Korean drama: "Night Has Come", episode two of twelve recap

Air Dates: December 4th until December 21, 2023 on U+ Mobile TV, aired on Monday to Thursday nights for three weeks and there were a total of twelve episodes that were about 35 minutes in length.
Director: Im Dae-Woong Writer: Kang Min-Ji.... subs by MrHulk

Main Cast: Always need to edit the info at the top as we go along, may set a record for this show with how many changes there will be! One problem could be who to add onto this list? The top few characters should be around for most of the series but besides them who knows what character(s) will be killed off in each show! Below is the chart featuring everyone who was around in the first show, slowly most will be killed off! The basic premise is that this is heavily influenced by the 'Werewolf Game' films and TV series. The setting is the Muryeong Retreat Center where three classes from the Yooil high school would be spending two+ days at. However only one bus arrived which was for class 2-E, what happened to the other students?

Right below is the chart of the characters and many will be killed off, already four through two episodes! The characters in the middle are your more major ones so will have most of them listed below, only a few if any of the side ones. This takeoff from Werewolf is called the 'Mafia Game', more info on the game a bit further down. If you like horror dramas and films this may be right up your alley as the killings have been quite gruesome.

Lee Jae-In as Lee Yoon-Seo.... It seems she will get more screen time than any other character though she does remain a bit of a mystery. Yoon-Seo appears to be a smart student and is best friends with Jung-Won, they're rooming together at the retreat center. Yoon-Seo is a daring young woman but is also easily scared, she has such a huge crush on the next student. Her game position is that of a Citizen. After two episodes she's the only living student who I know what her game designation is.

Kim Woo-Suk as Kim Joon-Hee.... Class president and seems like a very responsible young man though does try a bit too hard in making sure order is kept among the students. Yoon-Seo above has a crush on him but not sure if Joon-Hee has realized that. But did get the impression in episode one he too has a crush on Yoon-Seo, both are too timid to confess to each other.

Choi Ye-Bin as Oh Jung-Won.... Yoon-Seo's best friend who is a tech whiz and also the number one student in her class at Yooil high school. So far she's been a very conservative young woman who does not like to take chances.

Cha Woo-Min as Go Kyung-Jun.... Every class has their 'toughie' and that's what Kyung-Jun is though really when only surrounded by his two cohorts. That's him in the middle below, to his left are his two 'gang' members Seung-Bin and Jin-Ha.

Jung So-ri as Kim So-Mi.... Pretty and popular girl but can be a bully and has picked on Yoon-Seo on occasion but don't know why. She's the class vice president and is in the middle below.

Hong Min-Ki as Jang Hyun-Ho.... One of the school's best athletes and can't stand the bully Kyung-Jun as he constantly stops him from picking on others.

Ahn Ji-Ho as Jin Da-Bum.... Seems like a decent guy but him and his best mate Ju-Won are constantly harassed by Kyung-Jun and his two cohorts who also make them pay a fee for not beating them up!

There are others and may add in some more in if they survive to the halfway point! Below on the right is the student's teacher Kim who we only saw briefly in the first show. He left the retreat to see what happened to the other two busses and hasn't been heard from since.

Rules for playing the Mafia Game

Like the 'Werewolf Game' there are four kinds of people a player can be. Citizen is your average person and most students will be one. Mafia is a group that can kill the targeted person between midnight and 6:00 am. Doctor is someone that can save a targeted person from the Mafia and don't think there's more than one or two of them. Fourth and last kind of player is Police, they can also prevent a killing but so far not sure how and what their powers are. The voting off of a student has to be done by midnight, they vote for who they think has the identity of a Mafia. The vote may not be correct/just as a Citizen could get killed and seeing as how there's many more of them it does happen often.

The Citizens, Doctors and Police are part of one team, Mafia are by themselves. Whichever side gets wiped out first means they're all dead(!) and the other team wins. There seems to be about thirty students, it hasn't been revealed how many are Citizens, Mafia, etc. There is a boundary surrounding the retreat but it does stretch into the nearby forest, if you go over the boundary you're immediately killed in a gruesome manner. There's no cell phone service to the outside but whoever is running this death game can send the students messages which baffles them, how are they doing that?

List of those who have been killed, will be updating it for each recap

There was one death in the first show but four in episode two!

Heo-Yul.... Boy who was a citizen, died at the end of the first episode as he was voted off the game by his classmates! His death was from jumping through a third story window.

Choi Ju-Won.... Was killed overnight but not discovered until the following morning, it almost appears he may have killed himself in a bathroom stall. The death had to take place between midnight and 6:00 am, the only ones that can kill are those classified as Mafia. Which Jun-Won was so why would his own group kill him the students wondered?

Kim Hyun-Saek and Lee Sang-Hwan.... Both were citizens and killed at the same time in episode two and both had a part in the others death. The two boys had stepped over the boundary line outside of the retreat, that means an instant death. An eerie sound was heard but only by them too, both began to head butt each other brutally before taking their own lives!!!!

Kim Dong-Hyun.... Fourth student killed in the second episode and it happened right at the end. Dong-Hyun was in the nearby forest with many other students, he fell and went over the boundary line. Like the other dead students his eyes became a solid white and he even punctured them with his fingers before rolling into a tree stump which was the final blow.

Behind the scenes video for the first two shows, will try to have a new one for each recap.

Thanks for reading this and the above recap, hope to have another below this one. It's Saturday morning and a nice goal that I'm aiming for is to have three recaps for tomorrow morning so I can have four batches of three recaps. It's not that I can't write this up, view episode three and write that up in a day but would also like to have three regular posts and did I accomplish that? EDIT: YES and have been into this drama so much even wrote up the recap for episode four! That above section is extremely important, almost as key as reading the recaps. Will update it for every post and added in four names that were killed off in this show! Wow, this has been one action packed and gory drama up to now and don't think things will be slowing down. Having a huge info section above also means the recaps can be held to just three segments even though so much does take place. The top two screenshots below are how the first show ended, Heo-Yol was the first victim of the Mafia Game and had thrown himself out of a window right after midnight. Just after that an eerie sound came from the speakers which sent the thirty remaining students into a coma like state. They did arise the next morning and now let's get to what took place in episode two.

Heo-Yol's death came right at the end of the first episode. This show was 35 minutes in length and there were four killings, so that makes five in a little over 35 minutes or one every seven minutes! Shortly after arising the thirty remaining students received another message and they still have no clue who is sending them and how. As it shows in the third screenshot above there's another dead student who was Choi Ju-Won. He was in a bathroom stall and though it wasn't said it appeared he banged his forehead several times against the door's coat hanger which led to his death. A person can only be killed by the Mafia between the hours of midnight and 6:00 am, if they make it a minute past they're safe or at least until the next vote. The somewhat heroine Yoon-Seo brought up a very astute point about his death. In the text message it said that Choi was part of Mafia, can they or did they kill one of their own? But Yoon-Seo did feel that the body was still a bit too warm, was Choi perhaps killed in the last hour and if so who could have done it? This was a confusing death though soon forgotten about as the amount of dead bodies keeps rising!

There will be so many unanswered questions for a while, mainly about who is running the Mafia Game and how plus why? Now there's 29 students left and for the first time since arriving at the Muryeong Resort Center they went outside of the building, one reason was to think what to do with Heo-Yol's bloody body. While outside the students noticed a white line that circled most of the building but not the entire thing, being curious some were about to cross the line. But were warned by an outside speaker that crossing the line would result in their deaths, are there cameras watching them? There were two brave souls or perhaps complete fools who attempted to cross the line, that was the last mistake they ever made. The two were Hyan-Saek and Sang-Hwan, a few seconds after they crossed the line an odd sound came from the speakers and only they could hear it. Immediately their eyes rolled back into their head and turned solid white, the two then began head butting each other with such force! That went on for a while until both crumbled but the pair got back up and finished the act of killing upon their own selves!!!! Those are the two above and while a short scene it was very, very gruesome and needless to say the students were in such a panic viewing what took place. So after a third of this show three more students have been killed, all by their own hands and now we're down to 27.

Of the four killed so far three were in the Citizen group, one in the Mafia. Know that Yoon-Seo is a Citizen but as of now don't know what group any other student is in and don't think they know either. Two screenshots above show a group going into a forest mountain, will have their tale coming right up. For now the the students have moved the four dead bodies to the retreat's huge freezer and that was one creepy task for them. But the freezer just won't get cold enough and there are just so many unexplained things about this building. Which does contain a cafeteria full of food and supplies as you can see above. The thug/bully Kyung-Jun had found a set of keys and kept that secret from the others except for his two mates. So the trio know where plenty of food is and after that mini scene it was never mentioned again so will they use that to their advantage in the future? In the third to last screenshot Yoon-Seo did find a computer room but all were turned off and wouldn't start up for her. But after Yoon-Seo left they came to life, the happenings are much more creepy on screen than reading about them. Yoon-Seo's best friend is Jung-Won who is above in glasses. She's a tech whiz and also the smartest student in their class, she tried working on the dead student's phones to no avail, why did they suddenly stop working?

Yoon-Seo had a hunch that when a person dies their phones cease to operate and that could be true, do these phones also track the student's pulse and movements? One thing that Jung-Won noticed was that the phones didn't need to be plugged in, the battery always remained at 56% and how was that possible? There's still ten shows to go so of course these mysteries will eventually be answered, now on to the group that will be making a hike up the nearby forest mountain. It was discovered the White Boundary didn't completely encircle the resort, there was a skinny path that led into the forest. They did a brief test with some sticks and as long as the students stayed between the lines they were safe. So seven(8?) volunteered to take the hike into the forest and get help, the leader would be the class president Jun-Hee. Joining him was the best athlete in class Hyun-Ho, the bully Kyung-Jun, the class VP So-Mi, a girl named Na-Hee plus the boy Dong-Hyun, and one other girl named Eun-Ha. Jun-Hee recalled passing by at least one store on the trip to the resort, so that's their destination but any place or anyone is who they are looking for. A question  that was never asked was how long does this boundary go on for? Seems as though they trekked for a few miles and it's a never ending trail. Just occurred to me now that in a cruel twist it could lead back to the retreat!

The group did pass the ocean but couldn't go down to it as it would be leaving the white boundary path and an instant death. It was a rugged path and it wasn't easy going for the group, as a matter of fact one girl fell and sprained her ankle. That was Na-Hee and Hyun-Ho suggested they go back but was overruled by the class president Jun-Hee. He surmised they may have gone over halfway to their destination and it would be the same distance if they returned, what a waste that would be. So-Mi seemed to have some power over Na-Hee as she kept telling the girl she was fine and let's go on, Na-Hee reluctantly agreed. Near the top of the mountain a pair of men were seen standing on a rock jutting into the ocean, the students screamed for help. They had been spotted via a camcorder, upon zooming in closer the two men never moved and were they stick figures? Never mind that oddity but the Gulls in the sky weren't flying, they were stationary and how could that be possible?

Getting close to the end and in the forest it was tougher to follow the white boundary lines. So-Mi and Dong-Hyun wandered off seeing if they could pick up the trail again which they did. However Dong-Hyun was standing on a dirt slope and tumbled down, just over the boundary line! He tried to scoot back over but once you cross the line there's no way to take it back, like the others his eyes rolled into his head and became solid white. In another very gruesome scene Dong-Hyun plunged his fingers into his eyes and practically tore them out, by this time the other students had arrived and were watching helplessly. There was blood streaming non stop from Dong-Hyun's eyes, he soon fell over and rolled down the slope into a sharp tree branch, that was it for him and he's now the fifth victim! **** A question arise in the third show, was Dong-Hyun actually pushed by So-Mi and it appears that may have happened! What a gory and frightening ending as the episode came to it's conclusion with that death, never thought this drama would be so horrific! But in a way glad it is as the intensity has been non stop and the following post is for the third episode, more screenshots below of what took place in this show.
