"Kimi to Sekai ga Owaru Hi ni" drama: Season two, episode two recap

Air Dates: March 21st until April 25, 2021 on Hulu-TV, Sundays at midnight
First season had ten episodes, this one has six and subs were once again dome by Manxcat

Ratings: Unknown as this season airs on Hulu-TV which is a cable network.
First season had an average of 7.7%, final show was the highest at 8.4%.

Main Cast: Will have two sections, this first one are the returning characters from season one. The first season's action began at the end of September 2019 and ended right around December 7th though the weather is still mild. Season two started off three weeks after the conclusion of season one so it's about to become 2020. The setting is still the island of Saruno in Miura Bay though it appears that may soon change to a house in Chiba which is kind of far away, will discuss that in the recaps.

Ryoma Takeuchi as Hibikia Mamiya.... Main star of the drama who is 25 in age and was an auto mechanic until the Golem Virus plagued the city of Miura. He's the unofficial leader of the group which at one time totaled ten but was whittled down to five but they've added a few more survivors. Hibiki is the boyfriend of Kurumi and had all intentions of proposing until the virus hit. He was a mellow man but has changed his ways and has become a ruthless killer but only to defend his group.

Ayami Nakajo as Kurumi Ogasawara.... Also 25 like her boyfriend and had been a second year intern at the Miura hospital. She had been saved by the special Defense Forces and ended up working with the crazed doctor Shuto to develop a vaccine for the virus. However Kurumi was used badly and it appears she may slowly be turning into a Golem, that's a Zombie like creature.

Marie Iitoyo as Kanae Hiiragi.... Third year college student who is 22 in age and was trapped in an elevator with four other survivors when the virus struck which saved them. Kanae was such a quiet introvert when the series began but has also changed her ways and with Hibiki defends the group as she's now an expert at archery. She has such a crush on Hibiki and acts quite cold towards Kurumi who she may want to see dead!

Sho Kasamatsu as Hiro Todoroki.... He's also 25 in age and had gone to school with Hibiki and Kurumi who he openly loves. Todoroki was a detective and his partner was killed in season one's second episode. He's kind of a hothead and though a member of the group isn't all that trustworthy and really despises Hibiki.

Sports Makita as Yohei Komoto.... Owned a moving company and had been stuck in the elevator with his worker Min-Jun and three others still living. He's an older man who doesn't do all that much for the group but has at times pitched in to help.

Tamae Ando as Shoko Mihara.... Middle aged woman who is the mother of the below girl, she's presently not on the island with the group but at the 'House of Hope' in Chiba.

Naho Yokomizu as Yuzuki Mihara.... Shoko's twelve year old daughter who has asthma.

Hyunri as Yoon Jian.... She's a Korean doctor who came to Japan to help Shuto create a vaccine for the virus but unknown to her it wasn't a vaccine. Her brother was also in Japan but had been killed at the end of episode seven by a Golem bite, Jian is now part of Hibiki's group.

Toshihito Kokubo as Tsuboi.... Leader of the Swords group who are a rival of Hibiki's. The two have never seen eye to eye but on occasion have worked together when both groups are in danger. The Swords are also on Saruno island but tensions are running high between the groups.

Kodai Asaka as Rikuto Kuwato.... Former Defense Forces corporal who defected to Hibiki's group in episode nine when Shuto became too crazed, he's a man you want on your side in a battle.

Shohei Uno as Doctor Omaezaki.... Once worked on Shuto's team but when he realized the doctor wasn't working on a vaccine he fled the Camp Yokosuka base. First he went to the Swords group but eventually switched over to help Hibiki and his mates.

Kenishi Takito as Koki Shuto... Though he died in the final episode of season one added him in as he played such an important part to the story. Shuto had been trying to find a potion to cure his dead wife(!) but that got out of control, those experiments eventually became the Golem virus.

Whew, that above took a while to write up! These are the new characters introduced in the second season who are living at the 'House of Hope' safe shelter in Chiba. Will be updating the bios as we just met them at the end of this first episode.

Mari Hamada as Misako Akiyoshi.... Leader/owner of the shelter which at one time was a resort. She's the mother of Ren and really cares about the survivors at the house.

Kanata Hongo as Ren Akiyoshi.... Misako's son and had been the managing director of the resort. Bit of a quiet young man who brought Kurumi and Hibiki to the safe house.

Hisashi Yoshizawa as Shohei Noro.... First person to meet Hibiki's group as he had traveled to Saruno island but was sent away almost immediately. They met up again in episode two and are getting along much better, Noro has become the 'middle man' between the groups.

Mantaro Koichi as Takuro Mamiya.... Hibiki's father who had deserted his son when he was fifteen, we didn't meet him in the first show. We did in this one as Mamiya is also a survivor at the 'House of Hope' but he's suffering from severe chest pains.

Links to the recaps to season one's final two shows if you want to see what took place before this season and quite a bit did:   Episode nine .... Episode ten

Glad I only have to write the above once, whew again! However like the first season will be adding in one more section and that will be for those that are now deceased. Will start that for the next recap as to my surprise two survivors were slain this episode, one was totally unexpected. The subs for the first season were done quickly and the episodes were also easily available. That's not the case for this season as the fourth show will be airing tomorrow and don't have the third episode yet, obviously I began this post a while ago.

So for now the plan will be to have a pair of batches containing three recaps, this second season just has six shows. Kind of a slowish show for the first 15-20 minutes but then the intensity really picked up. We learned much about the House of Hope in this episode so will be talking about that shelter and introducing some of their survivors. It'll be changing in the next episode but the two groups were separated in this show with Hibiki and Kurumi being at the shelter. Meanwhile the other ten or so survivors were still on Saruno island and the situation there has become unbearable as their food supply is almost gone plus the Swords leader Tsuboi trusts no person from Hibiki's group.

Will begin off with the happenings at the House of Hope as that's where most of the action took place. Then will check in during the middle part with the Saruno island survivors and then end up with more from the HOH, would using those initials make it easier? As the first episode came to it's conclusion Hibiki and Kurumi had arrived at the shelter which is located along the ocean in Chiba, that top screenshot is the shelter. The pair needed to flee Saruno island as Kurumi is infected with the Golem virus and the Sword's leader Tsuboi would have eventually killed her. But upon arriving in Chiba the two were attacked by a huge army of Golems. Hibiki fought them off while Kurumi was hidden away but she soon fled the safe spot looking for him.

Kurumi's condition is up and down due to the virus but unlike others hasn't turned into a Golem. She had struggled searching the woods for Hibiki and was soon found by a young man named Ren. Shortly arriving on the scene too was Hibiki though covered in blood, needless to say he looked mighty suspicious and dangerous. Hibiki was quickly subdued by two others and the pair were brought to the shelter. The House of Hope is run my a middle aged woman named Misako, the shelter was going to be a resort but hadn't been finished when the virus hit. It appears the Golem virus is now a nationwide epidemic and it surprises me there hasn't been any action by the government or armed forces.

At first Hibiki was not trusted by the shelter residents who are a wealthy bunch of people that were going to join the resort when it was completed. They've been sheltered to say the least as none has ever seen a Golem so obviously they've never fought any and really don't know enough about them. But for now Hibiki has been accepted to a slight extent thanks to a 'middle man' named Noro. We met him in the previous episode when he traveled to Saruno island to try to convince the survivors to come to Chiba and he flopped badly. The residents at the House of Hope are living quite highly, the food they have could come from a five star restaurant but how long will that last?

That older man at the top, of all people he's Hibiki's father who he hasn't seen in ten years! Their reunion did not go well, the father Mamiya couldn't give a solid reason for his disappearance and we had the impression Hibiki wished he had never met his father again. Mamiya isn't a true doctor but was  a pharmacist and is really the only medical person at the shelter. The other potential doctor could be Kurumi but guess what's happened to her? Somehow within the last ten or so hours she's developed a case of amnesia, she can't remember one thing about her past! Not even who her boyfriend Hibiki is though she knows everything else such as how to talk and other regular things. No one is positive how she got it but odds are good the Golem virus is the main reason.

This second segment will be about the group of ten or so on Saruno island, then will end off with the House of Hope group which was an intense ending. The tension on the island has become unbearable, few factors in that with the main reason being Tsuboi who is the leader of the dwindling Swords group. That's him in the middle screenshot and he's the person with a firearm, he won't think twice about using it as we'll soon see. Another major problem is that their food supply is almost completely gone, there's nothing left in the city of Miura and no other supplies either. So now the question is should the group travel to the House of Hope and join their friends? Besides Hibiki and Kurumi the woman Shoko had gone there with her young daughter at the end of the first season.

Tsuboi though doesn't trust one person these days, his only ally was his Swords mate Haru who died in the last episode. His plan is to raid the shelter in Chiba and take all of their supplies which most of the other survivors disagreed with. However Tsuboi has a loaded pistol so for now they're semi going along with the plan. The older researcher Omaezaki though did argue back to Tsuboi about that plan, with so few survivors in Japan shouldn't they join forces with them? There's no reasoning with Tsuboi and as you can see above what happens when you do, he didn't think twice about his actions as Tsuboi shot Omaezaki in front of all the others!!!! That surprised me and it wasn't the wisest of decisions as the man knows more about Golems than anyone else.

After that tragic incident the others know they have to somehow eliminate Tsuboi who is becoming more than crazed but what can they do? Tsuboi's plan is for him along with 2-3 other group members to travel to Chiba the following day, what he wants to do is snatch all of their supplies and if need be kill whoever resists! The former detective Todoroki has volunteered to head with Tsuboi to the House of Hope which didn't please any of the survivors. Especially Kanae who will probably end up going too as she's become such an ace archer and they'll need her to take out a few survivors at the shelter but would she? However Todoroki has a counterplan which he secretly told the soldier Kuwato, no exact plan on what he will do but once at the shelter he plans on killing Tsuboi! Hopefully that'll work out and would think the next show will begin with the small group taking their boat to Chiba.

We didn't see enough of the Saruno island group, shame as their story was a bit more intense. There's more survivors than I mentioned and we'll be seeing more of them starting with the next episode as I would think most of the action will be taking place at the House of Hope. However there will be one less person and I'm a bit shocked she was written out of the story so quickly. That's the woman in the second to last screenshot, she's the shelter's leader Misako and she was attacked by a Golem on the resort's grounds. Supposedly this was such a safe location as walls and other obstacles had been set up to keep the creatures out but seems they came in through the unprotected forest. We'll learn a bit more in the next recap about where these Golems may be coming from.

With some help Misako was able to beat off the Golem but not before she was bitten, quickly she was brought back to the House of Hope. Every victim reacts a bit differently after they're bitten, all will turn into a Golem but for some it could take days while others within an hour. That was the case with Misako who before the shelter's residents turned into a Golem, they were totally unprepared on what to do. Not Hibiki and though he hated to do it he knew what needed to be done as he stabbed Misako in the head which is the best place to stab a Golem, soon after she passed away. These 'elite residents' were overcome with fury at what Hibiki did, what a barbarian! Luckily for him Misako's son Ren and the shelter's liaison Noro were able to diffuse the situation before it became a lynching, they knew Hibiki had no choice but to kill the woman and in doing so may have saved many lives.

For now things became a bit calmer but the tensions became much more strained in the next episode. Coming close to the end and perhaps a decision of Hibiki's will help soothe the tensions. His father has told him there's a good chance a true vaccine to cure Kurumi is at a lab in Fukushima. Her condition has been up and down, who knows when it may just stay down? So to end the show off Hibiki has told Kurumi of his plans to get the vaccine which will also hopefully cure her amnesia, she still remembers zero about her past but does she really? That'll come out in the next show and as this one ended Hibiki was on his way to Fukushima, by foot or boat(?) as we never see the survivors travel.

Halfway through that final segment took a break and viewed the third show which to me has been the best of this second season. Looks like there will be a trio of recaps today, though I wrote this up on the 14th it may not be published for 3-4 days. As usual plenty of screenshots here at the end and hopefully many view them as they do help you understand the story so much better.
