Will be updating the above as the recaps go on, some characters we haven't met yet and a few that we have met are still a bit unknown.
For the 'Janus' series was able to keep the recaps at 4-5 paragraphs which is my goal for this drama. An episode is 23 minutes in length so seems I should be able to keep these posts shorter than regular dramas without leaving any details out. Plus as usual will have an overabundance of screenshots which will help you follow the story better.
Picking right up where we left off and just like season one's Ai Mai had been locked in a VHS tape until it was played. Upon the person viewing it a Video Girl will appear out of the TV and serve the male watching the tape, Taketo was the lucky guy this time around. Needless to say he was overwhelmed by the appearance of Mai who told Taketo her only reason for 'living' was to make his life comfortable and to do whatever it takes to make him happy. As you can see above Mai's time limit on Earth is three months, after that a Video Girl somehow returns to her VHS tape.
This is a much darker show than the first season where Ai was such a happy go lucky girl but this time around Mai seems to be the complete opposite. As we'll see in most episodes she does want to make her master happy but the way she does it is to destroy the lives of so many men, least that's the way it's been in the first four shows. That bottom screenshot is of the new transfer student Yuna who Taketo had once gone to school with but she moved away eight years ago. Yuna has returned to the unnamed town to finish her schooling, she's now a very popular teen model who guys swoon over and is living with her grandparents as her own are separated.
Taketo has never forgotten about Yuna and wants to be with her so badly. Taketo has told Mai the one thing she could do to make him happy more than anything else is to set him up with Yuna. Not just for a date but he's confessed to Mai how desperately he wants to have sex with Yuna. There's a problem as she doesn't remember her old schoolmate plus every guy in the area wants to be with her, especially Sugisaki who is immensely popular at the high school.
That's Sugisaki in three of the above screenshots, he's started to get friendly with Yuna and Taketo is no match for the man. Sugisaki is a top notch soccer player who had been invited to try out for the national team but the question is will he be able to withstand the seductiveness of Mai? If you've viewed the 'Tomie' films then you'll have a good idea what kind of female Mai is. In no time men fall head over heels for her and once that happens they seem to be under her spell, nothing else matters then in their life except for trying to please Mai.
Mai isn't a student at the school but has been showing up there with the main purpose of seducing Sugisaki. Needless to say there was no way he could say no to Mai's advances and before you knew it nothing mattered in Sugisaki's life save for being with her. Am kind of shocked at how free Mai is sexually considering she's a character from an 80's video tape, also a bit surprised a popular Idol such as Mizuki would play such a sex charged character. The pair seem to have a sexual encounter every day which takes place in the school's broadcasting room, somehow they've never been discovered and now the only thing that matters in Sugisaki's life is Mai.
So her plan is working out to a T as before long Sugisaki has quit trying out for the national soccer team and also his school's team. All of the students are ashamed of his actions and before you knew it Sugisaki was at the bottom of the heap to the rest of the school. What makes matters worse is that after he's completely under Mai's spell is completely broken she disappeared as soon as she appeared, Sugisaki has no clue how to find his eternal love as his life is now completely destroyed. So chalk a victory up for Mai as Taketo's main rival is out of the way but the problem is that still didn't mean Yuna wanted to be his girl. But he's one step closer to his goal and in the next episode his dream is finally within his grasp.
Two men's lives in two episodes have been destroyed because of Mai, this show Sugisaki and in the first show it was Yanagi. Both guys are still living but the question is what's do become of them as that hasn't been answered yet. Will they be reappearing to get back at Mai, will they eventually just die away or could there be some other scenario? Hope there's some sort of finale to their fates which hasn't happened by the end of the fourth episode. Still ten shows to go and the third recap in this mini marathon follows this one.
