"Living no Matsunaga-san".... Episode six of ten recap

Air Dates: January 9th until March 12, 2024. Tuesdays at 11:00 pm on Fuji-TV
There's ten episodes which average ~23 minutes a show, subs were done by Blitz Subs

Main Cast: If there's anyone who has read many of the dramas I've recapped you know this is an odd one for me. Usually the genre(s) are for police/mystery/suspense/horror shows but every now and again need something a bit mellow or at least not as intense. Which is what this series will be like, viewed the first two episodes which were decent so thought why not recap this drama? Plus I did want to watch a show that featured Hikaru and she has the main female role in this. In real life she will be turning 23 later on this year but in this show plays an 18 year old high school senior named Miko. There will be no love theme in this show as the main male character Jun is 29 in age, I kind of liken his relationship with Miko as being her much older brother. Wrote the character details after the first two shows but know for the third episode there will be a new character added in. To date every scene has featured either Miko or Jun so not all that much is known yet about the others major characters but sure that will change and will edit this section, right below is the 365 Share House.

Hikaru Takahashi as Miko Sonoda.... 18 year old HS senior who lives in Tokyo. However in the first episode her parents were planning on moving to Wakayama as her grandmother was sick and they needed to run her Hot Springs resort. Of course Miko wanted to remain in Tokyo for her final year but she needed a guardian to watch over her. Which at first was her uncle Masahiko and Miko moved into his 365 Share House so all seemed acceptable to her parents. However Masahiko's company was sending him overseas for a few months, would Miko have to move to Wakayama? NO for the second oldest person at the 365 Share House Jun said he would be Miko's guardian which sounded odd at first to the mother who did eventually agree and what kind of adventures will Miko have at the house?

Kento Nakajima as Jun Matsunaga.... The title of the drama is named after him and can't tell you exactly why. Jun is a 29 year old freelance designer, mainly for book and magazine covers. Now that Miko's uncle has left for a while Jun seems to be the head of the Share House, he can be overly strict and at first did try to give Miko house rules as he's her unofficial guardian. But think deep down Jun is a bit soft hearted and he does care about everyone living at the house. Below is the uncle Masahiko, won't add him into this section as we may not see him again. Jun also has the annoying habit of adding in an extra I to Miko's name meaning he calls her Miiko. His parents died when Jun was young and has lived at the Share House for three years.

Koji Mukai as Kentaro Suzuki.... The other male(for a while) at the 365 Share House, Kentaro is known to be a bit of a playboy and works as a bartender.

Tomoka Kurokawa as Asako Onuki... This is an actress I like a lot and have seen her in a few other dramas. Asako is the oldest of the 365 Share House residents and owns a nail salon shop in Shibuya.

Sakurako Okubo as Akane Hattori.... 23 year old who works PT at a curry restaurant, Akane is a bit daffy but seems to be so likable.

Taiyu Fujiwara as Ryo Hojo.... We saw him briefly in the first episode as he was going to move into the house. However Ryo thought it was a regular apartment not a room so he ended up not moving in. But he did at the beginning of the third show as there was an empty room due to Masahiko moving out, Ryo never quite explained why he changed his mind. He's a shy man in his young twenties, works a PT job and is a medical student.

Previous recaps

You may recall the woman in the bottom screenshot, there are more of her in the recap. That's Yumi from Nogi or should say once was with them and she plays a temp teacher named Konatsu Kobayashi, she'll also be in the next few episodes and will get to her info during the recap. The top two screenshots were a continuation on how the last show ended, this was the first two part story and it actually may be three parts. Jun had saved Miko from some creep who had met her at the coffee shop she had a temp job at. After getting rid of this man Jun asked Miko straight out.... 'Was she dating Ryo?' who was viewing the action from behind some bushes. Miko denied that was happening and being her guardian Jun does jump to conclusions, Ryo popped out and said what Miko claimed was true. She was just helping out at the coffee shop for two weeks while the manager was out, they felt if they asked Jun he would say no to Miko working. Jun said he wouldn't have refused but then again I did wonder, easy to say that after the fact.

It's just one day before Valentine's, Miko had wanted to buy Jun some chocolate for the day but hadn't been paid yet. So she was telling her best mates Maho and Richan that she would bake the sweets herself but it would be tough as Jun is always in the living room which is an offshoot from the kitchen. Right then is when the temp teacher Konatsu Kobayashi stopped the girls to remind them that their post graduation plans were due, also that there would be a parent-teacher meeting for it. Miko hadn't even begun on her plan and at this point has no clue what she wants to do in the future. Her parents are in Wakayama helping out Miko's grandmother with her Sauna Resort, the mother will have a tele-conference call with Konatsu. Later that night Miko did bake that chocolate in her room but couldn't think of  message to write, there was no way she could pen 'I Love You Jun'!!!! During that time Jun and his two male housemates were enjoying some beers in the living room, Kentaro asked Jun if he had seen his old girlfriend since she returned to town. To that Jun replied no and wouldn't you know, his old flame is Miko's new teacher Konatsu!

When Miko's mother heard she hadn't even filled out her post graduation plans she rushed back to Tokyo(?) and would have the meeting face to face with Konatsu. That was a shock to Miko and what made it worse was that her mother would be at the 365 Share House in an hour! So Miko rushed to clean up her room as it still had all the baking supplies she had used to make Jun's chocolate the night before. He did try to help with the cleaning but Miko threw him out before he could discover her secret. Above you can see her creation which does look good but Miko still couldn't decide what message to put on it, in the end run she put nothing. So Miko's mother arrived at the Share House and she is a very nice woman, open minded too as how many mothers would allow their daughter to live in a Share House with five adults?!

Miko's mother will be spending two days at the house, her daughter did confess that first night she really didn't have any plans for the future which is very common for those in high school. But being around five working adults to the mother has paid off, Miko seems so much more responsible plus she is learning more about Work as all five at the house have different kinds of jobs. Throughout this series Jun has playfully added in an extra I when referring to Miko, noticed he dropped that while talking with her mother. The current date is February 14th/Valentine's Day and in a surprise when Asako returned home she brought Kentaro a box of chocolates. To date he somewhat seemed to have a crush on her and why not as Asako is very attractive but never knew and still don't know if he was just playing around.

Jun had prepared a tasty pasta lunch for the mother, later that afternoon is when she would have that meeting with Miko's teacher Konatsu. While Miko was waiting outside the school her mother called, the grandmother in Wakayama had hurt her leg. It wasn't serious but she would be rushing back to help her father out with the Resort but told Miko not to worry as she had a replacement. Which baffled Miko though we all knew it had to be her guardian Jun and you can see him arriving looking quite spiffy above. It's still Valentine's Day so while they were waiting outside of Konatsu's office for the meeting Miko finally gave Jun his special homemade chocolate. Which did flatter him and Miko confessed she had no idea what kind of message to write, there was no way she could admit to saying 'I Love You Jun' which was what she wanted to pen.

Jun said no message was fine, when Miko could think of something inspiring bake him another chocolate with the message and give it to him. Its finally time for the meeting and also the showdown with the two ex-lovers, of course Jun had no clue that Konatsu was Miko's new teacher. And naturally she had no idea that Jun was her guardian and that Miko lived at the 365 Share House with him and others, the episode ended with those above two screenshots. So that scene will continue on into at least the next show plus possibly one other thing. Jun's birthday will be in a week and Miko has 10,000 yen to spend on a present, what will she get her secret crush and will she get Jun anything now knowing he had been dating Konatsu? Haven't viewed the next show so have no clue how this will turn out, hope to have the next set of recaps in 3-4 days.
