Welcome to my humble site....

Hajimemashite minna san....welcome to my site on my fave Japanese Pop Culture likes such as dramas, movies, magazine scans, promo events etc. Mainly concentrate on my faves...Risa Watanabe... Kyoko Saito... Yui Kobayashi....Miyuki Watanabe.... Nene Shida.... if you're a fan at all of any of them then you've come to the right place(!) but many others are featured here besides them. Do mainly quick reviews on things I've watched, try to make the reviews brief, quick to read through with not too many spoilers, just whether they're good or bad and why I thought so plus whether you may find them enjoyable. Many, many screenshots are included from everything I've watched plus any video trailers if they're available. Hope you find something that interests you, don't hesitate to comment, arigato gozaimasu!

Rena Takeda: Few recent tidbits....

Wouldn't call this a 'lost year' for Rena as she has been busy but not nearly at the level she was the previous three years. She did appear in two dramas and made a few other guest appearances on some but all in all not much else besides a new film that just came out. Rena does have eight posts this year but only four in this vein for new activities after averaging over one a month for 2 1/2 years. Of course the health crisis has been a factor with her and so many of my other faves too. But to me what's really affected Rena to a larger extent is when she 'retired' from doing gavure spreads and books. There have been four book/pictorial posts this year but all of the pics were from 2019 and weren't released until this year. So what's really been lacking are appearances in magazines as the ones she used to appear in often don't want her because she doesn't do those kinds of pics these days.

But there's been 4-5 of other faves who also 'retired' from doing gravure photo shoots yet they've all returned to doing them. Perhaps they realized doing those spreads and books were their bread and butter, popular gravure models seem to make a decent salary so it's hard to give that kind of $$ up. So wouldn't surprise me if Rena did start again on the pics that have made her so famous, even if she doesn't would still always post about her as she's a decent woman in my eyes. It's been extremely rare these days for an actress/model to hit 100 posts, it hasn't happened in over three years. But this year's #1 should hit that mark within three months, the only other actress who will also hit the century mark is Rena. This is post #74 and all have been in the last forty months so that milestone will be hit but not as soon as I would have expected. So she's had eight posts this year which means 66 in the previous
2 1/2 years, that's over two posts a month.

That's no knock on Rena if she stays retired from doing gravure pics, know she won't be as popular here but as mentioned she seems to be such a likable gal. Her last post was exactly three months ago on August 30th but there hasn't been all that many new things but do have over fifty pics for today. She will be the cover girl for the next two issues of Weekly Ascii so perhaps there can be another post next month. This small batch of pics are from an interview with the Get News site.

That interview was for the "Shin Samjima Jiken" movie which came out two days ago. Rena has the lead role in it, she's only had that honor once in a drama but has played the main role in four films and all have been horror ones. However they've all been low budget ones that haven't been massive hits nor can I find any subbed versions but will be looking after this post. The movie's poster and some promo pics from it, will also have the trailer at the bottom.

July 27th is the only time of the year when three huge faves of mine share a birthday but however the third didn't want to join this pair....

Rena has made two previous appearances on the yearly fave's list, not this year though but her partner will be on it for the third time. Pics here are from an event that took place on November 21st for the film. Events and such are allowed these days in Japan but the majority of the time there's no audience at them. This event took place at the Aeon Mall in Tokyo, it was held in a 'drive in theater' format, perhaps because it took place outside.

The film's premiere took place two days ago, November 27th, at the Ikebukuro Cinema Rosa in Tokyo. Rena's now 23 in age but she does have such a mature presence about her and I like the way she looks at these kinds of events. As mentioned will have the movie's trailer at the bottom of the post but have one other thing to get to first.

Last up is this spread from the November 18th issue of Weekly Shonen. Think her last three spread have been with the mag as they don't have all that many gravure pics, fairly sure she was the cover girl for all of them. After the pics is the "Shin Samejima Jiken" film trailer, perhaps we didn't see Rena as much this year because she was filming the movie. Say that for if you watch it you can see so many people with masks which is a recent happening.
