Maki Horikita: Oyaji no Senaka drama episode 5 recap and screenhsots

Going to make this a short and simple recap but that should be easy as this was quite a simple episode, kind of fluffy with really no point to it yet it was an okay watch as it moved right along and for the most part was enjoyable and interesting. This is a 10 episode Summer drama with a different cast for each show, haven't seen any of the other episodes yet but may go back and check on another one of the shows, there's a central theme to this series which is the relationships between a father and their son/daughter.

Main Cast: It was a fairly small cast featuring and really there were only four major characters who were  Maki Horikita, Kenichi Endo, Junpei Mizobata and Hiroko Yakushimaru

As mentioned above going to make this short as I got a bit burned out recently watching so many dramas and then doing so many recaps and such for them, was going to take a mini break but decided to make an exception for this special drama.

Maki plays the character of Doboru, that's her nickname as her real name is Mifuyu. She works as a traffic cop and her partner happens to be a young man she grew up with named Masaru who is also about to be married. Though he and Doboru have been friends since childhood his fiancee is a bit jealous of her and asks Masaru to stop being friends with him. She asked him to and he reluctantly agreed but never could go through with it severing their friendship and after Doboru met his future wife she became less jealous and took a liking also towards Doboru. That's one small portion of the storyline with the other one being the relationship of Doboru and her father.

Not sure why but Doboru still lives at home, she's fairly settled at her job so don't know why she hasn't moved out yet as her character is around 25 years old. Doboru and her father get along fine but she doesn't give the impression she's all that proud of him and the work he does. Her father is an actor, not a major star but one who is still somewhat popular for the roles he plays which are always a villain or some sort of bad guy. One day during a walk they were having he suddenly suffered a severe aneurysm attack(?) and was rushed to the hospital. During this time they became a bit closer and revealed a few things to each other why they hadn't been closer before which sort of ends the show. One other thing that happened right at the end was that after being asked by Masaru to not attend his wedding Doboru was suddenly invited as his fiancee had a change of heart, episode ends in a sort of fairy tale way though at least it wasn't overly sappy.

For the most part that covers everything in the episode, may have left out a few minor things but if so you can follow the story a bit better in the screenshots. The show was only 45 minutes long, you'd expect specials like this to be a bit longer but hat's okay as if it was a bit longer nay have bogged down a bit. Like I mentioned haven't seen any of the other episodes so don't know if this show was better or worse than the others but overall it was a pleasant watch, not a must see but of you're a Maki fan that would recommend a watch. Have a ton of screenshots here too as you-know-who looked fabulous as usual, hope there's not a long wait until her next drama though I know she's not going to be in one for the Fall season.
