After watching this episode it made me think about how they figure out an average rating for an episode. Do they run their numbers every 15 or 30 minutes and then figure out the average from those percentages? What made me wonder is that this episode wasn't really a good watch or at least compared to the first two episodes, the ratings reflected that too as there was a big drop. Going in you don't know whether an episode is going to be a solid or boring watch which is why I think they may take a few ratings numbers during the hour a show is on.
Have noticed that episodes that turn out to be excellent ones tend to have higher ratings, guess a good show would keep the viewers. On the other hand a bad show wouldn't keep the viewers, they may turn it off halfway through. Perhaps this episode had a rating of 11% in it's first half hour but it turned out to be such a boring show that maybe the second half hour got a rating of 6% thus giving this episode an average rating of 8.6%. I really don't know if that's how ratings are figured out but it would make sense because like I said really good episodes probably keep the viewers for a whole hour. And this episode certainly did not keep the viewers then with that kind of rating but it did rise back over 10% for the next episode which mean it may be a better view, hopefully this episode was it's one mulligan and it'll get back to being a solid watch.
Actually the above thoughts were also to stretch this post out a bit, so little happened I'm wondering if I can make this recap two paragraphs long as usually they are at least four. No return of the 'City Hunter' yet, at the end of the second episode it looked like Ryo was going to be returning as him to rid Tokyo of the underground criminals the police stay away from. That didn't happen but the episode did leave off on the same premise, Ryo was again was wondering if it's time for the City Hunter to return, hope he does for the drama's sake.
This episode revolved around a ten year old girl named Miki who was dubbed "The Girl of Happiness". Miki would try to help everyone she could out, giving homeless people money or food and during this episode she befriended the owner of the Cats Eye coffee shop who is Falcon. Falcon has some eyesight problems and can't read so well, he ended up meeting Miki in a park one day and they became friends soon after with her reading him a book every day.
However Miki was just ten years old and people started wondering why she wasn't in school. Ryo found out that she was living alone as her mother had died a few months before. Miki had nowhere to go but didn't want to leave her shabby sleeping quarters thinking her mother would return which naturally wasn't going to happen.
Miki did know of her mother's death though, she just hadn't told anyone as she didn't know what would happen to her then. At the show's conclusion though we still don't know what became of her, if you watch this show you may have thought that Falcon would find a way to adopt her or at least have her live with him at his cafe but that didn't happen or at least not yet.
And my friends that was really about 90% if what happened, really don't know why they would air an episode like this one as it didn't answer any of the lingering questions nor did it set up any potential future story lines. It wasn't a horrible view but still didn't see what the point of this episode was, first two shows probably deserved an 8/10 grade, would give this one a 4+/10 grade. Too much time was spent on the Miki character this show, the main stars Ryo, Kaori and Glass Heart's screen time really went down because of that. Also the best part of this show has been about the evil organization Legion which is after Glass Heart and Liu Xin-Hing, after the first five minutes we never saw or heard anything about Legion.
Was talking about the ratings above and my recaps seem to reflect them, usually when a show is very good I end up taking so many screenshots there has to be a second post. Not today though as they can easily be squeezed them onto this one, let's hope for the next episode things get back to normal. It's a different drama but this like the Korean series "City Hunter" were both based upon the same manga, so far the Korean version is blowing away this drama but in it's defense "City Hunter" is a tough drama to top, really is a must watch. Have the fourth episode with subs but need to do two other series reviews so hopefully the next one for this show will be done by the weekend.
