C-ute may be far from being the best selling J-Pop group but they could be the most consistent. First week sales for singles 22-30 never dipped below 55,000 copies sold in it's first week. Then again the most they've ever sold in a week is 69,900, the new single has a chance to top that record.
It's a triple A-side single, whatever that's supposed to mean, with the titles being "To Tomorrow/Final Squall/The Curtain Rises". According to Oricon it sold 54,700 copies in it's first day out ranking #2 on the daily chart. Day two it dropped to the fifth position, they only list sales for the top three on the daily chart. The third spot sold 5,500 copies so a reasonable estimate would be 4,500 sold bringing the total to over 59,000, think selling 11,000 more to set a record can easily be done.
The group has been doing quite a few mini events for the single, have many pics below of one of them. Tomorrow Airi's final photobook as a C-ute member will be released, hopefully she'll be having an event for it and also am hoping that there will be more books after their disbandment. Group posts don't usually attract many views but individual posts do. Last month did a pairs post featuring Maimi and Saki which was very popular....
.... and will have another one coming up soon, obvious choice is this duo.
In case you missed them here's two C-ute calendars for April, Airi's b-day is in the 12th.
C-ute has done at least five mini events since March 20th promoting the single, call them mini as they perform 5-6 songs. They naturally do the tunes from the new single but also have been throwing in a few oldies such as "Dance de Bakon!" along with a few other current singles. The official release party was held at Club Citta on March 29th.
Pics here are from a Tower Records event last week, they look the same at all of the events so the dates for these events don't really matter. The group is also starting a tour next month called
'C-elebration' plus some shows titled 'Naruchoka' which are held at smaller clubs, those performances seem to be more enjoyable. After these pics highly recommend watching a video of the event as the gals actually sing live which not enough J-Pop groups do, least the most popular ones and they sing without the backing track of instruments.
