.... and about a dozen more....

So far both episodes have been better than the AKB or Nogi versions of the show but unsure if that'll be true after twelve shows. As mentioned in the first post the theme of this series is 'Challenge of Acting' to see if the members have what it takes to be actresses in the future which is what most Idols dream is to be. First episode had the gals doing auditions at the base in Nagoya where they were judged and given advice by this trio.

About half this show also had footage from the auditions where the members didn't know they were being filmed, like anyone believes that. But the scene changed to the studio for the last seven minutes of the show which lasts a little over 22 minutes. Not positive but think future episodes will show the gals at many other different locations and wonder if there's a grand prize for the best actress?

First show the members acted out some Shakespearean lines and did some impromptu acting. Many different skits for this show and the first one was having the members act out a scene where they were woken up late for a school day.... except it was a Sunday. As in the previous show leading off was Ryoha and to put it mildly she has to be the worst actress in SKE or for that matter worst in the world by a mile!
She's so horrid hope to see less of her but more of Akari who followed her, their performances are above. Akari is one of the better actresses in the group though she does try to ham it up a bit too much at times. But that's why there's a panel of judges as they let the members know what they think of their acting plus give them some sound advice.
Up next is my current fave SKE actress and someone who I can't get enough of suddenly, Haruka. She's not the clearest of speakers but once again she put on such a fun and energetic performance. As in the first show she won over the judges with her enthusiasm. Luckily we see her again near the end of the show and wonder if it's because she's so good?

Won't go into too much detail about every mini performance or this post would three times as long. Though SKE is one of the older Idol groups as so many members are 23 years in age or much older but there are still many gals in their teens. Which means quite a few of the skits have been with a 'teen theme' such as this next one where a member was told to act out a scene where they caught their mother going through the drawers in their rooms.
Three members had their 'audition' with that theme and the best one was Ruka Inoue, there's another Ruka in the group who is hotter than hot but she hasn't been seen so far. This Ruka was so superb doing that short skit and she really impressed the judges immensely, one thing they really liked were her 'evil eyes'.

Have said it twenty times before but to this day no Idol has been more deserving of a photobook than Mina. She'll be turning 27 in less than two months so the odds about it happening are quite slim though she did finish eighth in last year's general '48' elections plus she looks better than ever. But '48' books these days sell about a fifth of what the books from Nogi members sell so bet she won't be the only deserving gal to never have a PB.
Mina was up next and the theme changed once again to 'How to you respond when your boyfriend breaks up with you?'. She would never have that problem with me or probably anyone else but she handled the situation perfectly, she also was in a mini drama last month and you could see how being around other actors rubbed off on her. Also taking a stab at the role was Nao, another big fave of mine from the group and not just because of her name. Three members gave that 'boyfriend' skit a try and to me Nao may have been the best of the bunch.

All those above skits were done at a 'secret audition' down in Nagoya during December and think that's the last we'll be seeing of that footage. For the final few minutes the action takes place back in the studio and all of the performances are off the cuff. Meaning the members haven't been told what's going to happen next or at least that's what they've been telling us.
'Having a boyfriend cheat on you' was the next theme and soon to become a big fave of mine is Haruka who was in the next skit along with Yuzuki. Komiya from 'Sanshiro' acted as the boyfriend that was dating Haruka who began questioning him about his recent activities. He's been coming home late plus she found an earring that wasn't hers on his jacket.
These skits are truly mini as they only last about two minutes so everyone has to rush a bit. During the questioning who should walk out but Yuzuki who thanked Haruka for finding her earring. That sent Haruka into a tantrum as she blazed into Komiya who didn't deny anything and it appears he's willing to have two girlfriends. It was one of the better skits but would have been more enjoyable had it been another minute or so longer. The panel of judges though didn't give it a thumbs up as they told Haruka most girls wouldn't have been so ruthless.

The final acting skit of the show was also a fun one which once again had the 'two timing' theme. This time it was Yuna as the girlfriend who had been out on a date with Komiya. The pair stopped to purchase some cotton candy when Komiya's other girlfriend popped out of nowhere who was Jurina. She was a lot more understanding then what happened in the previous skit but at first she was furious with Komiya and wouldn't forgive him.
But actually Yuna wasn't his girlfriend but instead he was able to convince Jurina that she was his much younger sister. She seemed to buy that reason, so much that she said why don't the two of them get married!? All of these skits were actually good when you consider they were all impromptu and the gals had no clue of what role they would be playing out. Can't say everyone is a solid actress but do give them credit for ad-libbing things so quickly.

Episodes are only 22 minutes in length and think if they were a bit longer they would be so much better. This show starts at 1:30 am so you would think that it could be longer as I'm sure there's not much else on that time of night that is a must watch. Say that because these shows end with a short segment called 'Dressing Room Stories' and enjoy watching the members talk about anything that pops into their head but it only last for two minutes at most.

If you go into these variety shows knowing there's going to be quite a bit of fluff and hardly any seriousness then these shows end up being quite enjoyable. These first two shows haven't been world beaters but did find them to be fun watches and to me the SKE members are so much better than any current Idol group around. Not going to rush through these recaps but will try to have a pair of them every week as there's also two dramas that I'm currently posting about. And as usual leave you with a mega amount of screenshots to follow the action a bit better.
