Worked on the top cast list and think it should be complete for the most part. Those are characters who were introduced first starting in 2011 but we first met most of them in the year 2015. Still a bit of jumping around as far as the years go but it is slowing down which is such a relief. For this recap the first few minutes took place at the end of 2006, presuming right after Christmas. Then until the final five minutes the action takes place in 2015 and most of it on the day Do-Jin graduated from the police academy. Then for those final five minutes the time seemed to leap forward to 2018, it wasn't mentioned but presumed that's the year and you'll see why I thought so.

This show started off with a pair of short scenes from 2006 and 2007. The murders of Nak-Won's parents took place on Christmas Eve 2006, we did see a brief scene of the aftermath two recaps ago but still am hoping they will show the entire scene where Hui-Jee murdered the parents. That's him above, no date was given but it took place shortly after the murders as the police have nabbed their man after a long chase. To make sure no evidence was left behind Hui-Jee had set up some explosives in his truck which blew up shortly after his arrest.
The reason the police knew to look for Hui-Jee was because of his son Na-Moo who had turned his father in on the same night the murders happened, perhaps the arrest also took place that same night. That's one thing about this drama which is so irritating, they rarely mention dates and you have to guess which year it is. That's usually not a problem but seeing as how the action takes place over a twelve year period it can be slightly confusing.
There were only two witnesses to the horrid crime, Nak-Won whose parents were murdered and his son Na-Moo. As you can see above he agreed to testify against his father in court which actually surprised Hui-Jee. It wasn't a long trial as so much evidence was stacked up against Hui-Jee, not just for the two new murders but ten others(!) which he had committed the previous two years. The verdict handed down was the death sentence but as of 2018 Hui-Jee is still alive and we haven't heard any news of when or if he'll be executed.
Meanwhile, in 2015 he wrote an autobiography titled "I Am Just Like You" which drew outrage from the victim's families though Hui-Jee has promised to give some of the profits to the families. In that bottom screenshot is a reporter who we briefly met at the end of the last recap, Park Hee-Young. She's one of the most despicable characters I've ever seen in a drama and sadly we'll be seeing much more of her as she harasses the present day Na-Moo and Nak-Won to no end. Park is working with Hui-Jee for some articles, not positive but think she had a hand in writing the book.

As you can see in two of the above screenshots Park doesn't know when to leave the innocent alone as she sought out Nak-Won to get her side of the story, Now that we're back in the year 2015 she now goes by the name of Jae-Yi who is a struggling actress while Na-Moo has changed his name to
Do-Jin and is attending the police academy. In order to jump the gun a bit on Park both agreed to do interviews to talk about the murders which happened close to nine years ago.
First off Do-Jin had an interview with the publishing company that put out his father's book "I Am Not Unlike You". Do-Jin had stormed into their office one day and was so furious that a publishing company would stoop so low just to make some money, when they asked if he would like to give his side of the story Do-Jin agreed to the request. But it wasn't his take on the murders which he discussed on TV but how could anyone believe the lies that his father wrote? That infuriated the interviewers quite a bit but not the viewers who were watching Do-Jin, though the majority of the public despise Hui-Jee his book has been a solid seller even with all of the protests against it.
Meanwhile Jae-Yi also gave a short interview on TV, neither knew the other was going to do it and though they know of each other once again have not resumed their friendship. Jae-Yi's interview wasn't nearly as powerful as she just discussed briefly her struggles of following in her mother's footsteps as an actress, with her growing popularity Jae-Yi can't come off as too controversial. While the above was going on we saw a short scene at the Korean maximum security prison where both
Do-Jin's father and brother are locked up.
What a pair those two are and though Hui-Jee wrote his book about repenting he's done nothing of the sort and is just as cruel as ever. However I think his son Hyun-Moo is more of a crueler person, while he hasn't committed a murder(yet) he's in prison for attacking many innocent people violently. One other event which I'll briefly discuss are about Do-Jin's second mother and his adopted sister. Both fled to the island of Chugae shortly before Hui-Jee murdered Nak-Won's parents. For close to nine years the mother Ok-Hee has been running a successful pork cafe while his sister So-Jin is about to graduate from high school. The entire time their identities had been kept a secret but with the book out they've been discovered. Many of the island's residents are so furious that the pair are members of a serial killer's family so they're about to flee in the middle of the night for safety. More on them in future recaps along with the pair of prisoners.

That female in green right above is Choi Ri who I don't much about but will soon. She's one attractive woman who in real life just turned 24 and will be doing a post for her hopefully this week. Back to the action and we're in the tenth episode where almost all of the events take place at the 31st Korean Police Academy's graduating ceremony. The year is 2015 and didn't realize it takes four years to graduate from a police academy, perhaps just in Korea? Above is Do-Jin who entered the academy in 2011, he's not just a regular graduate but is at the top of the class and is line to receive the prestigious Presidential's Award.
That award was given by the head of Korea's police state but the ceremony quickly went haywire. That's because there was a group of people who knew of Do-Jin's identity even though he changed his name, how can the son of a serial killer be honored with such an award? The event took place in a large stadium with all of the graduates and relatives present along with many reporters. With the crowd watching the small group of protesters began to throw eggs at Do-Jin as they screamed he has no right to be a police officer.
Not just any officer as Do-Jin will begin off as the rank of a lieutenant. Many of his fellow graduates rushed to Do-Jin's rescue but he told them to leave the protesters alone, their actions may continue until they get their fury off their chests so he said to let them have their say. Do-Jin did leave the stadium but the group were hot on his tail still throwing eggs, a few reporters covered the action including the eternally evil Park. After watching the next two shows she's grown even more despicable and when she gets her due it's going to be such a pleasure to watch.

When the scene shifted away from the stadium we learned that Do-Jin's mother and sister had been in attendance. His mother Ok-Hee tried to stick up for her adopted son but to no avail. Seems as though the pair have now moved off the island and we'll be seeing more of them as time goes on. Also in attendance but hidden away was Jae-Yi and really not sure why she was at the graduating ceremony. She still harbors feelings for Do-Jin, mostly good ones but knows she can't afford to ever be seen with him again.
Eventually the crowd dispersed and most of them were the family of Hui-Jee's victims. It wasn't 100% in the bag but to me Do-Jin did convince many he's not like his father at all and really wants to atone for his actions which he knows can never be done. Now everything appeared to be back to normal so Do-Jin began to head back to the academy when he was met up by Jae-Yi much to his surprise. He too harbors feeling towards his teen love and is at a loss on what to say or do as there's no way he can make up for what his father did to her parents. But before the pair could begin a conversation stumbling upon the scene was the reporter Park who always seems to know show up at the worst time.
When she saw Do-Jin and Jae-Yi together she quickly took out her camera and began to snap many pictures for a major scoop. But to our enjoyment there was to be no huge scoop for Park as there was one other person at the ceremony who was Jae-Yi's brother Moo-Won! He grabbed the camera out of her hands, took the film out of it and smashed it to the ground. He threw her a few Wons to pay for it and warned Park to stay away or else. Moo-Won is currently a law student, it's the year 2015 and we'll soon see he's doing well for himself in 2018.
Park wasn't the only person he was furious at as he rushed up to Do-Jin and told him to leave his family alone. It wasn't the first time Do-Jin had been told that and Moo-Won better not catch the pair together again. For the most part that brought us to the end of the tenth episode except for a few minutes to get primed up for the year 2018. In the short ending we saw Do-Jin scuffling down the street holding his bloody stomach after getting into a skirmish with a criminal who he arrested. We also saw the best scene to date which was of Jae-Yi at an awards ceremony and did she look ever so ravishing. Had seen a few of these pics of Ki-Joo but never knew where they came from, luckily there will be plenty more in the next recap.

To me Ki-Joo most be the most attractive woman in the world these days, WOW! The shows are getting better but this pair didn't start out that way. Two episodes run for about sixty minutes and the first twenty were so yawn inducing did have some fleeting thoughts about aborting this drama. But stuck with it and was rewarded as the action has become quite interesting. Even more so as the next pair of shows were even better and glad we're now in just one year which will be 2018 instead of gong back and forth between five different years. Not sure how many recaps will be in a row, had four to start off which is against my norm but the episodes were so confusing four needed to be done. Would like to get back to having just two in a row but you'll soon see what my decision was. This is one series where it really helps to view all of the screenshots and have plenty more here.
