"Girl Gun Lady" drama: Episode one of ten recap

Air Dates: April 7th until June 9, 2021 on MBS at 1:00 am, total of ten episodes
Subs are done by Bandai and the shows can be found at their YT channel

Main Cast: The actual recaps should be easy enough to do and not all that long though the first one often is to set up the story and introduce most characters. The hard part will be doing this top section with the characters as there's so many and will probably be tweaking this in every post. Sei by far has the biggest role and we do see much of her team too. Many others we really haven't seen too much of yet so will  break things down by teams and keep editing the details as we go along. Each team has four members, the bottom character is the leader while the top three are students at the Minamoto high school. As you can see the team names go by the alphabet.... A, B, C, D and there may be more.

Team ALPHA TANGO

Sei Shiraishi as Koharu Tachibana.... Heroine of the show for lack of a better word. Koharu was an avid model builder who got out of the hobby but resumed it in the first episode. She made a figurine called Alice and the next thing Koharu knew she had been whisked away to a parallel world where her classmates were shooting guns at each other!

Momoka Ito as Natsuna Usui.... The school's track star and will be competing in the 800 meter Japan championship. But will she as Natsuna has only one live left(?).

Natsuki Deguchi as Akiho Inada.... Good friend of Natsuna's and loves science.

Yuno Ohara as Alice.... Commander of the team who lives in a parallel world as do the other commanders. Koharu first met Alice when she built a model that resembled her and think that's how all of the students became part of their team.

Team BRAVO TANGO

Manami Igashira as Chizuru Mizuno....

Yuuka Suzuki as Rin Otake....

Yura Someno as Aoi Umebayashi....

Rio Teramoto as Bianca.... Team commander

 Team CHARLIE TANGO

Azusa Ohara as Ichika Ikushima....

Rina Kannami as Futaba Ikushima....

Hina as Mitsue Amemiya....

Momoka Ishida as Charlotte.... Team commander

 Team DELTA TANGO

Ai Mikami as Rei Kitamoto....

Momoko Tanabe as Natsuki Higashino....

Utano Aoi as Kana Minami....

Sakura Ando as Daisy.... Team commander

Rest of the cast, twenty characters in all though won't be talking about them too often.

Anna Ishii as Matsuko Kadowaki.... Was once Koharu's best friend but they parted ways long ago. Matsuko is the main security chief for the school's student Security team and hates models though was once a fanatic of them. May become a 'player' as time goes on.

Aya Asahina as Mirei Hoshimiya.... Teacher for many of the students.

Masanari Wada as Kaoru Moriyama.... School's physician and is a model freak.

Gaku Hamada as the shop owner.... Owns the FFF shop where the girls purchase their models.

Whew, took a while to write that up but wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. Through three shows the only characters we know well are the ones from Team Alpha and Matsuko. There's twenty characters yet an episode is only 23+ minutes in length so we may never know much about many of them. Was going to have a trio of recaps but thought viewers would prefer just reading two at a time. So about every 4-5 days will have another pair and the whole series should be complete by mid-June.

Sei plays the main 'heroine' of Koharu and like so many other characters in shows such as this one she's kind of a weak and meek female. Koharu is a senior at the Minamoto high school and while not bullied she's a student almost all tend to ignore, as you can see above she says to herself 'I do exist'. Koharu had been the 'class teacher' one day and what that meant was cleaning the classroom. All didn't go well as Koharu had been knocked to the ground a few times by passing students as she was moving the desks into the hallway, scrapping her knee led Koharu to visit the school's physician Moriyama. He's an avid model builder and at one time so wasn't Koharu who confessed to the man deep down she still wants to build them. One person who won't is the student in the middle screenshot, that's Matsuko. At one time she was best friends with Koharu but they had a falling out, why hasn't been revealed yet. Matsuko is the leader of the school's student Security Team and told Moriyama to cover his models up, why would he listen to a student?

Heading home Koharu passed by the FFF shop and for the first time noticed some models in it's window. She was persuaded to enter the shop by it's owner and was this meeting prearranged? In that above bottom screenshot the owner was able to sell Koharu a new model set called 'Girl Gun Lady' and the owner assured her it would change her life, that was one understatement! As mentioned Koharu is an avid model builder but it was a passion she'd given up but thought perhaps her lonely life could use some cheering up so that night build the small figurine called Alice. Shortly after Koharu dozed off, when she arose she was sitting in her classroom and was it already the next day? No it wasn't and to Koharu's shock standing before her was the model she just built but now it was a full sized human. It's name is Alice and being Yuno they needed to emphasize her biggest assets....

The 'Girl Gun Fight' competition is an easy one to explain but there are many rules and different kinds of battles. As these posts go on will get to all of the details and some are in the intro leading off the post. Alice is the commander of the Alpha Tango team which Koharu has been placed on, naturally she wondered is this all a nightmare? Yes and no is the answer which will also be explained as the posts go on. Koharu was immediately thrown in the battle and she couldn't believe she was being fired upon by her classmates who comprised the Bravo Tango team. On Koharu's team were the two students Natsuna and Akiho who were the only ones who would ever act nice to Koharu.

But not in this setting as both were screaming at Koharu to pull her weight and start firing at the enemy! The gun that came with the Alice model is now real to Koharu's bewilderment but even though she and her mates were getting shot at she just couldn't bring herself to pulling the trigger. 'Just a rookie!' screamed the Bravo commander Bianca to her team and ordered them to hunt down Koharu to eliminate her! But luckily for Koharu she has two experienced teammates in Natsuna and Akiho who quickly whisked their new comrade away but time in the battle is ticking. Most of them have a time limit of thirty minutes but the rules change with every battle. The skirmish between Alpha and Bravo was winding down and neither team had 'killed' an opponent, who ever does kill more in these 'games' will acquire points.

Like all shorter dramas will squeeze everything into three segments. Jumping ahead a bit as it was said in the third show but acquiring points is the only way a team can get out of playing this deadly game, of course we don't know all of the details so early. Koharu has admitted to her teammates and Alice she's just too timid to shoot someone, even if her life depended on it! So the team devised a plan where Koharu wouldn't need to fire her gun but instead have a Bravo member chase after her. That's what happened and you can see the girl above who was MIzuno. She thought Koharu was trapped in a school corridor and it would be a victory for her Bravo team. But as Mizuno was about to pull the trigger popping up from behind some boxes was Natsuna and Akiho, with only seconds to spare in the battle you can see what the result was above.

So it was a victory for the Alpha team and much credit had to go to Koharu who kept her cool during the ordeal. But within a minute she disappeared from that parallel world and woke up in her bedroom, could Koharu have dreamt those events? She'll find out what really took place in the next recap as this episode came to it's conclusion. Plenty of screenshots here to follow the 23 minute show better and you can always go to the YT channel to view it. Starting with the third recap will add in a section about the rules in the intro, we learn so much more about the 'game' in the next two episodes. Recap for the second show is the next post and what a fast paced drama this is turning out to be.
