Hopefully off that big Nogi kick and can go back to doing more posts on movies and films which I've been neglecting too much as of late. Have had this film for a while, started it and never finished it for some reason but knuckled down and watched the whole thing today. Of course the main reason for viewing it was Tsubasa, thought she had the lead int he film but it wasn't so though her role was a big one, especially in the last half. All in all thought it was just an okay film, nothing really wrong with it but then again there was nothing that really made it stand out, here's a quick recap.

"I.... came from the future", yes this was another time travel movie but didn't know that going in, actually knew zero about the film except that Tsubasa was in it and I try to watch just about everything she's in. Tsubasa plays the character of Michiru who has been best friends with Shuta and Saku since they were all very young. The film starts off in December 2012, it's been two years since Saku died of a heart condition and Shuta is about to attend his anniversary memorial at his mother's house. After the ceremony his mother tells him to take anything of Saku's so that Shuta won't ever forget about him, browsing through his things he finds an odd 'time travel' watch.
It's more of a kiddie watch by the looks of it but Shuta takes it home with him. On the train home he puts the watch on and reads the directions how it's supposed to work, he naturally thinks it's foolish but tries it on the train. Next thing you know Shuta has been transported back to December of 2010, one day before Saku dies. Shuta is totally perplexed on what to do, he can't believe he's actually traveled back in time and is it possible for him to change the future? While thinking of what to do he's hit in the head with a basketball and ends up back in the year 2012 waking up again.

Shuta still has the memories of traveling to the past and once again he goes to the house of Saku's mother and gets the watch again. And once again he travels on the train, follows the time travel instructions and is back in 2010, one day before Saku is about to die. However once again before Shuta can put any plan into motion about changing the future he's once again whisked away to present day 2012, every time it's 9:00 am with him waking up.
For the third and final time Shuta gets the watch again and travels back to 2010, however this time he ends up appearing on December 21st which is the day Saku is supposed to die. How he dies is by rushing to the train station to see Michiru off who is about to leave to study in England. Saku didn't know of her plans until that day, he has had a bad heart since birth but still runs to the station to see her but the strain was too much for him and he ends up dying. Shuta's plan is to either stop him from going to the station or else bringing him there so he doesn't strain his heart. Shuta's idea should work but the problem is if he changes the past how will the future be affected?

Still on the day Saku is scheduled to die Shuta meets a 'ghost' named Kyoko, rumor is she killed herself at her old high school but she insists she isn't a ghost though for some strange reason only Shuta can see her. Kyoko explains to him various problems with him changing the past, though he may save Saku's life will it be worth it? Kyoko tells him, not sure how she knows this stuff, that if he saves Saku's life then all their memories of each other will be lost, none of them will remember who they are or that they were once close friends. To Shuta it's worth it to save Saku's life, he finds Saku running to the train station and ends up giving him a ride on his bike so he doesn't strain his heart.  Shuta's plan works as they arrive at the station safely to see Michiru off though just before her train departs something strange happens. We hear a phone ring which I presume is at the second when Saku was supposed to die, he didn't die so at the instance all of them lost memories of knowing each other and looked at each other wondering why they were talking with each other. Michiru gets on the train and then Saku is pushed on it by Shuta who says to travel to the airport with her.
The story looked like it was going to end there but it quite didn't as we have a brief scene of the trio about two years later. Shuta is standing by himself on a beach when up come strolling hand in hand Michiru and Saku. That push Shuta gave him on to the train must have worked as the two are now a couple, losing memories of each other didn't seem to affect how they felt about each other. There the film ends with Shuta watching them walk down the beach, we're left wondering whether his memories were actually all lost or does he remember them but it's useless saying anything to them.

That's the basic gist of what happened or at least all the major details and events. Thought it was an enjoyable watch but nothing special, most movies I say should be shorter but this was one that being a little longer may have helped, especially at the end when Shuta meets up once again with Michiru and Saku. If you're a Tsubasa fan then you certainly will want to watch it, she did fine but thought her role could have been a bit beefier. Will give this a final rating of a 7.5/10, worth a watch and it was pleasant enough but don't think it's one of those films you'd want to watch multiple times. Tsubasa looked mighty fine as usual in the movie and if you want to see many, many more screenshots of her then check out the next post. After these screenshots also have the film's trailer.
