Once again most of the action takes place in the year 2015, think we eventually go to 2018 in future shows. But there was finally a flashback scene of the night Hui-Jee murdered Nak-Won's parents, at the top is a video of part of the scene and am really hoping there will be an episode that features the entire scene. Flashbacks help but one long ten minute scene would be so much better.

There was a mini flashback to open the seventh episode and it's the first one from 2007, am presuming it's that year. The action took place at a courthouse near the town of Gowon, location and year were never mentioned as I'm using logic to figure it out. It was the day that Na-Moo's father had been arraigned for the twelve murders which you can see in the top two screenshots. The father had been taken away leaving Na-Moo by himself, he wore a mask along as did his father Hui-Jee so their identities were still a secret. But also coming onto the scene was Nak-Won along with her brother, the minute the press saw them they rushed over to interview the pair whose parents had been killed.
But it was more of a mob scene and so far in this drama the media haven't been put in a positive light. That's okay though as there's no reason for the press to hound a pair of teens whose parents had been brutally murdered which is what was taking place. Na-Moo was on another set of stairs watching the spectacle, without any warning or reason he tore off his mask and told the reporters to come talk with him. Once they saw what took place they tore back to Na-Moo hoping for an interview, that allowed enough time for Nak-Won and her brother to scoot to safety. Wasn't mentioned but obviously Na-Moo tore off his mask to draw attention away from Nak-Won as he still cared deeply for her, that was the last time he saw her in person for eight years.
That would mean their next encounter took place in 2015 which is where the cliffhanger from the previous recap ended off. That's right above this one so you can read what took place so I don't have to repeat myself. In those bottom two screenshots above Do-Jin had saved Jae-Yi once again from a crowd of reporters. It's the first time the pair have been together since that day at the courthouse,
Do-Jin has known about Jae-Yi becoming an actress and model but she had no clue what happened to her potential future partner(husband?).
But before the ex-love birds could have a conversation Jae-Yi passed out from the pressures of dealing with the media along with the shock of seeing Do-Jin after eight years. So he quickly brought Jae-Yi to the academy's infirmary where he waited and waited but she never awoke while Do-Jin was present. As a matter of fact that was the only time the pair were together in these two episodes, Jae-Yi eventually came out of her slumber and did look all over the academy for Do-Jin but was never able to find him though sure it'll happen soon enough.

Time for another flashback and it was from a nightmare Jae-Yi had while she was passed out. We finally saw what took place on the fateful night back in 2006 which happened right around Christmas, good to learn a bit of what took place but hope there's a much longer scene in the future to fill in some missing pieces. The scene began with Hui-Jee wandering around Nak-Won's living room as we saw some of the damage that he did. Don't know if it's noticeable but in the second screenshot above there's blood all over the family portrait plus there's so much blood around the room.
We never see any of Hui-Jee's killings but often the aftermath as us viewers could tell he bludgeoned Nak-Won's parents to death. One question I have is was Nak-Won there in the room when Hui-Jee murdered them? Now Hui-Jee has a problem, seeing as how Nak-Won knows who he is does that mean she too needs to be killed? But Hui-Jee was wearing a mask and Nak-Won told him she doesn't know his identity and she may have been telling the truth as she had only met him once and even then it was very briefly. Hui-Jee also thought she may have been telling the truth but could he take a chance on that and allow her to report him to the police?
While he was pondering his next move who should walk into the room but Hui-Jee's son Na-Moo. He was very calm and told his father he had better make up his mind soon as Na-Moo has called the police about the murders and they should be arriving in less than ten minutes. Na-Moo didn't appear to be frightened in the least but Nak-Won was as she kept screaming at her friend to quickly leave but there's no way Na-Moo would abandon her. The scene faded away with those screams but we know that Hui-Jee did flee the house without committing any more murders. Another question I have is if Na-Moo knew about the two killings was he on hand to watch them?

As I've said a few times hope we get to see that murder scene again but the entire thing which I'm sure would be long but quite dramatic, another question is where was Nak-Won's brother during the murders? We're back to 2015 and at the academy where the very unscrupulous reporter Han was looking for Do-Jin. She didn't find him but he did and Do-Jin agreed to talk with Han for a few minutes if she would depart immediately after. That she and her cameraman agreed to but the pair couldn't take any pictures plus Han needed to leave her recorder off.
Han always tries to ask misleading questions to put her subjects in a bad light but that didn't take place with Do-Jin. She tried to force him into a corner about his father and whether Do-Jin felt any pity or compassion for Hui-Jee. The complete opposite came out of Do-Jin's mouth as he felt nothing whatsoever about his father in any kind of nice way and only has compassion for the people he killed. The interview did not go well at all for Han who really gathered nothing new or interesting enough for a story. Han said that perhaps the next time they talk Do-Jin will be a little more open about his feelings towards his father but Do-Jin said there will never be a second interview. That was the last of Han in this recap and that's okay as she's one character who I really do not like.
Jae-Yi has finally recuperated enough to leave the academy's infirmary but there is a problem as a horde of reporters are waiting for her outside. Can't believe the academy wouldn't throw the media off their grounds but that's what took place which left her trapped. But her manager Taek had brought their mini van to the back of the building and it appeared the two could escape unnoticed. May not talk about Taek too much but he appears to be a nice man who has Jae-Yi's best interests at heart.
He has some health issues with his legs that we may be seeing more of in the future. But the press had gotten word about Jae-Yi leaving by the back and have quickly caught up to her in their speeding cars. But just before the trail of vehicles left the academy's grounds they were stopped by Do-Jin who somehow jumped in front of the first car and wouldn't let it proceed, you had to see it to believe it.
Jae-Yi had been watching the whole scene from the passenger seat and also was in disbelief on what Do-Jin did, seems she wants to meet him again more than anything in the world.

On to the final segment and though I didn't take any screenshots of him will start off with Jae-Yi's brother Moo-Won who never changed his name. He's two years older than his sister and is on the verge of graduating from a prestigious law school. Moo-Won is a tad unsure of what to do in the future, should he become a successful lawyer such as his father was? But Moo-Won's heart still aches from the night his parents were murdered and wants to work with victims of crimes though the pay is much lower. To get to know the penal system better his class took a trip to a maximum security prison and who should Moo-Won see there but Hyun-Moo!
He's Do-Jin's older brother and like his father Hyun-Moo appears to be on death row but none of the details have been explained to us yet. Hyun-Moo still has a deep hatred for Moo-Won as he had reported him back in high school for beating up a student which landed him in jail for two years. That's him in the middle screenshot and what a mean person he turned into be just like his father. At the prison he had been spotted by Moo-Won who said nothing to him but left with his group. As Moo-Won was leaving Hyun-Moo had also noticed his old enemy but there's nothing he could say or do behind bars, don't know where that storyline is going but it could be an interesting one.
In the bottom two screenshots we see Do-Jin's little sister So-Jin who is now eighteen along with her mother Ok-Hee. She had been estranged from Hui-Jee when he was committing the murders and had fled with her daughter back in 2006 to the island of Chugae. There Ok-Hee opened a small cafe and for nine years her identity hasn't been discovered by the locals. But with Hui-Jee's book being released there was interest in his family and some person had tracked the two down. That person made some severe threats on the phone about killing them and this is another new storyline that was just added in. The scene only lasted a few minutes but we also learned that So-Jin has been in contact with her brother Do-Jin but not sure how close they are.
On to the final bit which comprise three very short scenes. In the first we saw Hui-Jee in his prison cell talking with a guard, he said how proud he is of his youngest son but there's something up this man's sleeve as Hui-Jee is truly one evil person. The second mini scene was of Do-Jin in an academy bathroom, he keeps having flashbacks of his father and now that the autobiography is out those intense flashbacks are happening more frequently. He was so disgusted with himself he punched a mirror and once again injured his hand badly. On to the final scene where Jae-Yi's mini van had broken down. She had called her bother Moo-Won to help her out and obviously the pair are still very close but it's the first indication we've heard of it. Moo-Won did come to pick Jae-Yi and her manager up as this pair of episodes didn't end on a cliffhanger which is very rare.

Finally am getting into this drama and for a while didn't think it would happen. Now that things have been explained a bit and are less confusing it's turning into a fine show but there's still a long way to go. This is the first time I've had four recaps in a row to open a series and think I'll go back to my regular way of doing them which is two recaps for four episodes. Will take a few days off from watching any dramas so expect that pair of posts next week and hope you can remember all of what's happened so far.
