"Bokura ga Koroshita, Saiai no Kimi" drama: episode six(final) recap

Air Dates: September 17 to October 8, 2021 on TELASA, Friday's at 8:00 pm
Six episodes in all, 22 minutes a show.... Subs were done by Donsubs

Main Cast: The setting is an unknown three story building in Tokyo, the seven characters have met for their 10th middle school reunion so their ages are about 22. Slowly the characters are being killed off and there's no escape from the building as the doors are barricaded plus there's no phone/computer access.

Fumiya Takahashi as Rei Kobayashi.... Seemed to be one of the more popular kids back in school but like the others has some disturbing secrets.

Jin Suzuki as Hajime Ozaki.... Was Rei's best friend until they were twelve as his family moved away at the time and was responsible for Rei's 'injury'.

Hiroe Igeta as Rina Yoshimura.... Rei's current girlfriend but growing up had a secret crush on Hajime which was revealed and has made Rei slightly jealous.

Yuno Ohara as Asuka Honda... The 'ugly duckling' back in school but has blossomed into an alluring woman who has a crush on Rei. She's not the innocent girl all had known as Asuka is quite a vamp and so conniving.

Jiei Wakabayashi as Hiroto Wakaba.... Bit of a hothead who didn't know the other students at the reunion all that well.

Tsuyoshi Furukawa as Yuma Kamei.... Like Hiroto didn't know the others that well, an extremely quiet man but by choice. Was murdered at the end of the third episode.

Ryubi Miyase as Kaoru Nakamura.... Organized the reunion and was such a creepy man. Say was for at the end of the first episode he died in an electrocution accident.... or was it?

 Previous recaps

Most of these suspense/mystery dramas I've viewed have been solid watches but only up to the final episode. Too often the ending is a tad too wimpy and and they often end on a too happy note though on occasion it may work. That wasn't the case for this mini series as this last episode was the most intense and action packed show of the six, was way off base with my prediction on who the killer was. The previous show ended with Rei and Hajime in the building's cellar, Rei discovered the last mini black book to read for the 'Murder Mystery Game' that was written by Kaoru.

The game never officially began as Kaoru had been electrocuted at the end of the first episode. It was up in the air whether it was an accident or murder, we learned it was the latter. In the book Kaoru wrote not to read it until the game was finished but of course he wasn't expecting to die. So before Hajime knew Rei found the book he began to read it, the reunion was originally set up by Kaoru to get back at his classmates who ignored him. But why just these six invitees and how was Kaoru going to take revenge on them? That we'll never know but there was much more than that in the little black book as Kaoru had written down Hajime's history for the past ten years. When he was twelve Hajime had accidentally killed his senior in their Archery club class, the other students backed him saying it was an accident but now it appears that may not have been the case.

After that Hajime's parents had sent him away and he changed his name, to what we never learned. But that killing at the age of twelve was just the start for Hajime who quickly added to to his resume' as he killed that senior's girlfriend plus a journalist. Both weren't satisfied that it was an accident and were digging deeper into the story, Hajime murdered them before they dug too deep! So by the time he was thirteen Hajime had killed three people and also had the strong impression it may have been more over the years. That total of three was increased to five as Hajime has confessed to Rei as it was him who slew Kaoru plus Yuma as he too was getting too close to exposing Hajime's dirty secrets. Though friends Rei was stunned at what he read and of Hajime's confession, he had a knife but Rei was able to lock him in a tiny room until he could decide what to do. But at that moment around the corner came Asuka and Hiroto, what a mistake was about to happen.

Ever since that tryst with Asuka Hiroto has been thinking he's a Superman, he laughed at Rei for locking Hajime in the room and told him watch what a real man does! What a boner of a move as the second Hiroto opened the door Hajime thrust his knife into Hiroto's stomach, he was presumed dead but not quite yet. Rei and Asuka quickly fled the scene but in opposite directions, Hajime was on the prowl and you can see above what a demented man he's become. Rei was able to make it back safely to the building's man room where his girlfriend Rina was, they immediately hid in a storeroom but Hajime found their location quite quickly but the pair were able to flee. However they were no longer Hajime's main target as he heard a noise from the hallway, his sixth victim is about to meet their end.

That could be the conniving and devilish Asuka who had been trying to find a safe place, there never is one with a deranged killer on the hunt! He found Asuka near Hiroto's body, when Hajime was about to make her victim #6 Hiroto turned out to still be alive and held his leg allowing her to escape, with a few more stabs Hajime made sure Hiroto was dead this time. And it didn't take long for Hajime to track down Asuka making her the fourth person to be killed at the reunion, now it's at least seven that Hajime has killed overall. Two more are left and Rei wasn't going to sit around waiting to be killed as he met up with Hajime in the main gathering room, he left Rina hidden away and her role ended up not being that important in this final show. Hajime really doesn't want to kill his only true friend Rei, he had plenty of chances when they were talking but just couldn't see harming his mate. On the other hand Rei did want to hurt his friend, didn't seem that way at first but the pair soon found themselves in a hallway.

Like most off the wall Hajime began to ramble on how he was misunderstood and even though he's murdered at least seven people he's no killer! Rei told his friend he could understand where Hajime was coming from, he hugged his friend in a sign of compassion but it ended up being anything but that. The pair were near the stairwell, once Rei had Hajime turned around he shoved his ex-friend down the stairs and there was no chance for Hajime to stop falling, you can see the result above. It was an act Rei didn't want to have to do but it needed to be done, who knew when Hajime would have turned that knife on him and then Rina, Rei later told her it was an accidental falling.

In the final two minutes the pair were able to get to the building's roof which had been blocked off by boxes and chairs, why didn't the group do that earlier? Rina was quite curious about what Rei's dark secret was but he avoided answering it though he knew everyone else's. When a person was killed he grabbed their little back book and read that secret, Rei ended up burning his own book so no one would find out. At the end of the show Rei also had a small smirk on his face, could he have helped Hajime out with the prior killings? Here's the secrets Kaoru wrote in those book but how did he find out all of this info?

Hajime- Was a killer who had murdered at least three people before this reunion.
Rina- Her first crush was Hajime and she still had feelings for him.
Asuka- Had seduced her high school teacher and got pregnant from that affair.
Hiroto- Was a virgin but thanks to Asuka didn't die one.
Yuma- Was a drug dealer.

That concludes this recap and series which turned out to be a decent show. Coming into this final episode would have given it a rating of 8 which is solid but this last show bumped it up to a 8.4/10, will recommend this show if you enjoy suspenseful dramas. Lot of current shows I'm interested in are being subbed or are about to so after a three week break from them have plenty of dramas to view.

  1. I still couldn't draw the conclusion...
Was Rei actually a serial killer or something??
    What's his secret??
If his secret was so important to him, does that mean he's the one who killed the only person who new it??

Sincerely enjoyed the show... But the conclusion is too vague even for a mystery crime drama.
I hope they showed more bits and pieces of Rei's past or secret to easily digest the ending.

  2. Been a while since I viewed this drama so have forgotten many things. Don't think Rei was a serial killer but he probably did commit a murder in the past or least had a hand in a killing, that's what his secret probably was. Wish his secret was revealed, maybe not to the others in the show but least to us viewers as it may have explained many unknown things about him.

  3. The ending was confusing. I thought the reveal was that Rei killed Kaoru and Yuma and the flashback of what happened on the stairs was showing Rei tried to kill Hajime as kids but he fell instead and it seemed pretty clear Hajime was in love with Rei. It seemed to me like he snapped and killed his parents, the journalist and the GF because he was tormented by the media and everyone distrusted him and then when Rei accused him, because he liked him, it made him snap and then he killed Hiroto and Asuka. That's my best guess because the reveal for Rei doesn't really make sense if he isn't a killer too and it would explain him putting the knife and stuff from the victims on Hajime at the end to make him take the fall for everything.
