Ji-won Ha: Reversal of Fortune 2003 movie recap
Been doing many more Ji-won posts as of late and hopefully have many more coming up, though I like many other Korean actresses there is no one who comes close to comparing to her, actually very few Japanese actresses do either and that's what mainly this blog is about.
Just going to give a quickie review, watched it mainly for Ji-won as it was one her few films I hadn't seen and though it was a bit fluffy and confusing at first it turned out to be a real good watch. Briefly Kang Seung-wan was a former pro golfer who had quit the game 13 years before even though he had a promosing career in front of him. These days he worked as a stock broker and wasn't all that good at it, his world was slowly crashing down and it looked like he would hit rock bottom. One day he was racing his car through a tunnel and was involved in an accident, the accident somehow sent him to an alternative world where he hadn't quit being a golfer and was very successful at it though he was in a slump at the present time. The other Kang in that world was having a secret affair in Sydney so he just slid into his place in this different world, best part of it was when he found out he was married to Ji-yeong(Ji-won)!
Problem he soon found out was that she wanted a divorce from him as the real Kang was not the nicest of people but now the new Kang worked hard to change all that and slowly but surely Ji-yeong ended up really falling in love with him and the divorce was off. But now the big problem that arose was that Kang once again had to learn to play golf, while the other Kang had been quite successful the Kang from the other world had to somehow take his place after not playing for 13 years. After many weeks of practice though he got much better but not quite at a pro level but that somehow changed as when he entered a tournament he came from far back in the final round and somehow ended up winning it with some miracle shots at the end. However his body was starting to rebel against him in this alternate world and it was about time for him to head back to his own world which is what he did, he got into another accident and returned to his former, dreary life but still retained the memory of everything that had happened, he was the only one in the movie that remembered about the other world and what happened in it.
Back in the real world things were starting to turn around for Kang as he made a major prediction about an investment which hit really big and now his life was getting back into order. By chance one day he saw Ji-yeong at the market, she had the same time but was an entirely different person and as fate would have it by the end of the movie they were both about to be getting together again, again for him but not for Ji-yeong as she had no idea what Kang had gone through.
Quickie update like I said, didn't have much time to write this up and also wanted to really watch it because of Ji-won, my final thoughts on the film are all positive, went in not expecting much and except for a tad of a confusing beginning it turned out to be a solid and enjoyable watch. Film is 110 minutes bit didn't seem that long as it seemed to zip right by, bit fluffy but not overly so and to end off would recommend this film, not the best in it's genre but liked it enough where I'll be viewing it again soon, would grade it a 8.5/10. Next two posts have many, many screenshots of Ji-won looking magnificent in the film plus they may help you understand the film better, also added in a few more tidbits from the film in those posts, plus here's the trailer.
