The 'Elan D' or Awards' have been around since 1956 though this is just their 40th ceremony. Like all awards they honor the best films and actor's performances. Kasumi was a winner this year but kind of wonder why she won what she did which was one of the 'Rookie of the Year' honors.
She won the award for her two movies "Strobe Edge'" and "Biri Girl", still need to watch both of them as I've had them for a few months now. Kasumi has been around a while though and she's had the lead in two films prior to this year so hard to explain why she would win a 'rookie' award. Least she's being recognized, let's hope when the major awards are announced we hear her name then. This ceremony took place on February 4th at the Keio Plaza Hotel in Tokyo, sadly no video but do have some superb pics from the show.
