Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso: episode 2 synopsis and review

While still an interesting and decent watch though this episode took a step back compared to the first one, the comparisons to Trick became even more so for this show which is a good thing but hope it doesn't start to turn into a clone, but thought the main drawback to this episode was that Kyoko really wasn't trying to figure out the mystery of a person but instead it was a pig!
The pig in question was named P-Chan who two years prior had predicted an earthquake and also after that had predicted a landslide, the pig was able to do this by biting off bits of newspaper to form the message. Well word got around quickly and P-Chan became an overnight sensation, people flocked to her fan site, which was an animal farm, and spent mega amounts of money to view her for a few seconds and also to buy souvenirs. Shortly after that Kyoko's manager Kaoru heard of this pig who could make predictions and set up a special show where the two of them would go head to head with their predictions much to the dismay of Kyoko, who we all know is a fake psychic, she may be a fake but does possess great ability to deduce almost anything, least so for the first two episodes.

Well to make this short and a hopefully with not too many spoilers, Kyoko and her now detective partner Taniguchi do much investigating about the pig but mainly about her handler who had mailed in the pig's predictions but was very leery about it challenging Kyoko to a duel of predictions. In their investigations the pair found out that the handler had set up the pig making the predictions but putting the scent of corn on certain sections of a newspaper so the pig would tear those sections out. I tall boiled down to the TV challenge where the pig's prediction was wrong, Kyoko had set it up before with a fake paper and the handler was easily taken in by her trick, her prediction had proved to be correct as what she had said was the the pig's prediction would be wrong. Like the first show, Kyoko shows a soft spot to her, though the handler was guilty with this deception she made it appear before the audience that the first two predictions were correct, thus preventing the pig and handler from being scorned in public, especially to thise who had spent so much money visiting it's fan site.

Short review there, trying to keep these somewhat spoiler free or leaving out some of the major details as perhaps they'll be interesting enough so you may watch the drama. As mentioned not as good as the first episode but still was an enjoyable watch, not up to par with the Trick series but then again not many dramas are, for more info on the show and characters check out the next two posts that also have many screenshots from this episode with Satomi and Yuko.

There's also a minor character in the show named S, she works with Tanuguchi at the police department, both shows she's only had one scene but her character may prove to be interesting, perhaps the role will be increased as she's also proving to be a bit of a mysterious person, woman that plays the part is Rieko Miura.
