Kie Kitano & Aya Ueto: Nagareboshi drama episode 4 recap and screenshots

Main Cast:

Yutaka Takenouchi as Kengo Okada, Maria's older brother
Aya Ueto as Risa Makihara
Kii Kitano as Maria Okada, Kengo's much younger sister
Goro Inagaki as Shuichi Makihara, Risa's shady brother
Shota Matsuda as Dr. Ryo Kamiya
Yuka Itaya as Minako Aizawa
Tetta Sugimoto as Junji Kawamoto
Mieko Harada as Kazuko Okada, mother of Kengo and Maria
Haruna Kawaguchi as Mizuki Yasuda, Maria's best friend
Akito Kiriyama as Ryota Sawamura, also has the same illness as Maria

Though Dr. Kamiya realizes the upcoming marriage between Kengo and Risa is a sham he reluctantly agrees to the transplant, there's also no other option as they were unable to find a donor for Maria and she needs a liver very quickly. The doctor has given her special permission to spend a few days at home, the family or more specifically Kengo needs to start revealing a few of their secrets.
And that first secret is about his marriage to Risa, to say that breaks Maria's heart is an understatement as she's very fond of Minako. But Kengo hasn't told Maria yet of the transplant, he knows if he does tell Maria of it she'll know exactly why they're getting married, next episode though it does eventually come out as Kengo is forced to tell her. Kengo is a nice person who truly loves his sister but is going about things the wrong way but then again there aren't too many options for him. Maria's heart was broken when she learned about the marriage to Risa but even more than Maria Minako's heart was really shattered when Kengo broke off their engagement, he's told her the real reason why and made Minako feel guilty about not donating a liver to Maria.

Haven't talked much recently about Risa's older brother Shuichi. She's paid off another of his debts but he's back into her life, he won't stop making things miserable around her and what he's about to do is going to have some serious effects on the marriage and the transplant. Can't say how they're going to turn out because they are going to happen after episode 5 but he's learned of the marriage plus where Kengo works and where the family lives. It happens in episode 5 but he breaks into Kengo's house and is going through their bank records taking notes and pictures of them, is he going to clean the family out of all their money which would also mean there could be no transplant for Maria.
Risa was a bit quiet this episode, her and Maria did meet a few times at the hospital but Maria at the time had no clue who she was, actually at first Risa also didn't know who she had been meeting. When the two finally do meet properly back at home Maria is of course upset that Kengo isn't marrying Minako, she doesn't dislike Risa but does not want them to get married, like I said she still knows nothing about the transplant she needs.

One reason I had held off watching this drama was because of the theme of it, show has an excellent cast but thought it sounded so depressing, it is a rather dark series but not all that depressing, at least not yet. The next episode does get a bit darker and have a feeling it will get much more so after the 5th episode, main reason for that will be because of Risa's brother Shuichi, sure hope he gets the proper revenge on him for all the evil deeds he's done and is planning on doing.
