"Watashi no Otto wa Reitouko ni Nemutte Iru" drama: Episode three recap

Air Dates: April 10th until May 15, 2021 Friday nights at midnight on TV-Tokyo
Title translates over to My Husband is sleeping in the Freezer.... Subs by Mikilove13

Main Cast: There shouldn't be many changes that need to be done as it's such a short series though perhaps Ryo may have a second name.

Yuika Motokariya as Nana Kisaragi.... Nana is mainly a stay at home worker for an online shop selling imported furniture and other items. But her quiet life is suddenly thrown into turmoil as one night she couldn't take the abusive ways of her future husband Ryo and killed him! But things become much more eerie as he somehow has come back to life though his dead body was still stored in a freezer.

Jin Shirasu as Ryo Sato.... Nana's ex-boyfriend and say ex for she killed him in the beginning of the first show! But he somehow came back to life the following day yet his dead body is still in the freezer Nana stored him in, how is that possible????

Yuki Saito as Kujaku.... Middle aged woman who is a mystery writer and lives across the street from Nana. She's also a very prying person who isn't married and claims to have never had a steady boyfriend though in the first show we did see a man come out of her house.

Miyoko Asada as Konome.... Nana's mother who is a psychiatrist and can't stand Ryo.

Sho Aoyagi as Kosuke Karasawa.... Local real estate agent who we met briefly in the second episode and he seems a bit suspicious to me. Even more so in this episode as he's suddenly gotten to know Ryo fairly well and even hired him to work at his office.

Hajime Okayama as Makoto Akutsu.... Private investigator hired by Nana's mother to dig up info/dirt on Ryo and he's discovered some interesting tidbits.

No need for an intro once again as the first two recaps are right above this and if you're reading this then you've probably read them, thanks if you have. In that previous post left out one incident that took place in the final thirty seconds, figured the whole scene would open this show which it did. That scene was of Ryo, in the top screenshot, trying to break down the door of Nana's backyard shed that she always keeps locked. Nana definitely needs to these days with the real(?) Ryo's body stuffed in a freezer inside the shed, does the alive Ryo have an inkling he may also be in that freezer? Does sound kind of odd saying that but we and Nana still have no clue how there's two, one dead and one alive. His pounding awakened Nana and Ryo was never able to enter the shed, least of now.

The following morning Ryo was up bright and early to continue his job search. This new version of Ryo hasn't been abusive and does seem to be a better person than his original version but is still kind of creepy. After his departure Nana rushed to the shed and to her relief the dead body of Ryo was still in the freezer. But she had an urgent appointment for her work so when Nana left she forgot to lock the shed. Nana's work involves selling furniture and such for an internet company but this is the first time we've seen her do anything about that gig. After she visited her mother Konome at her psychologist's office, the pair don't seem too close yet have seen each other every episode. During their chit chat the mother had an important visitor so she excused herself for a few moments. While that was going on Nana realized she had rushed out of the shed without locking it! To her there could be no bigger tragedy than Ryo entering it so she rushed back home to double check.

Nana was able to breath a bit easier as Ryo's body was still in the freezer but did someone enter the shed? Nana had put a blanket over the freezer which had a window so it would cover up the body. She also put a small rabbit statue on the blanket and had it's face turned towards the shed's window. But now the rabbit was facing the other way, now Nana has another enigma to ponder over. In two screenshots above is her mother talking with a private investigator named Hajime whose role may become a key one. The mother Konome had hired the man to tail Ryo and dig up whatever he could on him but there hasn't been much. For the most part Ryo had no history and it almost seemed he appeared out of nowhere. One key point Hajime learned is that Ryo's birthday did not fall on September 8th as he had told Nana when they first met, Hajime will be staying on the case and we'll see him again.

However in real life September 8th is Yuika's birthday. But that got me thinking and Hajime also had the same suspicions as me at the end of the show. Did Ryo plan their random meeting(?), it certainly seems so and if that was the case then why? Ryo has finally obtained a regular job and it's working at the real estate office run by Karasawa, we met him briefly in the last show and he seems like a seedy character. Another thing that left me wondering is that did Karasawa hire Ryo to get closer to Nana? I think so and in the last show he said he wanted to buy her house but think that was a ruse to enter it. After only one day of work Ryo has invited his new boss over and Nana was a bit miffed at that but Karasawa ended up staying. To Nana's horror the meal Ryo prepared looked exactly like the 'Ryo burgers' she made out of his body parts in the last recap. Whatever the meat was Karasawa gobbled it right up and thought it was delicious, of course Nana wouldn't have one bite.

After the dinner Nana did chase Karasawa down as he was walking towards the rail station. She wanted to ask him a few questions but just didn't know how to phrase them correctly so just told Karasawa she may need his help in the future. He does seem like a shady man but perhaps I'm not entirely correct with that observation. Before Nana could go back into her house she was intercepted by her neighbor Kujaku and think Nana was relieved by that. She went to Kujaku's house for some tea and for the second time in five minutes she wanted to ask for help with Ryo but Nana has no clue how to go about doing that. Which makes sense as how can Nana tell someone she killed Ryo, put his dead body in a freezer yet the man is still alive?!

Ryo knew where Nana had headed to so quickly came over to bring her back home, Nana seems more frightened of this Ryo than ever. Once again he tried to get Nana to eat his dinner which she still thought were body parts of Ryo. He thought Nana was thinking that so Ryo grabbed a hunk and devoured it to Nana's shock, she's more confused than ever. In the final scene Hajime has had a buddy on the police force check out some things about Ryo, Hajime used to be a detective but just got so tired of the daily rut. What was discovered is that Ryo is an alias, his real name may be Kubota who appears to have been a part of a criminal ring. In the final five seconds of the episode we saw the inside of Nana's shed, however in the freezer the dead body of Ryo was no longer there!!!!

This show ended off with some potential intense and interesting storylines for the final three episodes. Not going to give any kind of rating for this series yet, it's been solid so far and does have the potential to end off on a really high note. Hopefully it does but even if Ryo is not his real name how was there still a dead and alive one? Glad I waited a few extra days before publishing these posts so it won't be a long gap until the second and final batch of three recaps which should be in seventeen days.
