"Nanji no Na" drama, episode six of eight recap

Air Dates: April 6th until May 25, 2022 on TV-Tokyo, Wednesday nights at 12:30 am
Subs were done by GEO9875 at DA, also has the title of Your Name.

Main Cast: Wrote this up after viewing two episodes and have been making many edits to the character's bios, what a confusing drama it was at first.

Hirona Yamazaki as Toko Aso.... Her real name is Riyako Mikami and is using the identity of another character in this show which will be explained in the recaps. She works as the president of the ETS agency which is a front as it's not a dispatching company but one that destroys people's lives! Riyako is such a stuck up person and we'll be learning what her background was before the name change as I'm very curious about it.

Kii Kitano as Hisae Aso.... The real sister of Toko though her last name isn't Aso but Mikami too. Hisae is a bit of a shut-in and has been that way for three years since breaking up with her boyfriend. At the time Hisae was working at a pharmaceutical company and seems to know every kind of medicine created. She takes care of the household for 'Toko' but her sister has a love/hate relationship with her and constantly berates her. Actually as we learned in the fourth show the two aren't sisters(!) but friends since high school.

Mijika Nagai as The Mysterious Woman.... But she does have a name and she's the real Toko Aso! Years before she had fallen heavily into debt and 'thanks' to Kawashima's company they were all paid off. But the price was that Riyako would be allowed to assume her identity for five years and these days the real Toko is a drug addict and very down on her luck. In the fourth show she died of an overdose but it was no accident!

Hidekazu Mashima as Koji Kawashima....Owns the ETS agency which says it's a dispatching company but that's a front. Their main objective is to bring down an individual such as someone who owes money, is gong through a divorce and such, will explain it better as time goes on.

Waku Kyoten as Kyohei Ito... Only saw him in the first show and he's a whiz at computers who just won a prestigious web designer award. He seems to love Toko but those feelings will never be returned.

Naoto Kataoka as Ryosuke Iki.... Is a manager at the esteemed Crown Hotel who has had his eye on Toko for a while, we didn't meet him until the end of the second episode. But by episode four him and Toko have struck up a close relationship.

ETS.... In the third episode we did learn more about this company though much of it was lies Toko was telling Iki. It stands for Extra Talent Staff and Toko told him the agency hires actors to help others in their lives. For instance if someone needed an escort, a grandmother wanted a grandson for a party, etc. In other words to bring some joy to a person's life but in reality ETS brings havoc to a person's life such as a vengeful wife wanting to disgrace her husband and other things along that line, we've seen one life destroyed already by Toko.

Previous recaps

These episodes are getting a bit more intense though the final scene may have been just a bit too long. If you've been reading these you know what the real Hisae is like, not a bullied and meek woman but someone who may be a serial killer! Hisae is still so scared to death her 'sister' Toko is getting too close to her new boyfriend Iki, if marriage ever happens what's to become of Hisae? Iki will be coming for dinner that Saturday as he wants to get to know Hisae a bit better and that's what she's talking about in the top screenshot and he knows some about the past the two 'sisters' have shared together. But of course Hisae and Toko aren't real sisters which was explained two episodes ago.

In that second screenshot Toko was complaining a bit about having stomach pains, we viewers weren't aware at the time but could that have been an omen for how this show ends? The next three are of Iki at Toko's ETS office and we haven't seen her on any new cases for three episodes now or since she was attacked at the beginning of the fourth show by a man she disgraced, Iba. Now that Toko has told Iki her true name is Riyako Mikami she wants to go back to using it as the real Toko is dead. Also during that scene Iki once again brought up the subject of the two of them travelling to Paris but it wouldn't be for a few months, does Toko have an up to date passport? That she doesn't and for that she would have to use her real name of Riyako, wonder if the pair would return if they went to France? Iki brought up a topic which was did the police contact Toko about the dead body of Shinako Aso who was the real Toko Aso? No they hadn't and Toko was wondering why, in that bottom screenshot above she was asking Hisae was she hiding anything about the identifying the body?

That identifying the body brought up a few questions from me such as why would Toko need to ID the body and why would the police want her to do so? There was nothing on the body of Shinako Aso that could have linked her to the fake Toko aka Riyako so shouldn't all of that been mute points? Obviously not for as you can see above Hisae went to the police and identified the body as being Shinako Aso plus showed them an ID saying she was Toko, where did he get that? Of course Hisae wanted to be the one to visit the police as she was the person that gave Shinako the drugs that killed her, she also lied to Toko saying she wanted to spare her 'sister' of any misery. For the last few episodes Toko has been noticing a change in Hisae, she's not acting like the girl she's known since high school and she even muttered that to herself above.

It's Saturday night and Iki arrived for his grand dinner. Besides being a whiz at the field of medicine Hisae is also an ace in the kitchen and what a feast she put out for the man who could one day be her.... brother in law???? Iki was in high spirits throughout the meal but that wasn't the case for Toko who still felt under the weather, she had gone to a doctor who said he was just exhausted but didn't do a well enough exam. So Toko was quiet during this evening which didn't appear to last that long, Iki seemed to be on his way not long after the dinner. You can see him above mentioning Paris again and one grand plan he has is to open a hotel there with him and Toko running the place.

This final scene lasted about six minutes which isn't too long for regular dramas but it is for a show that only lasts for 23 minutes. Immediately after Iki departed Toko had to use the wall for support as she was about to pass out, what's happening to me she mumbled? As you can see in some of the above screenshots Toko was able to make it back to her bedroom and passed right out. During this time we saw Hisae on the computer and it was to check out some drug but it was mainly to let us know what kind she had been feeding Toko! Yes, that scene at the beginning with Toko moaning about her stomach was just the start of Hisae's plan as she had been putting Tramadol Hydrochloride in Toko's drinks. This drug is an opiate which affects the brain and how it reacts to pain and such, with heavy doses it can cause even death!!!!

That dinner took place on a Saturday night, when Toko next arose to her astonishment it was Tuesday morning as she had been passed out for over three days!!!! Telling her that was Hisae and Toko was in such poor condition as she could barely utter a word to her 'sister'. Of course HIsae didn't let on what she had been doing to Toko who was too numb to move or do anything to escape from Hisae as she did begin to realize that she was behind this mysterious illness of Toko's. That Hisae does have a bit of an eerie laugh and she for the first time in her life laughing is what she did to Toko who is just so baffled by the situation. That's how this episode ended with Toko unable to move from her bed and what evil plans does this now deranged and out of control Hisae have for the woman she once worshipped? Two more episodes to go and haven't viewed either one of them so really don't have any idea on how this series will end, will have both those recaps by this weekend.
