Keyakizaka46: "Zankoku na Kankyakutachi" drama episode nine recap

Start Date: May 17, 2017 on NTV, airs Thursdays at 1:00 am for ten episodes

Through every episode the only characters have been the 21 Keya members in the show. All will probably have an important moment at least once in this ten episode drama so will list all of the members who are starring in the series. These screenshots list all of the characters along with their student number, these are from the final credits while Keya's tune "Eccentric" was playing.

Thought that may make it easier for you to keep track off, can always change it in future posts such as have all 21 names written in order and may do something special at the show's conclusion.
No cliffhanger to end off the previous show where the finale was #14 Miko(Neru) and #17 Yuzuki(Yurina) embracing in the school's pool. Miko had pulled a bit of a trick to see if Yuziki still had intense feelings for her and by diving in to save her which didn't need to be done she proved that she did.
Think this is the third night the students have been trapped in the school, it started out with 21 of them and along the way three have disappeared. Now the total is down to ten as the eighteen have split up, eight went to the art room at the beginning of the seventh episode and since then we haven't seen or heard a trace of them. As of now the girls are quite confused on what to do next, their teacher has gone missing from the gym plus there's no like challenge hanging over them.

Will say that the suspense level really dropped in the final three episodes, trying to make this appear interesting but it's not an easy thing to do. The students need to escape from the pool area and perhaps the school though they've been sitting around doing zilch. Student #13 Fuuka(Nanako) came up with a thought as she opened the storage closet and perhaps if they cleared all of the supplies out it could be an escape route.
That's what they did and for some reason it wasn't an enclosed room but had a secret passage. #21 Ayano(Risa) was chosen to go first which she reluctantly did with the other nine girls following her. Though they were on the third floor the exit from the passageway had brought them to the second floor even though we didn't see them take any stairs.

The herd start roaming the hallways and to their surprise down one of them stood the figure of #8 Hana(Fuyuka). She was one of the eight students who had gone to the art room, what's hard to believe is that none of them asked Hana what happened with the other girls. Also seems like her and Miko have some sort of secret between them as this meeting seemed to be somewhat planned(?), the confusion level really increases these last two episodes.
Hana with Miko brings the nine gals to the teachers's room which is also empty. That's another question, why haven't we seen one other student or teacher this whole time? As they entered the room once again a door mysteriously closes behind them and locks. They were expected as there's a laptop and camera set up in the room, the challenges are getting much more difficult as the amount of likes they need to be released is up to 50,000.

During these last two shows we see much more of the audience who has been following them since this 'game' first began. There's Miwa who is a housewife and has a six year old son Ken who also may be following their adventure. There's also a couple who are dating, Keiko and Yuuta and both are students. Another follower is Sugimura who is a director of a company, Madoka who is a secretary, a pair of teenage twins and a few other oddball types.
It was okay learning about them but they didn't add anything to the story as none of them seem to be connected to the girls. So now the challenge is to accumulate 50,000 likes and most of the girls are now so tired of this game. None of them are inspired and are just lazing about the room, it's been a long time since they've had a bite to eat and all are extremely bushed.

One student does get slightly inspired to attain the likes to leave the room and that was Yuzuki. For her stunt she tried an imitation of Ichiro which to me kind of bombed. But after so many hours of of watching the girls do nothing the audience seemed to enjoy her attempt to pass and for some reason she easily surpassed the 50,000 likes that she needed.
Yuzuki was a bit stunned that she was able to obtain the likes she needed but she wasn't jumping up and down with joy. Have a feeling she doesn't want to leave and roam the hallways by herself, though not an overly friendly person she does need to be surrounded by people. How the other girls did in their quest to get 50,000 likes is unknown as the episode ended on that note.

Finally is a good word, not that this has been a bad series but definitely a notch below the 'Tokuyama' drama which was such an enjoyable watch. Following this post is the recap for the tenth and final episode. Would recommend having some aspirin handy or at least a bottle(s) of some spirits as the ending is quite confusing and will for sure give you a headache at the minimum.

Keyakizaka46: "Zankoku na Kankyakutachi" drama episode ten recap

All will probably have an important moment at least once in this ten episode drama so will list all of the members who are starring in the series.  Thought that may make it easier for you to keep track off, can always change it in future posts such as have all 21 names written in order and may do something special at the show's conclusion.
Let's see if we can't make sense of this episode, on second the ending made very little sense to me and it appears almost any viewer who watched it. The semi cliffhanger was that #17 Yuzuki(Yurina) attained 50,000 likes which means she'll be allowed to leave the teacher's room, so far she's been the only to hit that figure but then again she's the only one who made an attempt.

But why leave the room as Yuzuki has nowhere to go plus if she departs she'll be all by herself, don't think she wants to leave the comfort of her best friend #14 Miko(Nueru). The other ten students come to life and know they must get 50,000 likes to also be able to leave the room. The total number is now eleven in the group as last episode the ten girls had run into #8 Hana(Fuyuka). She had gone with another pack of gals to find an escape route, what's happened to them is a mystery and seems none of the girls care about their fate.
On to some activities to amuse the viewers enough to reach 50,000 likes, in the beginning they only needed to hit the 10,000 mark to leave a room. These attempts were utter failures as the students tried a variety of witty comments and the 'cruel audience' didn't enjoy any of them. Can't blame the audience for not enjoying their skits as most were quite horrible and unoriginal, none of the girls came close to hitting the magic number of 50,000.

Never say die is their motto, it had better be for if they stop trying death may be what's awaiting them. On to another round of skits to entertain the audience and this time the girls tried some impersonations of some celebrities, like the first round it was a massive failure as none of them is enough close to 50,000 likes.
Someone had a bright idea and that was #21 Ayano(Risa) who actually has had a few other good ideas throughout the series. The door had been unlocked once Yuzuki obtained her 50,000 likes, it's still unlocked so why not just leave? Most of the girls agreed though a few were a bit leery leaving the room as doing it illegally might seal their doom. The majority rules though so the eleven students once again start roaming the halls looking for anyone else or to possibly escape from the school.

Least #6 Nao(Minami) had a few more lines in the last few episodes, wonder if she requested that character name for a reason? The students begin checking everywhere for a sign of life but can find nothing, it's the last we see of them except for the pair of Miko and Yuzuki who head back to the pool. There they make a bit of small talk but the conversation didn't go on for too long, Miko closed her eyes for a few seconds and when she opened them Yuzuki had disappeared.
This is where it gets extremely confusing and there are only about two minutes to go in the show. Miko heads back to their classroom, not sure who she was hoping to find but when she opened the door to the room she was told to shut it by a class of twelve students. Not just any students as the twelve in the room were the Keya's Hiragana members. This raises so many questions and possible scenarios as when this class had ended the students discovered a laptop and camera in the room!!!!

Don't know where to start as to what the conclusion of the show was really about. I have a bunch of theories and quite a few others have their own ideas what it meant at the end, some of us could be right and then again perhaps we're all wrong.
I kind of liken it to the "Shibuya 15" drama where at the end we learn Ema, who was in a coma, was able to create a virtual world with the help of her doctor. Could this be a virtual world too which Miko had created? Or it's also possible that this event with the Hiragana members is real and the other students were able to escape.
Then again maybe all of the other students were killed and this is Miko's way to atone for not being able to save them. One other thought was that this was set in the future, could she be in a time warp and has to relive that day over and over again until she gets it right? The ending was kind of a disappointment then as it left the vast majority of us shaking their heads in disbelief, maybe it's going to continued in a second season though probably not if the Kanji members have been killed. When you look up the word confused in a dictionary you'll no doubt see the title of this show....

Definitely a very perplexing conclusion which didn't pan out too well. It may have worked if that final scene started with about five minutes to go in the show so we could have figured out what was going on and had some of our questions answered.
This was a so-so series, preferred the 'Tokuyama' drama so much more and think I gave that show close to a 9/10 or perhaps that's the exact rating. Will give this one a 7.5/10, had such potential to be an exciting watch but ended up being a bit boring and confusing at the end. Of course if you're a Keya fan you'll want to watch it, it wasn't a bad series but could have been much better.
Not going to watch 'Tofu Wrestling' so guess this gets me up to date with Idol dramas. This may have been the worst one I've seen but won't call it a bad show, Idol dramas are generally enjoyable watches. To date will have to say my fave Idol drama has been "Suugaku Joshi Gakuen" which was a H!P show that aired in 2012.
