Will have a promo video for each of the episodes, all of them are at the KBS YT site. Am planning on having an intro post soon for Chae Seo-Jin who is much more popular then I thought. Was working on one first for Min Do-Hee which is turning out to be more difficult than imagined but there will be at least one post for her soon.

The final moments from episode two consisted of Jung-Hee getting into a scrap with Ae-Sook and her two cronies. Jung-Hee lost that mini fight and ended up falling into a lake, she didn't know how to swim but in the nick of time Dong-Moon who had been watching the proceedings jumped in to save her. But the incident meant that Jung-Hee missed the dual broadcast between her high school and the nearby Gyeryoon school which consisted of boys. It also meant Jung-Hee couldn't co-host the show with her heartthrob Son-Jin as she woke up in a hospital the following day.
There's more details in the previous post but that brings up to how this episode began. Jung-Hee didn't believe it was the next day and rushed to the gym where the event took place. Upon arriving Jung-Hee did realize that she had missed the broadcast but even worse than that were the two voices she heard from behind the stage curtain. They belonged to Son-Jin who has such a crush on the new girl in town Hae-Joo, she was the other voice and so far his love hasn't been returned.
The pair discovered Jung-Hee was in the gym and rushed to her to her side while explaining nothing was going on between them which was the truth. Jung-Hee doesn't know what to think, though she's become friends with Hae-Joo she's still jealous of her overwhelming beauty as all of the boys in the town of Daegu want to be with her. Jung-Hee is still in her hospital garb so heads back there as she fled without permission.

The hero Dong-Moon also had to be admitted to the hospital, Jung-Hee had thought his condition was severe and had to be transferred to a hospital in Seoul. She broke down a bit at her thoughts, unknown to Jung-Hee behind her was Dong-Moon who heard her comments about worrying for him. Jung-Hee denies caring about him but we viewers know differently, she still has her sights set on Son-Jin but Dong-Moon seems to be the person she can always count on.
He's now recovered and can leave the hospital, the same can be said for Jung-Hee and what could have been a tragic event didn't turn out that way. The potential disaster was all due to Ae-Sook and once Jung-Hee's mother learned why her daughter fell into the lake she went storming to see Oh the class teacher. The mother wants Ae-Sook expelled immediately, if not she and her husband won't stop pestering the school until justice is done to the little devil.
Oh did give Ae-Sook a bit of a whipping, back in 1979 looks like that treatment was the norm.
Ae-Sook stood firm and wouldn't admit to anything and eventually Oh got tired of using the whip on her. The event came to an end but Ae-Sook's quest for revenge hasn't, she's still allowed to attend class and in it told Jung-Hee's friends to watch their backs. Surprisingly Hae-Joo stood up to her but before the confrontation could escalate the teacher Oh walked in.

Jung-Hee has returned home but isn't too enthused about it as she feels no other member of her family save her aunt cares about her. She just may have a point as her father never once visited her in the hospital plus her mother didn't bring her back home. What made matters a tad worse was that Hae-Joo came to visit shortly after her return and Jung-Hee's mother took an instant liking towards her, why couldn't her daughter be more like her?
Hae-Joo's visit was to clear the air with Jung-Hee, she didn't beat around the bush as she said nothing was going on between her and Son-Jin and she doesn't care about him at all. That kind of pacified Jung-Hee but the problem is and will be is that Son-Jin is head over heels in love with Hae-Joo.
Jung-Hee is in a slightly happier mood after the visit but that's quickly going to change as it's dinnertime with her family.
Not too up on older Korean traditions but back in that era did the males and females sit at different tables? You'll see what I mean in the below screenshot and at Jung-Hee's first dinner since her return from the hospital tensions are quite high. She's furious that her father never visited her, he's even more irate that his wife spent so much money on the 'welcome back home' dinner and flipped over his dinner table. After that the scene became chaotic, Jung-Hee's father just doesn't love her like he does her twin brother Bong-Soo and starts ripping into her with such venom.

While the action was hot and heavy there was a knock at the door, the family quickly had to restore order as it was Jung-Hee's teacher Oh. In tow with him was the school's military drill instructor, she seems so stern and angry during training but out of uniform she's very sedate. One other person was with the two adults and that was Ae-Sook, they had brought her along to apologize to Jung-Hee. Ae-Sook seemingly has no other option, if she refuses Ae-Sook will be expelled from school but from her comments she could care less.
Jung-Hee's father is such a hypocritical jerk, he starts tearing into Ae-Sook about what she did to his precious daughter who was listening from her bedroom. The father gave her no alternative, if she doesn't get on her knees to apologize he'll make life very difficult for Ae-Sook's mother. She owns a small pub, Jung-Hee's father said he can get the lease revoked and has less than flattering words to say about the mother's character.
Out of her room after those comments flew Jung-Hee, regardless of how much she hated Ae-Sook she couldn't take the all of the abuse being directed towards her. To our surprise the comments about her mother hit home as Ae-Sook dropped to her knees and apologized to Jung-Hee. She felt so uncomfortable with her actions and tried to get Ae-Sook to stop while her father was beaming at
Ae-Sook's groveling.

Am back, took a day break so hope I didn't forget too much of what took place. What Jung-Hee is thinking in the bottom screenshot is that she can't compare with Hae-Joo who took first place in two mock exams. Not just for the school but for the entire country of Korea(!) as she's seemingly a perfect person and has such a comfortable life, that myth will be popped a bit in the next recap. After school Jung-Hee did a daring act and visited the Gyeryoon Boys High School where Son-Jin is a student, she wanted to clear things up with him.
Son-Jin also appears to be such a perfect person, to Jung-Hee he is, but to me and many viewers he's kind of a conniving guy. Though he's totally in love with Hae-Joo he told Jung-Hee they're just friends and he had no romantic feelings towards her. Stumbling upon the conversation but then again he could have been following Jung-Hee was Dong-Moon who often shows up in the nick of time.
He really knows how Son-Jin felt about Hae-Joo but doesn't say anything to Jung-Hee about it to spare her feelings. Of all of the characters Dong-Moon is probably, to me at least, the most likable person and though a bit nerdy seems like he'd be a good match for Jung-Hee. Another person who thinks that way is Jung-Hee's mother who slyly makes comments to her about Dong-Moon being a man worth pursuing, for now though Jung-Hee only has her sights set on one man. But those sights will become a bit blurry as Jung-Hee is about to discover some hurtful truths.

That bottom screenshot is from Hae-Joo's house and there's a development going on which hasn't been explained yet. There's a man staying with Hae-Joo and her father named Kyung-Soo, the father says he's a student of his and will be staying with them for a while. But there's a lot more than meets the eye, think the father is hiding Kyung-Soo who may be a wanted man but perhaps not by the police. Hae-Joo had noticed a mysterious man once checking their house out but so far and even through the next episode the man is still a mystery.
Jung-Hee's mother had taken an instant liking to Dong-Moon who visited their house to see her twin brother Bong-Soo who is in the same grade as Dong-Moon. The mother prepares such a lavish meal for Dong-Moon to thank him for saving Jung-Hee, there had to be enough food for four people. Of course Dong-Moon had wanted to see Jung-Hee but she never knew he was in the house as
Dong-Moon had to eat the entire spread to please her mother.
After taking his leave all of a sudden the urge to get rid of the food in his system became so overwhelming Dong-Moon had to pop into a public bathroom which just happened to be across from Hae-Joo's residence. At the time Son-Jin had was paying a visit to Hae-Joo and the pair talked outside of her house where Son-Jin revealed his unconditional love to her. Unknown to the pair Dong-Moon could hear every word but also there was one other person around the corner also listening to his confession of love.

That second person was Jung-Hee who remained hidden the whole time. Son-Jin's confession of love was a flop as he was rebuffed by Hae-Joo who went back into her house. As that happened out of the shadows came Dong-Moon who heard every word and was more than furious with Son-Jin. He knows the crush Jung-Hee has on him and hates Son-Jin for toying with her feelings, his fury is so immense he throws a punch at Son-Jin.
Huge mistake by Dong-Moon as besides being an excellent student Son-Jin is also a skilled fighter and as you can see above put down Dong-Moon fairly easily. Jung-Hee is still watching from around the corner, she now realizes to an extent what kind of person Son-Jin is but more importantly she discovered what kind of man Dong-Moon is and her feelings towards him are beginning to change.
In the final scene Dong-Moon and Jung-Hee happen to bump into each other a few minutes after that mini fight. Dong-Moon lies about fighting Son-Jin and says his injuries came from being jumped by a group of eight gangsters. Jung-Hee knows the truth but doesn't let on to Dong-Moon she saw the whole scene with Son-Jin meeting Hae-Joo and the subsequent fight. The pair end up sitting on a bridge where both had tears start to stream out of their eyes, for Jung-Hee it was because the man of her dreams is a liar, for Dong-Moon it's because he may never end up with Jung-Hee as his girl.

Once again an episode was truly first-rate and I'm really enjoying this drama. It is lighthearted to an extent but actually is much more serious than I thought it would be and think it's going to get much more intense. For the recap of episode four check out the next post and that also was such an excellent watch.
