Mariya is definitely one of the exceptions of what happens to an Idol when she graduates from their group. Unless they're extremely popular they usually disappear or just meander along doing under the radar activities. That hasn't been the case for Mariya who has become more popular than ever in the past year and isn't referred to that often as an ex-AKB member. This March 19th will mark two years since her departure and doesn't time fly right by?
Above is a short promo video for the "Impossibility Defense" drama which Mariya is currently starring in, the show began on December 22nd. There's a film coming out on February 1st which is a continuation of the series but Mariya isn't in it, wonder if her character gets killed off and she plays an former AV actress in the drama.
There was a press conference for the drama a few days before the show began though Mariya wasn't in attendance. However she did do quite a few interviews for "Impossibility Defense", the ones above are from the Nikan SPA! site. Can't recall the sales figures but do remember that Mariya's second photobook "Mabui Mariya" sold well as it was in the top ten for sales for a few weeks. The PB came out on October 26th and will work on getting the dazzling pics from it here soon.
Mariya's blog is no longer active and hasn't been since late 2016. But she does have an Instagram account with many enchanting pics, that first one is such a winner....
On to a pair of dazzling mag spreads and for the past year or so Mariya's pics have been close to unbeatable and wish she appeared in many more of them. First set has some outtake pics from the PB and is from the December 1st issue of Friday.
Another jaw-dropping Mariya set is from the January edition of Entame.
Mariya's sixth calendar was released at the beginning of December and on the 4th there was an event for it at the Fukuya bookstore in Shinjuku. Once again she was dressed in as a Yanki gal which she did at another event in October, following the pics is a video of the event.
