"Girl Gun Lady" drama: Episode five of ten recap

Air Dates: April 7th until June 9, 2021 on MBS at 1:00 am, total of ten episodes
Subs are done by Bandai and the shows can be found at their YT channel

Main Cast: The actual recaps should be easy enough to do and not all that long though the first one often is to set up the story and introduce most characters. The hard part will be doing this top section with the characters as there's so many and will probably be tweaking this in every post. Sei by far has the biggest role and we do see much of her team too. Many others we really haven't seen too much of yet so will  break things down by teams and keep editing the details as we go along. Each team has four members, the bottom character is the leader while the top three are students at the Minamoto high school. As you can see the team names go by the alphabet.... A, B, C, D and there may be more.

Team ALPHA TANGO

Sei Shiraishi as Koharu Tachibana.... Heroine of the show for lack of a better word. Koharu was an avid model builder who got out of the hobby but resumed it in the first episode. She made a figurine called Alice and the next thing Koharu knew she had been whisked away to a parallel world where her classmates were shooting guns at each other!

Momoka Ito as Natsuna Usui.... The school's track star and will be competing in the 800 meter Japan championship. But will she as Natsuna has only one live left(?).

Natsuki Deguchi as Akiho Inada.... Good friend of Natsuna's and loves science.

Yuno Ohara as Alice.... Commander of the team who lives in a parallel world as do the other commanders. Koharu first met Alice when she built a model that resembled her and think that's how all of the students became part of their team.

Team BRAVO TANGO

Manami Igashira as Chizuru Mizuno.... Killed for the third time in this episode which means she's been 'erased' in the real world.

Anna Ishii as Matsuko Kadaowaki.... In the third episode she replaced Mizuno as the fourth member of Team Bravo. At one time she was good friends with Koharu but they had a falling out two years ago. Matsuko is by far the toughest of the fighters and also the best at making models which means he guns are the most powerful.

Yuuka Suzuki as Rin Otake....

Yura Someno as Aoi Umebayashi....

Rio Teramoto as Bianca.... Team commander

 Team CHARLIE TANGO

Azusa Ohara as Ichika Ikushima....

Rina Kannami as Futaba Ikushima....

Hina as Mitsue Amemiya....

Momoka Ishida as Charlotte.... Team commander

 Team DELTA TANGO

Ai Mikami as Rei Kitamoto.... Very ruthless killer

Momoko Tanabe as Natsuki Higashino....

Utano Aoi as Kana Minami....

Sakura Ando as Daisy.... Team commander

Rest of the cast, twenty characters in all though won't be talking about them too often.

Aya Asahina as Mirei Hoshimiya.... Teacher for many of the students.

Masanari Wada as Kaoru Moriyama.... School's physician and is a model freak.

Gaku Hamada as the shop owner.... Owns the FFF shop where the girls purchase their models. He also has some ties to the games which are unknown at this point.

Would probably help to read those above recaps as I won't be talking too much of what's taken place, like this post they're not too long. Zipping through these shows but trying not to go too fast as there's only a total of ten episodes. Am going to start off by describing a short scene that happened about ten minutes in. It was a flashback which didn't last too long but did answer a question of Koharu's. That was of who she replaced on the Alpha team, that was a student by the name of Masami who is in the first screenshot below. She had only one life to live and gave it away by jumping in front of a bullet to save Alice who is the team's commander. That shook up Alice tremendously  and she does care about the members of her team unlike the other leaders. The important detail we learned in that flashback was that while the students have three lives a commander only has one which is why Masami saved her leader.

In the third screenshot is Matsuko and want to make a quick observation about her. In the third episode she was added to the Bravo team and is by far the best killer of all the girls, especially since she acquired the powerful Blast Girl Gun. Matsuko has killed the most girls but usually in self defense or to save her teammates, she easily could have killed every other girl a few times over by now. In that screenshot she was talking to her ex-friend Koharu and warning her not to trust any other team. But like most meek heroines Koharu didn't pay heed and shortly after that the above girl Higashino wanted to talk with her, the girls are still in the real world but Tuesday at midnight is fast approaching.

That's when the weekly battle begins and Higashino was telling Koharu that she has only one life left, when you get killed three times you're 'erased' from the real world and history! So she was asking Koharu if she could somehow spare her life if it came down to her two teams battling, Higashino is on the untrustworthy Delta team. At the time I didn't believe one word this girl was saying and bet most others didn't either though of course the gullible Koharu did! But Higashino asked her to keep it a secret which sealed the deal she was lying as Koharu's teammates would know how many lives she has left. It's now battle time, that means it's Tuesday at midnight and of course Koharu's team Alpha will be squaring off against Higashino's Delta, it had to work out that way.

The other two teams may have faced each other but we didn't see them in action. This battle was a bit like the one in the third episode, in that show a team had to capture another team's assigned 'base'. Same concept here which was to occupy an area but no team has control of any of them, they're empty spaces in the school and the first team to control the most wins the game. Killings still count for points plus a girl still can get 'erased' if she's been shot to death a third time. That's the predicament of Natsuna in the middle screenshots, she's part of the Alpha team. She's been killed twice so Natsuna has been a bit more conservative in her attacks. This time around she got no chance to attack a Delta girl as Rei from that team shot her in the arm, third episode in a row it's happened to Natsuna.

But Natsuna keeps ticking and even being shot so many times it's hard to keep her down but luckily she's only been shot in the arm or legs. Natsuna wasn't the only Bravo girl to have been injured by a dangerous Delta member as so hasn't Koharu, her injury was much more serious as she was hit in the stomach and you can see her lying above. In the last episode Koharu was killed for the first time when she shielded Natsuna from being shot, now will she be up to two deaths? It really appeared so but somehow Koharu was able to rise to the occasion and staggered away but how long can she keep moving? Meanwhile the girl's teammate Akiho hasn't been able to come to their assistance as she too has been drawing fire as the Delta team is going all out to eliminate the Alpha girls. It appears they'll be successful, first on the list for the team is to kill Natsuna as that would be her third death and the Alpha team commander Alice knows there's just one option left.

Each episode we're introduced to a few new rules, weapons or other thing which can affect a battle. In the top screenshot above Alpha leader Alice mentions Plastic Mode which we hadn't heard of before, it's a very powerful weapon but one that could also be deadly to a team commander. In the second to last screenshot above is Koharu holding the Plastic Mode, it's created when a team commander and member somehow unite their hearts and out of that comes a mini model but a very dangerous weapon. As Daisy from Delta reminded Alice above a commander is unlike the battling students who get three lives, a commander only gets one and is it worth it to put your life in danger? It was to Alice as Natsuna had been hit once again by a bullet and the Delta girls are approaching to finish her off. That new model needs to be fired and that's what Koharu did though she hated to see Alice in such a risky situation but fired anyways as if she didn't Natsuna would be 'erased'.

What a powerful small weapon the Plastic Mode is and within a matter of seconds Alice had taken out two Delta girls. Soon there was a third girl killed and it was Higashino who had told Koharu she only had one life left. That mini skirmish happened just in time as the game ended with team Alpha victorious but more importantly was that Natsuna had been saved but as you'll see in the next recap can she keep skirting death? In that bottom screenshot above is the following day at school and to Koharu's mild surprise Higashino was still alive. We viewers knew she was lying about only having one life left, have a feeling Koharu may have been aware of that too during that last battle. That brings us to the end of this recap, episode six is the following post and how I enjoy writing up recaps that aren't too long. This is only a 23+ minute show but quite a bit happens and there's hardly been any filler to date, plenty of screenshots to help you follow the story a bit better.
