Mizuki Yamamoto and Mei Nagano: "Peach Girls" movie May 27th event
Been following the activities for the two of them for a while now so figured one more post for this film was needed. "Peach Girl" was a very popular manga in Japan selling over 13 million copies, in the film adaption Mizuki plays the lead role of Momo. Momo in Japanese means peach which is one reason for the title of the series, Momo is kind of an oddball gal who bleaches her hair plus she's very sensitive to the sun which gives her a strange coloring.
Mei in the film plays her friend Sae who gets a bit jealous of Momo when some guys start paying attention to her. Actually Sae isn't a true friend as she'll do anything to prevent Momo from being happy. The series went on for 18 volumes, won't give a full account of the story as I aborted it after about five volumes as I couldn't get into it too much as it's more of a teen girl read though that's not to say it was an uninteresting read.
The movie was released last Saturday and did well in it's first weekend finishing third in the box office totals. The two films in front of it have been out a while which probably was the difference between third and first. On May 27th there was a 'thank you' event for doing so well at the box office and it was held at the Marunouchi Piccadilly Theater.
Marshmallows was a fave snack for Momo so Misuki and Mei ended up treating the fans to some handfuls of it. Before the event the fans could vote for their three favorite villianous scenes from the film which was shown and the pair discussed what it was about. Plenty of fine looking pics here from the event, was going to wait for a video to come out but there probably won't be one. For last week's premiere was waiting for a good video to be released, that never happened but there is a short one after all of these pics.
