Bit of a different drama or at least compared to the ones I usually post about. No Idols nor are there any huge faves of mine in this series though I do like Fumino quite a bit, just haven't done any posts for her yet. Tori is also a solid actor, actually the whole cast is quite good and have seen most of them in many other dramas so thought I'd give this show a chance.
Will try to keep this somewhat short, could be tough as it was over a 90 minute first episode, kind of like watching a movie when a show is that long. Have come into this drama cold, had no idea about the plot or anything else about the series so hopefully things will work out.
Did the above a few days ago for a head start as I had only watched about the first 55 minutes of this first episode. Now have a clue about what the series will be about and should be an easier one to recap as it's going to be one continuous story throughout. And the plot will be dealing with a serial killer, have a solid idea who it is but it's so obvious the character may not end up being the killer. Most of the first episode, like most other dramas, mainly introduced us to the major characters. Most of the recap then will also be introducing to you the characters, won't give away too much of the plot yet but will let you know the major details.

First off are the pair of Shinobu and Yuki, besides being partners on the police force they're also partners outside of work. They don't live together yet but Yuki does spend most of her time at Shinobu's place, the two have kept it a secret from all others at the station. Dating is allowed but they feel it could prevent any future promotions as they're both a bit low on the totem pole.
They work for the Mobile Investigation Unit which is a unit that's usually first on the scene of a crime. They take care of securing the scene, try to hunt down witnesses and mainly get everything set up for the detectives who will be solving the crime. Seems one or both though could soon be in line for a promotion, while they do want to move ahead they also realize they'll be separated if it happens. The pair also have a promise that if one does get a promotion then they'll get married, both seem very competent so would think it would happen to one of them soon.

These are their superiors at the station led by Chief Ando. Their immediate superior is Chitose who is always supporting Shinobu and Yuki, the same can't be said about Ando who usually has some harsh words for the pair though I think he really respects their efficient work. Hayami is another detective at the station who seems to work on most of the cases they find, he's another who doesn't have many good things to say about the pair but he also deep down knows they do a solid job.

Last major character for now is Kara who is so, so mysterious. Watching the first episode you would presume she is the serial killer, we've already seen her kill one person and it also appears as though as though she may have killed at least three others. One major question surrounds her and that's what her link to Yuki is? Kara seems to know her from a while ago, something happened in their past yet Yuki has no idea who Kara is. Kara has moved into an apartment right across from Shinobu so she can keep an eye on Yuki, looks like she's going to be a future victim.

Think there may be a few more major characters but these five in the first episode were the ones we saw the most of, will give the details of any others that come along in future recaps. Briefly the crime scenes Shinobu and Yuki worked at this episode all had to do with a murder, four in all and even though they're not assigned to the case can easily see it happening. Shinobu seems to know the mentality serial killers quite well, his superiors don't always believe him but think they'll be changing their views on him soon.
There was one murder that happened to a cab driver, at first he was believed to be the killer as he had pictures of some of the victims on his phone. Looks like he did commit a few killings but even after he died the serial killing went on. The driver was killed by Kara and in a strange twist he had planned on killing her but she managed to escape from his clutches and turned the tables on him but murdering him.
The police naturally thought the killings would stop now but they continue and even at a faster rate as there were three more of seemingly overnight. One thing that's baffling the police is that a few of the murders have been made to look like suicides, they don't know what's been a murder and what's been a suicide including the final killing of the episode which happened to a friend of Kara's but who we watched kill her as she made it look like a suicide. And shortly after this long episode ended as Kara is developing plans to get even closer to Yuki though Shinobu now is a bit weary of Kara, he has some inkling that she may be involved in the murders but can't prove anything yet.

Hope there's enough info there without spoiling anything, it was quite a long episode but to it's credit it never dragged as the pace was very good even though there wasn't much action. Good for me to watch these dramas that don't have any of my big faves in the cast, think I may have missed too many good shows because of that. Hope this drama continues to be interesting, that was the biggest plus to this first episode and have a feeling it will, there's quite a few mysterious questions that need to be answered. As usual the following post has a mega amount of screenshots from the episode, anything left out of the story you should be able to find out by viewing the pics.
