"Pâtissier-san to Ojousan" drama, episode four(final) recap

Air Dates: January 21st until February 11, 2022 on TVK   Friday nights at 11:00 pm
Subs were done by Irozuku Subs, 24 minutes an episode

Main Cast: Being a mini drama it's a very small cast but there are two others who will be added in when they're introduced, most all of action takes place at the Patisserie Cheval pastry shop.

Tsubasa Sakiyama as Jouji Okuno.... Works at the pastry shop and his age is somewhere between 25-29. Appears to be currently living with the owner who has an apartment above the shop and Jouji has fallen head over heels for Fumiko but has no clue how to tell her his feelings. By the end of the second show neither still knows the other's name.

Natsumi Okamoto as Fumiko Haru.... About 24 in age and works as an OL. She only visits the pastry shop on Fridays at around 6:00 pm after her work week is done. Fumiko is a very quiet yet cute woman who loves pastries and keeps hoping Jouji will strike up a conversation.

Ryota Murai as Ryo Tatewaki.... Owner of the pastry shop who is around thirty in age. Ryo lives in an apartment upstairs from the shop and is trying to coach Jouji how to ask Fumiko out which has been a failure.

Yurano Ochi as Aki Misaka.... Fumiko's friend at the office and what an airhead she can be but also is the most enjoyable and funniest character.

Though a short drama at four episodes and 96 minutes the time span was rather long. The show began off in July, then our 'innocent couple' celebrated Halloween and Christmas somewhat together, the date at the beginning of this final episode was January 3rd. The top screenshot is how the previous show ended with Jouji telling his crush Fumiko that he only made special treats for her which greatly pleased Fumiko. She didn't tell Jouji that and when he reached for her arm Fumiko jumped on the arriving bus as she once again panicked and has been beating herself up ever since. So hasn't Jouji and he's wondering did he come on too strong to his dream girl? Fumiko had been coming into the Patissier Cheval shop since July but after all this time the two still don't know each other's names!

So it's January 3rd and the shop was packed most of the day with people getting New Year's treats but wouldn't they have come in two days earlier? To Jouji it doesn't matter how many customers come each day as long as one of them is Fumiko and as you can see above she did make an appearance. Fumiko wanted a special treat for her family which consists of her mother and brother, that yummy creation in the second to last screenshot is what she purchased. Have to say the pastries we've seen in this show all look overly delicious but have also noticed how expensive they are too, that could be another reason why Fumiko only visits the pastry shop on Fridays. During this short encounter Jouji made one huge blooper and his boss Ryo listening from around the corner couldn't believe what was said!

As mentioned in the previous episode Jouji had told Fumiko he only made special treats for her which was true. But during this visit Jouji took back what he said which baffled Ryo, for some reason he told Fumiko that he's made treats for other customers too and you could see how sad that made her. Think Jouji was still feeling uncomfortable about that night and he has zero confidence in himself. Jouji told his boss that he'd rather have a Patissier- Customer relationship with Fumiko than to never see her again which looked like it may happen. That's because for the next six weeks Fumiko didn't stop in as she usually did on Fridays for a special pastry, was it because of what Jouji had said?

Six weeks after January 3rd means it's Valentine's Day, the weather outside has looked the same whether it's been Winter or Summer! Jouji had made another special treat for Fumiko but it was closing time and she still hadn't arrived. But as he went to lock the shop's door Jouji noticed a trembling Fumiko waiting outside to talk with him. Trembling because it was cold but also because she was a bit frightened even though Fumiko had a pep talk earlier in the day with her friend Aki who is right above. Jouji rushed Fumiko into the shop and made her a cup of hot chocolate to warm her up which it did. Think Fumiko was hoping this scene would happen for she had her own special gift for Jouji.

You can see Fumiko's special treat in the middle screenshot. She's no pastry chef and have the impression it took her many, many hours to make those delicious looking treats. Of course Jouji was overjoyed and as usual was a bit tongue tied at what to say. No need to as Fumiko said the words Jouji wanted to hear which is that he's her special Patissier and she wants to continue to visit him every week for her rewarding cakes. With that this mini series came to it's end and wouldn't you know..... by the end of the series neither still knew the other's name!!!!

Short dramas like this one I usually don't give a rating to so won't this time but it was a pleasant time killer, at 96 minutes you're not giving up too much of your life. This series is a lead-in to the a movie of the same name which comes out on May 6th. Been wanting to have a post or two for Natsumi so let me see if I can't get something together for when the movie comes out. In other drama news next week will have the final two recaps for the superb "Mystery to Iunakare" show which ended it's run last week. Then about two weeks after that will have the last three recaps for the "Hiru" drama. But I'm wondering what's going on with the subs for season three of 'Kimi to Sekai'? It's a six episode series and four shows have aired but the subber hasn't done any of the shows yet and no news from him either.
