Saru Lock movie: synopsis and short review

Just like Manami's drama I just watched, Saijo no Meii, also had to view this unsubbed which makes all the difference in the world as far as understanding what's really going on, you can follow films like this reasonably okay but there is just so much you miss so hence it's going to be a short review, but like the drama I just watched of hers Manami is a reason, subs or not, to watch whatever she's in.

Saru is an ordinary high school boy who daydreams about idols but otherwise has no luck with girls. However, this silver-haired son of a locksmith also happens to be a lock-picking genius. When the beautiful Mayumi enlists his help to open a bank safe deposit box, they find a mysterious suitcase inside which contains money stolen from a bank--a detail Mayumi conveniently left out when describing the job. As it turns out, the suitcase also holds a secret that could have far-reaching implications for the police and undermine their authority. Soon, Saru and Mayumi are being hunted from all sides as the bank robbers attempt to recover their score and the police try to keep their secret from getting out.  Yahoo movies

Mentioned I watched it unsubbed, at first it didn't matter all that much but as the movie went on some of the finer details ended up being missed which is why this will be a short review, the above one for the most part explains everything well. One part left out is that the bankrobbers also had someone in the police department working for them or was she? The police detective was working undercover at the time of the robbery and had some ties with the crooks but to what extent couldn't quite figure out but by the end of the film she turned the table on the criminals and ended up being a bit of a hero but though it was never shown she was the person who ended up with the money from the robbery. Besides that bit it was an ordinary robbery and story, bit different as Mayumi tricked Yataro into stealing the money for her, her learned the hard way that ir wasn't exactly her money and the adventure began as they were chased all around by both the police and criminals. They both got caught but it was only Mayumi who ended up getting arrested but on the way to the station the bankrobbers caused an accident, stealing the money back and kidnapping Mayumi. Yataro and 2 of his friends find out where the money was hidden and steal it back but as they went to save Mayumi who had been locked in a car which was sent into a river the money once again was stolen from them by the crooks who had it for all of 5 minutes as the police were on to what was going on and quickly capturing them. Bit more happened after that such as the crooked detective restealing the money but missed too much of what exactly happened due to the lack of subs.

Hard for me to really give an honest review for movies or dramas like this, realize too much is missed due to lack of subs but at least for the first hour this was an easy enough movie to follow. Actually the first hour it was a real solid film, was enjoying it but then it started to really drag, pace went way down and just wasn't as much fun or interesting plus Manami's role decreased for a while in the film, she was the main/only reason I watched it. Overall though it seemed like a good enough movie, would recommend it especially if you understand the language, don't think this has ever been subbed in English, tried so hard to no avail to find some but don't believe what some of these sites say, there are none.

Lot more about this film and especially Manami in the next few posts, many screenshots of her from the movie plus some promo event pics and the trailer, if you're a Manami fan and I hope she's getting a few more after all these posrts on her, she's never looked better than she did in this film and that's really saying something, so if you're a fan again would watch this even though it's unsubbed, you're going to enjoy her in this movie.
