"Watashi no Otto wa Reitouko ni Nemutte Iru" drama: Episode four recap

Air Dates: April 10th until May 15, 2021 Friday nights at midnight on TV-Tokyo
Title translates over to My Husband is sleeping in the Freezer.... Subs by Mikilove13

Main Cast: There shouldn't be many changes that need to be done as it's such a short series though perhaps Ryo may have a second name.

Yuika Motokariya as Nana Kisaragi.... Nana is mainly a stay at home worker for an online shop selling imported furniture and other items. But her quiet life is suddenly thrown into turmoil as one night she couldn't take the abusive ways of her future husband Ryo and killed him! But things become much more eerie as he somehow has come back to life though his dead body was still stored in a freezer.

Jin Shirasu as Ryo Sato.... Nana's ex-boyfriend and say ex for she killed him in the beginning of the first show! But he somehow came back to life the following day yet his dead body is still in the freezer Nana stored him in, how is that possible???? All of Ryo's many enigmas will be answered in these final three recaps.

Yuki Saito as Kujaku.... Middle aged woman who is a mystery writer and lives across the street from Nana. She's also a very prying person who isn't married and claims to have never had a steady boyfriend though in the first show we did see a man come out of her house.

Miyoko Asada as Konome.... Nana's mother who is a psychiatrist and can't stand Ryo.

Sho Aoyagi as Kosuke Karasawa.... Local real estate agent who we met briefly in the second episode and he seems a bit suspicious to me. Even more so as time goes on as he's suddenly gotten to know Ryo fairly well and even hired him to work at his office.

Hajime Okayama as Makoto Akutsu.... Private investigator hired by Nana's mother to dig up info/dirt on Ryo and he's discovered some interesting tidbits.

Been a while since those first three recaps were done, April 29th to be exact so would help to skim through at least the final one to refresh your memory. For today have the final three recaps and it's only a six episode series. Haven't viewed any episode past this as I don't want to spoil my curiosity and have no clue how it'll end.

Very briefly this is where the drama stands after three episodes. In the first show Nana had killed her abusive husband-to-be Ryo and he did deserve it. She then stuffed his body into a freezer that was in a shed in her backyard. But the following morning who should be there for breakfast but Ryo! Nana has no clue how he came back to life, could he be a ghost as his body was still in the freezer. Towards the end of the third episode there were a couple of key incidents which were cliffhangers leading into this fourth show. One was that at the very end of episode three Ryo's body was no longer in the freezer! Second thing is that a private investigator named Akutsu had been delving into Ryo's life, he had been hired by Nana's mother. He discovered a few facts right at the end of the last show, one was that Ryo is probably not his real name and was tied up with a scamming outfit.

Somehow that dead body did reappear in the freezer, best at time not to wonder how(?). This entire episode takes place during a two hour stretch early in the evening, almost all of it took place at Nana's house. The one scene that happened away from the house was at Nana's mother's psychologist's office. Her name is Konome and she had a surprise urgent appointment with the real estate agent Karasawa. In the last episode he hired Ryo to work at his office and don't understand yet what the significance of the meeting was. After that brief appointment Konome met with the private investigator she had hired to tail Ryo and dig up info on his past.

That's him above and his name is Akutsu, he's dug up some key details about Ryo's past. He was once a member of a group that would swindle people out of their money or houses yet no charges could ever be filed against them. The second major detail is that Akutsu has said that Ryo Sato is not his real name, it's actually Sou Kubota but the investigator was only partially right with that discovery. For the rest of the recap the action will take place back at Nana's residence, the last episode ended off with her not wanting to eat Ryo's homemade dinner as she thought it was the dead person's body parts. Ryo insisted it wasn't and ordered Nana to accompany her to the shed behind her house where the body was hidden in a freezer, as mentioned it disappeared and suddenly reappeared.

But when they reached the shed Nana dashed in and quickly locked the door behind her. Nana has become more petrified of Ryo then ever or is he possibly some sort of ghost? Ryo banged furiously on the door to no avail as there's no way Nana would let him in, in disgust Ryo headed back to the house. While that was taking place Nana's mother had called their neighbor Kujaku and asked her to check on Nana, those two have a rocky history but don't know why. Kujaku is a novelist and she couldn't hear the commotion from the shed as she was blaring her music too loudly. But she's become quite friendly with Nana and was worried too about Ryo so sauntered over to the house.

Only person there was naturally Ryo as Nana was still hiding in the shed but she did find a cleaver which she may have to use on Ryo. He had a long talk with Kujaku and she's noticed some differences with his personality and memory. For instance Ryo served her coffee when he should have known well she can't sand the drink. Of course Ryo couldn't tell the neighbor where Nana was and kept saying she would be returning soon, Kujaku wasn't going to leave until she saw Nana save and sound. There's one major thing Kujaku brought up in her conversation with Ryo and it was about him fixing her computer, he said it was no problem and he was always willing to help but the problem was Kujaku didn't have a computer! That pushed Ryo into a corner and Kujaku demanded to know what's going on, as she says above is he a twin?

Final segment, an episode is only 23 minutes in length. Kujaku was spot on with her guess as Ryo admitted he did have a twin brother, he's the body in the freezer! Hearing this talk was Nana who was hidden around the corner outside. She burst in and demanded to know what's going on, is this another fabrication from Ryo(?) yet there is a double of him in the freezer. Here's the story he gave to Nana and Kujaku who was there the entire time but want to add in it's what Ryo is telling them and is it all the truth(?), I have my doubts on that. Ryo has admitted that he is a twin, his slightly older brother's name was Sou. For years the pair had been working with a group that would swindle whoever they could out of all of their money and possessions. Their latest scam had been to get close to single woman and try to con them out of their houses which was Ryo's intention when he 'accidentally' met Nana.

She fell for his act right off the bat, within a matter of weeks Ryo had moved in and the pair were to be married in March, it was September when they first met. But over time Ryo said he had truly fallen in love with Nana and wanted to call the scam off, his brother Sou wouldn't hear of it. So one day he had beaten up Ryo quite badly which sent him to the hospital, for a week he was in a coma. During that time Sou had taken his brother's place and that's when Nana began to be abused badly but of course thought it was Ryo. Eventually Ryo did recover and was released from the hospital but what could be do against his brother Sou who he claimed was much more evil? Ryo didn't know at first about Nana killing Sou and showed up at her house the following morning after it happened with all intentions of taking his brother's place, he soon had an inkling of what happened.

That ended his tale and while much of it was probably true was all of it? As the show came to it's conclusion Ryo was asking Nana if they could start all over as didn't she believe his story(?), no answer from her as the show ended. Not that much took place the first fifteen minutes, though it was still interesting, but there was so much intrigue during that final scene. That ends this recap, episode five is the next post and as usual plenty of screenshots to help you follow the story a bit better.
