Nanami Sakuraba: Most are probably screaming at this moment... 'Nao, who the ^%#!& is.....
.... she?! What'd ya do, make that name up?!' Hah hah, didn't make that name up but if I did make someone up she'd definitely resemble Nanami. Can understand if most have never heard of her as it had been.... 56 months since her last post, talk about a blast from the past! But it did get me thinking about how much things have changed in the last four or so years. Very few of my huge faves from 2011-16 get posts these days and that saddens me to an extent.
Know why for many of them as they have gotten older and settled down to a married life, few others may have just retired from the entertainment field. But then there's others who I've kind of lost interest in as they've truly become so mundane as the years go by, not sure why as most are still younger than 35. So those gals who had 90% of the posts the first 4 1/2 years here are seldom heard from these days and wonder in 2024 will be saying that about my bigger faves of 2020?
As far as huge faves go Nanami was one of mine and had she not slowed down on her activities she would have had a spot in my top ten of all time. But starting in 2016 Nanami slowed way down on her drama and film appearances, she didn't entirely go away but "Scarlet" was her first major role in some years. Plus she rarely appeared at events or in magazines, lately though she's been making a big comeback and I for one am overjoyed with that.
The odds are slim but am hoping to have another post in June for her. Nanami will have her first lead role in a drama since 2013 which is called "13", it begins on June 6th. So may do a post for that show if it's subbed but of course sadly there can be no event for it. Nor can there be an event for the her first photobook in eight(!) years which is titled "Flowering", it's coming out next Wednesday. Have a trio of mag spreads for the PB today but am hoping for a few more to promote it along with the drama, the cover for the book and one promo pic.
Have viewed four of Nanami's dramas and I think five films. One drama that was recapped here was "Limit" from 2013 and what a tale of two series. It was twelve episodes long, after eight would have given it a rating of 9/10 but then it faded so badly in the final four shows and think the final rating I gave it was 7.5/10.
One Nanami drama that I highly, highly recommend is "Twin Spica" from 2008, it's been so long since I viewed it so am going to hunt it down after this post. If I'm lucky and find it will do a marathon watch of it next week and recap it before the long series "Born Again" is recapped. The series is about a group of high school students who want to become astronauts and enter a very elite school for training. The show is just seven episodes long and if I recall correctly the sixth episode was the second saddest I've ever seen in a Japanese drama.
One small two page spread here from the February issue of Ginger.
Up until 2016 Nanami appeared at so many events plus had quite a few mag spreads, not many from then up until recently. Even though this is her first post in 56 months she has 23 of them so you know what kind of mega fave she was of mine when this blog started off. Have three new mag spreads which are promoting the new drama along with the "Flowering" photobook. Have only seen two pics from it but wouldn't think it'd be one loaded with gravure pics such as Idol books which is fine by me. Nanami will be turning 28 in October but still looks so much better than most of these current disposable Idols. This set is from the May 26th edition of SPA!, really love her more mature look.
Another superb set from the June 4th issue of Shukan Bunshun.
This new photobook may be a solid seller as I have a feeling there's going to be very few released the next couple of months, can't think of any that are scheduled. Nanami is the cover girl once again for this final spread that's from the June 5th edition of Friday. Bet most forget but Nanami was a member of the J-Pop group bump.y up until 2014 and will admit they were a guilty pleasure of mine. Have a video of one of their tunes after the pics which is "Kiss!', it hit #25 on the charts and sadly none of their singles made the top ten but I enjoyed their songs.
