Hinako Sakurai: "Gohoubi Gohan" drama, episode six recap

Air Dates: October 2nd to December 19th Sunday nights at midnight on BS TV-Tokyo
Total of twelve episodes, 23 minutes a show and subs were done by Macthitza at DA

Main Cast: Small cast and all the characters are quite likable, through seven episodes Hinako has been in 100% of the scenes.

Hinako Sakura as Sakiko Ikeda.... 22 year old woman who has just moved to Tokyo from Nagano and has begun work as an OL at the Suzume Stationary Company in the distribution department. Sakiko is an efficient worker but doesn't have enough confidence in herself, to make herself feel better Food has become her biggest passion. Doesn't matter if it's eating out or at home as Sakiko has such pleasure in the meals she consumes and it's quite hilarious watching her eat.

Sae Okazaki as Kaede Kominato.... Works at the same office and has been there a little while longer than Sakiko who at first was quite intimidated by Kaede. But at the end of the first show the pair bumped into each other at a ritzy burger shop, they found out they have so much in common and are becoming best friends.

Miku as Aoyagi.... Office manager at Suzume Stationary and Sakiko was petrified of her at first but after sharing a meal with her found out Aoyagi is a down to earth, funny woman.

Oolong Yoshida as Morigasaki.... One of the directors of the stationary company.

Kizuki as Honda.... Goofy office worker who became Sakiko's first 'friend' at the company.

Yuuki Furukawa as Makoto Isogai.... We just met him at the end of the second episode so will edit this bio, he's in the planning department and think his role will be important.

Guest star for this episode

Mona Nakao as Momoko Ikeda.... Sakiko's younger sister who is a high school senior in Nagano, she travelled to Tokyo this show to visit her sister.

Previous recaps:

At first was just going to recap half of this twelve episode series. But seeing as how the pair of posts today bring us to the seventh show may as well finish posting about the entire drama. But there won't be any posts for about two weeks as I'm now caught up with the team subbing this show. Hinako isn't popular here but she's one of my top actresses, she especially excels at playing goofy or odd  characters. I've been enjoying this series and it's nice to have a break from all of the serious ones I've viewed this year, would recommend this drama if you're into food. In the first four episodes her character Sakiko got to know her work mates so much better as she went out and dined with them. But for the second episode in a row we saw so little of the rest of the cast and why was that?

That's because it was a Saturday meaning no work but we have seen Sakiko work once before on that day. On this Saturday morning Sakiko  was sound asleep and was woken by a banging at the door, who should it be but her seventeen year old sister Momoko! We've seen her briefly in a few prior episodes but her screen time up until now was all of two minutes. Sakiko was stunned as her younger sister never said a word about visiting her, it was about an eight hour bus ride to Tokyo from Nagano. You'd think in a drama when sisters got together there would be a lot of fighting or snide remarks, that wasn't the case as the sisters really do like each other.

Sightseeing is what Momoko wanted to do, it was her first trip ever to Tokyo. However she couldn't have asked for a worst guide as Sakiko has rarely left her tiny apartment save to work at the Suzume Stationary company or visit a restaurant with one her her coworkers. Least Momoko shares one major trait with her sister which is that she loves to go out eating, the pair stopped at a restaurant for breakfast as it was still early in the day. Sakiko and her mates have had some fabulous looking dishes up until now but none compare to this breakfast she and Momoko ordered. Those bottom two screenshots above were their breakfast, doesn't that Banana and Chocolate pancake look so incredibly tempting? So didn't that Strawberry pancake and the two gals dove right in, Momoko is a but like her older sister as she goes a tad overboard with her enthusiasm when eating yummy dishes.

It was also time to rehash what had been taking place back in Nagano and unlike Sakiko attending college Momoko has told her she's planned on going to a vocational school. Their mother and grandmother have run a hairdresser salon in Nagano for many decades, Momoko figured her sister would be training at school to take over the family business. Seems the sister's family thinks so too but Momoko has other ideas on what she wants to learn at school.

That's to be an animal groomer and her plan is to open her own pet shop one day, unknown to everyone on the Ikeda family Momoko has loved animals since an early age. That decision kind of stunned Sakiko, though they're close she never realized what her sister's dream was. Momoko feels her mother will be so disappointed if she doesn't go to school to learn hairdressing, will she be forced into doing that? According to Sakiko the answer will be NO and she'll stand behind her sister 100% to convince their mother to let Momoko pursue her dream. Sakiko really wants to help out so much after she learned what it's been like back in Nagano, with Sakiko now in Tokyo Momoko has to do so many more chores and help out at the salon. For now that situation appears to be settled, when she returns to Nagano Momoko will try to convince her mother to let her chase that dream but would love for Sakiko to be there with her.

Must be in the Ikeda family genes that there's no way to get full as upon returning to Sakiko's apartment it was time to chow down some more food! But as we'll see in the next episode eating so much does have some drawbacks, such as gaining too much weight! Sakiko is an excellent cook and unknown to her Momoko had loved her 'Ikeda Family Specials' she would prepare on Saturdays back in Nagano. Sakiko could whip up something ultra tasty from leftovers which was what those specials consisted of, to be nostalgic Sakiko took her own leftovers and prepared a grand rice dish with just about everything thrown in.

Another thing unknown to Sakiko was that Momoko had a semi-boyfriend back in Nagano, say semi as the pair have broken up a few times. Sakiko is the worst person to ask for dating advice for at 22 in age she's never been on a date! That boyfriend wouldn't be a long term one anyways for if Momoko does attend a animal grooming school it would be in Tokyo. Short visit for Momoko as it quickly became Sunday morning and she had to take the eight hour bus ride back to Nagano. Another solid episode and all have been that way up until now. But do prefer it when Sakiko eats out with her mates from work and it gets back to being that way in the next episode, that's the following post.
