Nogizaka46: 'Nogizaka Singles Series' #1- "Guruguru Curtain"
For those C-ute fans out there you probably know of the 'singles series' I did for them, can't think of a better group to do next for the series. Was thinking that there's really 'everything Nogi' here but have noticed there's a lack of their music. Not easy to find the group's PV's on YT but there are plenty of versions of their songs in concert or on TV shows there.
This was really an off the cuff post, just thought about doing this half hour ago so it may not be as good as the ones following this. Then again have noticed there's not nearly as many things from years ago such as cards, promo pics, events and the like. The group was still quite new in 2012 when this single came out so naturally that's the reason for lack of things but as you all know these days it's so easy to find anything about the group. Another thing that's changed are their looks, all of these pics are from late 2011 or early 2012.
"Guruguru Curtain" was the group's first single and was released on February 22, 2012. To date it's been the only single which hasn't topped the charts but it did finish #2 on the Oricon charts it's first week out. Being second on the charts is actually impressive considering it was the group's debut single. Really the only thing people knew about the group was from their 'Doko' shows which had been on the air four months prior to the singles release.
It's first week sales were 136,000 copies sold, these days they sell about five times that amount in week one. Total sales are about 215,000 copies sold so it did have a bit of staying power. There were four versions of the single and here are those covers.
Rina was the center for the single, she was flanked by Erika and Rena who is the only member on that first single to no longer be with the group. Plenty of promo pics here and some are from the single itself. Mentioned above how young the group looked then but you have to figure most were aged 16-20 at the time, to me Mai and Nanami have changed the most and for the better!
The single was a tie-in with Meiji as they were the first company to sign the group to promote a product. Pics here are from an event for the single and a CM for Meiji from February 2012. Naturally you want to view the single and have it's PV right after these pics, I'm actually surprised the regular PV is on YT.
thanks for this series. really looking forward to it and the great pics
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, if I can plan it out right will finish up just in time for their 16th single which comes out on November 9th.
