"G Senjou no Anata to Watashi" drama: Episode ten(final) recap

Main Cast: Not sure what city this takes place in but it's set in Ishikawa prefecture, perhaps the city of Kanazawa? At the beginning of the first show it was mid April 2018 and by it's end it was already June. This final show begins just before Christmas 2019 and the second to last scene may have been held in early 2020, the final mini scene was Spring 2020.

Haru as Yaeko Kogure.... 28 year old woman who quit her OL job in the first episode and also then she was dumped by her boyfriend. Shortly after that Yaeko heard Mao playing the violin at an event to draw new students, she was hooked on becoming a master right from that moment. At the moment Yaeko is still unemployed living with her parents.

Taishi Nakagawa as Rihito Kase.... College student who is twenty and lives at home with his married brother, his wife and the parents. Rihito too heard Mao playing the violin at the event and joined her class but he does have a past with her.

Yuki Matsushita as Yukie Kitagawa.... The third student in the class who also attended the event held in a mall. Yukie is much older than the other pair as she's in her forties, she has a husband and an eleven year old daughter but isn't too happy with her marriage. Had to leave the trio back in the third show due to her mother-in-law having a stroke but is about to rejoin.

Yuki Sakurai as Mao Kuzumi.... Works as a violin instructor at a musical school and is teaching the three newbies above. She's 28 in age and was recently dumped by her boyfriend, of all people it was Rihito's brother and Rihito does have a crush on Mao.

Nobuyuki Suzuki as Yuto Kase.... Rihito's brother who is about 27 in age and works in an office. He had been Mao's boyfriend but got another woman pregnant and had to marry her.

Karen Takizawa as Fumi Kase.... Yuto's pregnant wife and actually quite a nice woman.

 Would probably help to skim through the links above a bit if you haven't already read them and also the above post. Thanks if you read that and I usually don't do posts like that one but as mentioned am getting a tad burnt out from all of this recapping and drama watching. But did cover most of the more important events and if you browsed through the screenshots you probably have a good idea on where this drama stands going into it's final episode. To me the last half was quite good and perhaps the wedding scene near the end was the highlight of the series, didn't expect that ending. 

 That ninth episode ended with Yukie 'running away' from home, not really though as in the note to her family she said it would just be overnight. No one knew where Yukie was but she did make the mistake(?) of texting Yaeko saying she would be spending the night at an Internet cafe near a train station. Rihito knew where she meant so the pair dashed to Yukie's house to bring her husband, daughter and mother-in-law along. Kind of got the feeling Yukie wanted to be discovered or why else would she tell Yaeko where she was going? This problem ended rather easily with her husband Hiroaki apologizing for all he's done, the man did cheat on Yukie before the series began. But it's just not his fault Yukie has had some problems at home as she's to blame also, she does think the household wouldn't survive without her which really began driving her family batty.

 So that problem ended on a high not but as mentioned in the previous episode Yukie's household problems did drag this drama down a bit. At first it was a plus to the storyline but those household problems and scenes went on for too long and took away from the violin playing which was usually the highlight of the shows. But after that first scene there wasn't much more mentioned about Yukie's family as the main focus was on the relationship of Yaeko and Rihito. Actually have to say ex relationship as you can see above, in the last episode Yaeko thought things were moving a bit too quickly for her and wanted to put things on hold which really confused Rihito.

 The music school where the trio first met up and took lessons at will be moving soon, too far away for Yukie who says she'll be stopping the lessons but not playing. The three have had a new teacher to take Mao's place though we never met them. So on the final day of lessons Yaeko visited Yukie at the school but Yaeko wasn't going to attend the class, her new job is keeping her quite busy. So the pair just discussed things with the main topic being Rihito, Yukie really wanted to know why Yaeko broke off with him? Many minor reasons which should have had no affect on things but there was one major one which Yaeko finally admitted to and we were wondering if it ever was going to be a factor.

 That major reason for Yaeko wanting to break things of is what Rihito is talking about in the top screenshot. It's their age difference as he turned 21 the month before while Yaeko is 28 1/2. During her talk with Yukie that age difference is what she mentioned but for other reasons. Yaeko felt with Rihito being so much younger he'll want to end up being with women his own age very soon, she's so scared that she'll be left alone once again. It happened a long time ago but in the first episode Yaeko was dumped by the man she was about to marry. Yukie wasn't the only person hearing what Yaeko was saying, the front desk clerk Shono at the school did but more importantly so didn't Rihito who was standing behind her which Yaeko didn't realize.

 Rihito just couldn't take her reasons any longer and rushed up to her table saying to stop that nonsense. Yaeko is the only woman in the world for him and who cares about the age difference, in a few years it won't matter anymore. One other reason Yaeko blurted out is about playing the violin and how it was sort of their connection, to her continuing playing is a big factor if she's going to spend her future with Rihito. He didn't quite grasp what Yaeko was saying but she did make a bit of sense with that analogy. That scene with the pair's confessions are what they really needed, as you can see above Rihito was hugging her in the school's elevator and now the two are back to being a couple. 

 And guess who else is now a couple, just not a pair that are dating but one that will get married! One half is Mao and never in a million years did Yaeko, Rihito or us viewers see this coming. Which is that Mao was about to get married to Shono who is the front desk clerk/assistant manager at the music school. We saw him a few times every episode but he didn't get a lot of screen time. Shono is a bit of a short man and Mao is a tad taller but he always seemed like an interesting fellow. The pair somehow kept their dating a secret as Yaeko would go out with Mao once a week and never knew about it. Good for Mao as she's suffered because of her severe left hand disability which has prevented her from playing the violin and she had to quit as an instructor. More good news and that's for Mao's trio of students as she wants them to perform at her wedding!

 So after a long break of not playing as a threesome the friends begin practicing in earnest again. The selection they've chosen to play at he wedding is Bach's "Cavalleria Rusticana" which is a difficult piece to play. The trio did have many problems but after playing the song for a few weeks they think their performance will be passable. But on the day of the wedding two problems arose for our 'heroes'. One is that the tune is about adultery and Yukie said they can't perform a song like that at a wedding and her mates quickly agreed. So what they decided upon was their standby song "Air on the G String" which is another Bach song. But to the trio the biggest problem were the guests at the wedding. With Mao being such a respected violinist the people in attendance would mainly be pro musicians who wouldn't want to hear such amateurs play!

 Hard to say exactly why it was but to me the wedding may have been the best scene in the series. That's Shono in the first screenshot below, he got up to address the guests and to talk about the trio of music students. His aim was to ease their fears and and talk about their background but he flopped that badly and Shono seems like the kind of guy who constantly puts his foot in his mouth. But to save the day was the radiant bride Mao who did look so glowing and she said everything her new husband should have correctly. With the main point being that her prized students had perhaps saved Mao's life and though she'll always be their teacher she's actually the person who looks up to them and it wasn't a mushy speech in the least. Though Mao too tried to take some pressure off the trio it didn't work as they were becoming more nervous by the second. But all's well that ends well as Rihito, Yukie and Yaeko did make it through the entire "Air on the G String" song, they did make a few minor mistakes but did a solid job and think the audience realized the trio hadn't been playing for that long.

 Seems Mao will be getting back into the music field as of course she'll be working with Shono at the school's new location, that's good as she is so talented. After the wedding there were two minutes to go in the drama, that took place in January and now the time has jumped to May so almost two years has elapsed since the series began. Yaeko and Rihito are still a couple, in the final mini scene the pair were outside a real estate office looking at their apartment listings as they now want to live together! They're not married yet but that didn't seem to concern them but one 'major' thing did. That was of finding a place with a soundproof room as the couple have vowed to keep playing the violin as long as possible. Finding an apartment with a sound proof room is not an easy task so Rihito, who is now employed, said a least they'll always have their fave karaoke bar to practice at. And with that satisfying ending this series came to it's conclusion. 

 A minor fave of mine the last few years is Yuki who is the bride above. Have seen her in at least five dramas and she is such an attractive woman. Haru fans will enjoy this show as she was superb and thought she actually was much better looking wearing the glasses. For a final grade will give the series an 8.3/10 which to me is a solid mark. Almost everything was a positive though did think those household issues did drag on for too long. Plus I wish there had been more violin playing but did learn so much more about the instrument. Have one more current drama to wrap up and will have the final two recaps for that within the week. After that not sure what I'll be viewing, there is one short series from three months ago but need to wait to see which newer shows will be subbed.
