Yuki Yoda: "Ryosangata Riko: Puramo Joshi no Jinsei Kumitate Ki" drama, episode nine recap

Air Dates: June 30th until September 2, 2022... Thursday nights at 12:30 am on TV-Tokyo
Episodes are 24 minutes in length, subs are being done by Masssterchief

Main Cast: Most of the action takes place at the very busy Fun Fun Create company which specializes in planning and holding events. Wrote this up after viewing the first episode so a bit of tweaking will be done as we go on. There's three divisions at the company, #'s one and two are so busy they need more than 24 hours in a day! But our 'heroine' Riko works in the third division with four others and they are far from busy as their main tasks are mailing out flyers and such. In the first show a rumor had even started that the third division could be disbanded, will that eventually happen? No is the answer to that and as the series has gone on that unit is becoming a slightly important one.

Yuki Yoda as Riko Komukai.... Had acquired the nickname of 'Mass Production Girl' as she just liked mainstream and safe things/activities. But one night in the first episode after work she passed by the Yasan Hobby Shop which she had never noticed before. Deep down Riko does like models and such, she had never made any though until entering this shop and then the rest is history....

Karen Fujii as Kyoko Nakano.... Female employee in the third division, she seems to be talented so how did she end up there? Kyoko gets along with Riko so well but has noticed her friend can be way too boring and needs a jolt to her life.

Oshiro Maeda as Yuki Asai.... Started at the company with Riko but while she's still stuck at the bottom Asai has moved up to the first division. Seems as though he's doing well but in reality think he's not doing that that good of a job... he's a bit stuck up too.

Ayumu Mochizuki as Ryota Oishi.... Ace of the first division unit. He's one of Riko's biggest backers and am wondering if it's because he has a crush on her? The answer to that is yes but both are too shy to tell their true feelings to the other.

Ayumu Mochizuki as Shinji Takaji.... We met him in the second episode when he was transferred from the first to the third division. He knows almost everything about the company but his problem is Shinji doesn't like to do any 'real work'. That changed in the third show and of course it was because Shinji build his first model!

Magy as Teru Inuzuka.... Leader of the third division, very laid back man which isn't a positive at the Fun Fun Create company.

Yoshiaki Yoza as Atsushi Saruwatari.... Another third division employee who at one time was in the first division but asked for a transfer, why?

Yoshiyuki Morishita as Hitoshi Kijimura.... Oldest third division employee who like the others was so worried they'll be laid off. In the fourth show there was an offer to retire early and Kijimura did begin to fill out the forms until he had a change of heart.

Yoji Tanaka as Ichi Yajima.... Owner of the Yasan Hobby Shop where Riko visited in the first show and where she became addicted to models. Yajima seems to know all there is about models and took such a liking to Riko who tends to like the older versions.

Erika Ishikawa as Chiemi Ikuta.... Part time employee at Yajima's shop.
and Shinji has such a crush on this twenty year old.

Previous recaps:

Bit late with these final two recaps and it's been a series which I've really enjoyed. Will write this up before viewing the final episode and still think it's set up for a second season. One question that needs to be answered quickly is will the romance between Riko and Oishi ever move forward? Seemed as though it would by the end of the fifth episode, it's still at a standstill. Riko still has the hots for Oishi but has never been able to confess her love, after viewing this wonder if he still feels the same towards her? Up until now every character has had the spotlight for an episode save for two. One is the manager of the third department Inuzuka who we barely saw in this episode. The other character is Asai who finally had his turn to shine, we saw quite a bit of him in the first two shows but not that often since. He started at the company the same time Riko did but while she's still stuck at the bottom Asai is in the elite first department....but for how much longer? Now let's finally get to this show's story.

We've always thought of Asai as kind of a stuck up young man but he did show his true colors in this show, there's a few screenshots of him above. Asai was out with the Ace of the Fun Fun Create company Oishi and his senpai dropped a huge bombshell to his colleague. That's of the third department being disbanded and Oishi heard that straight from the top, Asai was more than stunned. Riko works in that unit and have always thought Asai has had a bit of a crush on her but don't think he's realized how much she adores Oishi. For so long Asai has looked down on the third department but to his credit he's said they've shown such improvement over the last few months which is true, why disband them? Plus there's only six employees in that unit and isn't there other deadweight at the office who should be shown the door first? Asai wasn't just all talk as during a presentation he was giving to the directors he brought up that subject of why the third department shouldn't be disbanded.

However that went nowhere even though Asai was quite convincing, so much he may have just earned a transfer for his sermon! Right above Oishi was giving Asai some tips on how to save Riko's unit, if they can score a huge contract bet the directors would have second thoughts about getting rid of the six in unit three. So Asai was hot on the search for a project that the department could do, not an easy task as he had to find something quickly. That speech Asai gave the directors was very good but he may have gone a tad overboard, that's according to his supervisor. This unnamed man dropped a massive bombshell onto Asai's lap, in one month he's going to be transferred to the HR department!!!! To Asai that's could be a demotion and how can he become the new Ace of the company working there? The 'New Ace' because the current one, Oishi, may not be at Fun Fun Create too much longer. Riko heard from her unit mate Saruwatari that Oishi has been offered a position at a much larger event company, are his days now numbered at FFC?

Oishi leaving the company is the worst possible news Riko could have heard, she and her mates still know zero about their unit being dissolved. Riko still can't get the courage up to confess her love to Oishi and that's understandable as he is the Ace of the company. He too is a bit shy and Riko better make a move soon for it seems Oishi's feelings for her have decreased the last few shows. Asai knows Riko somewhat well and invited her out to dinner to talk about the major problem she's about to face. However there was such a massive misunderstanding about each other's problems. Asai thinks Riko wants to talk about her unit being disbanded, she thought Asai wanted to offer her some help in confessing her love to Oishi! So for half the dinner the conversation was a muddled mess until Riko finally spoke up, doesn't Asai want to help her get closer to Oishi? He didn't even realize that's what she was talking about, at last Asai admitted the problem he was hinting at was the disbandment of the third department!

That was the first Riko had heard of that terrible news, don't think anyone in her department is aware of the fact either. But Asai did promise to help Riko and her mates out with securing a project that'll make them look so much better in the eyes of the Fun Fun Create director's board. During this dinner Asai certainly had his fair share of Sake and when the pair left he could barely stand up. During their dinner Riko had mentioned how Asai is very much like her, he's a Mass Production Person which Riko was for so long, Asai denied that but deep down wondered was Riko correct? Instead of heading home Riko took a detour, you know where they ended up.... at the Yassan Hobby Shop! Asai could barely see after guzzling all that Sake but once he took a seat in the model building room he sobered quite quickly. The shop owner could tell Asai was like Riko when she first visited his shop, the man was a Mass Production Person and picked out a model that should suit him.

Had the impression this was the first time Asai had ever built a model, doing that sobered him in a snap of a finger! Asai thought the model was a Gundam as he says in the top screenshot above. However it wasn't but a clone of the Gundam family called a RGM-79 GM, it was so similar to the Gundam fighters but was much cheaper and very popular. Below are many screenshots of Asai building it and he did a superb job, though these models are so small they take hours to assemble and that's the finished character above. During the session the shop owner Yajima made a confession, he too was like Riko and Asai as he also had worked at an office when he was their age. But Yajima couldn't stand that type of work, when he was about forty he quit to open his dream hobby shop. Of course Yuki as Riko was the main reason for watching this drama but Yajima turned out to be my favorite character.

So that session was a success and all have been to date, visiting the hobby shop has helped so many of Riko's mates at the Fun Fun Create company. In the final minute Asai was walking down the street with Riko, he was overjoyed with the making his first ever model. But there's a more pressing matter and that's of the third department being dissolved. But Asai has really worked hard for the six in that unit and above you can see what he's dug up. It's an event competition that he felt Riko and her colleagues should do well with, if they're successful perhaps they can save the unit! So sure that'll be the main story in the final episode which I haven't viewed yet, that recap is the next post. Also the story may be of Riko confessing her love to Oishi and really don't know if that'll take place, as usual plenty more screenshots to help you follow the action a bit better.
