Nogizaka46: "Hatsumori Bemars" drama episode 4 recap and screenshots
Was planning on doing more than these two Nogi drama posts today but kind of short on time and wanted to get these done before the next episode airs this Friday night. Still don't know how many total episodes there will be, just did some checking and couldn't find any info at the show's site but you have to figure that with episode five airing this week that's probably the halfway point.
Could be wrong on that though as it looks like one member/player could be the main focus of each episode, already that's happened to Nanase, Nanami and for this episode Erika. Erika's Chopin character is exactly like she is in real life being that she's kind of a piano prodigy and studies the keys hard in this show which somehow even her best friends were unaware of.
Back to the Bemars team, even though they're a bunch of rookies on the field they did manage last episode to win the opening game in the softball tourney they entered to save their local park. Looks like these episodes will have dramatic endings, last show did and this one did too which the details about it are just a little lower. Eventually to save their park the Bemars team will need to beat the local powerhouse team Polalis, they won their first game in the tourney 182-0(!!), no mercy rule?
Chopin's piano studies and her softball practicing are having an effect on both as she can't dedicate enough time to either one and her skills are slipping in both, she may even be replaced in the Bemars starting lineup. The team's cross dressing coach knows more than he shows and keeps Chopin in the lineup to the dismay of many of her teammates.
Compared to the three previous shows this one focused more on one person by far, seems Chopin had over half the screen time. Nothing really wrong with that but it's a fun bunch of characters that make up the team and it's a shame we didn't see more of them in this episode though it was still an enjoyable watch. It is kind of a big cast though as there's ten Nogi members on the Bemars team, two on Polalis plus there's others besides the group in the show.
On to the Bemars next game though and it's sort of given that they'll be winning these games but in what fashion is the only question. The teams's next opponent are from the Komanechi Girls School and what a different team they are. Their talent lies more in acrobatics than in softball, they're able to do things like jump on their teammates shoulders, 3 or 4 high, to rob the other teams of homers which did happen in this game when it was tied at zero in the final inning.
The Bemars team except for Marukyu is a horrible hitting team, luckily for them Nanamaru on the mound has proved to be an ace as in the first game she allowed one run, going into the last inning in this game it was a scoreless tie so her ERA is quite good for you fantasy players.
To wrap this up quickly with two outs it's Chopin's turn at bat, looks like there's going to be extra innings. However the coach told Chopin to use her musical skills at the plate, what he meant was to close her eyes and imagine the ball's flight as musical notes. She thought this work however her first two swings were very futile. On the last swing though every note came together and with all her might was able to soar a homer over the surprised Komanchi team, sending the Bemars somehow into the third round of the tourney.
Won't call this last show as good as the first three but still a must watch for any Nogi fan, it still was a solid watch but wish they would give more screen time to some other players. There were a total of 46 teams in the tourney which is an odd number so if they're in the third round guess there would be about 16 teams left which means if they make it to the final there should be four more games. Of course they're going to the finals and that will probably be a two-parter but we still have a ways to go before that happens.
Forgot to check the ratings for the last two shows but will do that for next week's post, after two shows the average rating was 2.8% which seems okay for an after midnight show. And I will be back in exactly a week for a recap of the fifth episode, if you haven't seen any of this drama yet would recommend it, not a must watch but a really fun and enjoyable series so far. As usual the next post is chock full of screenshots from this latest episode.
