"Girl Gun Lady" drama: Episode ten(final) of ten recap

Air Dates: April 7th until June 9, 2021 on MBS at 1:00 am, total of ten episodes
Subs are done by Bandai and the shows can be found at their YT channel

Main Cast: Each team has four members, the bottom character is the leader while the top three are students at the Minamoto high school. As you can see the team names go by the alphabet.... A, B, C, D and there may be more.

Team ALPHA TANGO

Sei Shiraishi as Koharu Tachibana.... Heroine of the show for lack of a better word. Koharu was an avid model builder who got out of the hobby but resumed it in the first episode. She made a figurine called Alice and the next thing Koharu knew she had been whisked away to a parallel world where her classmates were shooting guns at each other!

Momoka Ito as Natsuna Usui and Fuyumi Usui.... The school's track star and will be competing in the 800 meter Japan championship. But will she as Natsuna has only one live left(?). The answer is no as Natsuna was killed at the end of the sixth show. But her replacement on the Alpha team was her younger sister Fuyumi starting in the seventh episode.

Natsuki Deguchi as Akiho Inada.... Good friend of Natsuna's and loves science.

Yuno Ohara as Alice.... Commander of the team who lives in a parallel world as do the other commanders. Koharu first met Alice when she built a model that resembled her and think that's how all of the students became part of their team.

Team BRAVO TANGO

Manami Igashira as Chizuru Mizuno.... Killed for the third time in this episode which means she's been 'erased' in the real world.

Anna Ishii as Matsuko Kadaowaki.... In the third episode she replaced Mizuno as the fourth member of Team Bravo. At one time she was good friends with Koharu but they had a falling out two years ago. Matsuko is by far the toughest of the fighters and also the best at making models which means he guns are the most powerful.

Yuuka Suzuki as Rin Otake....

Yura Someno as Aoi Umebayashi....

Rio Teramoto as Bianca.... Team commander

 Team CHARLIE TANGO

Azusa Ohara as Ichika Ikushima....

Rina Kannami as Futaba Ikushima....

Hina as Mitsue Amemiya....

Momoka Ishida as Charlotte.... Team commander

 Team DELTA TANGO

Ai Mikami as Rei Kitamoto.... Very ruthless killer

Momoko Tanabe as Natsuki Higashino....

Utano Aoi as Kana Minami....

Sakura Ando as Daisy.... Team commander

Rest of the cast, twenty characters in all though won't be talking about them too often.

Aya Asahina as Mirei Hoshimiya.... Teacher for many of the students.

Masanari Wada as Kaoru Moriyama.... School's physician and is a model freak.

Gaku Hamada as the shop owner.... Owns the FFF shop where the girls purchase their models. He also has some ties to the games which are unknown at this point.

Would probably help to read those above recaps as I won't be talking too much of what's taken place, like this post they're not too long. Above are a pair of screenshots I had never had in any posts. Every show began with a twenty second promo to purchase that realistic Koharu Attack Girl Gun, sadly a life sized figure of Koharu isn't included! Thought the action or intensity level would be a bit lower for this final episode but that wasn't the case until the last few minutes.

But in the last episode there were two very important scenes which we didn't see in their entirety, both are very key to what will happen and will discuss them as we go along. Where we left off was in the Gun Girl parallel world where all of the girls and commanders have killed each other in a battle save for the championship Alpha team. They're led by the living plastic model Alice who killed the student and best fighter Matsuko to end the last show but did that killing really take place? This episode starts off with Alice and her three girls Koharu, Akiho and Fuyumi in the mini Girl Gun chamber located at the back of the FFF shop. The owner and creator the of the Girl Gun League has never had a name so will just refer to him as the Owner.

The commanders are actually plastic models who came to 'life' when they were assembled by their teams. If the team they lead wins the Girl Gun League they have the option to become a real human(!) which has been the Alpha team's commander Alice's dream. Above is the Owner of the FFF shop where the models were purchased and he's also the creator of the Girl Gun game. Somehow he's created this parallel world and it was never really discussed how the Owner was able to do that. Nor was it ever explained how when a girl gets killed in the game she's 'erased' from the real world. An episode is only a little over 23 minutes long so perhaps there just wasn't enough time to explain all of the details. But the Owner has been smitten with plastic models for so many years, mainly female ones which is one reason for creating this odd game.

The plastic model Commander can become a human by sucking the soul out of her team, the girls nor Alice had known how it worked. As you can see above Alice was threatening to shoot herself unless her Alpha team of Koharu, Akiho and Fuyumi were released but Owner told her that wouldn't be wise. That's when he explained the procedure that can transform her into a human, if they're not there she'll just die away and never become a real person. So the transformation began but unknown at the time to the Alpha team that when their Soul is sucked out of  their body so isn't their life as first Fuyumi appeared to die followed by Akiho. Last up was Koharu and her death would mean Alice could become a human, is there anything that can stop this mad Owner and save the girl's lives?

Now to discuss the two scenes which we didn't fully see in the last show but are so very important. Above you can see Alice telling Matsuko who the mysterious Mr. M is who was the girl's teacher at Minamoto high school and Matsuko hadn't really been killed. She somehow(?) appeared back on earth and met the teacher whose real name is Hoshimiya. In the other scene from the previous show she was about to tell Koharu she was that Mr. M person but just before she could blurt it out Koharu and the other girls were whisked away to that parallel world for their final battle. Legend has it that Hoshimiya is the world's greatest model builder, especially for ones dealing with the Girl Gun world. But the teacher had injured her wrist in the last episode and couldn't help Matsuko make a certain model. That was the elusive Girl Armor model which hadn't been found but was the only one that could defeat the treacherous Owner.

But it was discovered that Girl Armor was actually a function of Fuyumi's Change Girl Gun. When she had assembled it she had left out some parts, the ones that could create the powerful Girl Armor! I have no clue how it happened but once again Matsuko was able to travel between the real and parallel worlds. With the Change Girl Gun in the other world the parts had to be brought there and assembled on the spot. When Matsuko arrived she was immediately drawn into a battle as Alice and Koharu were squaring off against the Owner. However their shots had no affect on him as he had a semi force field(!) around him and do wish they had explained where he got all of these powers. In Koharu's eyes Matsuko had always been the best model builder but she brought the Armor Girl parts to the Gun Girl world for Koharu to add in to the Change Girl Gun, confused yet? It could be confusing to a certain extent but not so much viewing it.

So quickly Koharu went to work on adding the Armor Girl parts to Fuyumi's Change Girl Gun, she had to hurry as who knows what the Owner would do or how long they would remain in that parallel world? Matsuko knew what she was doing having Koharu do the assembling as she was able to finish rather fast and it couldn't have been easy with Alice and Matsuko firing at Owner. But with his force field around him would even this powerful weapon be able to break through it? So for the fourth time in the series the Plastic Mode feature was used, what happens is that Alice becomes a miniature figure. She's then attached to Koharu's gun and sits in a small ship, it's quite a powerful feature but it does leave Alice defenseless.

To make a longish recap a bit shorter Koharu fired twice at the Owner, first time she missed but the second time with using the new Armor Girl option was a direct hit. No more Owner finally though he did say before he perished he has the means to return so does that mean a possible second season? But with the Owner now a part of history that means so won't the Gun Girl world as it began to crumble around the remaining trio. It was worst for Alice who never was transformed into a human so she just disappeared, thought the same fate would happen to Matsuko but she was back safely in the real world. So wasn't Koharu and to her surprise also back among the living were all of the girls who had been 'erased' in the battles but Koharu was the only one who has retained her memories of what took place.

And that wraps up this series, did end on a bit of a happy note as all of the girls are now alive again though no more Alice to Koharu's dismay. This turned out to be such a pleasant surprise of a drama and didn't expect it to be so serious. It's going to end up being one of my top shows of the year and will give it a high rating of 9/10, recommend checking that link in the intro to view the shows subbed. My only minor beefs are some things weren't explained enough or at all such as how did the Gun Girl world get created, how were the girls 'erased' and did things end up being completely back to normal? Every show does have questions though and I'd love to see a second season. Have done a few recent posts for Sei and hopefully will have another very soon, a 2020 drama starring her is next up for me. Also expect a few more posts for Momoka who was my fave of this series and did play two characters.
