AKB/SKE "Horror Night Adrenaline" drama: Episode six recap with Mina Oba

This series ran from October 7, 2015 until March 1, 2016 on TV-Asahi and Hulu at 1:41 am. Back in 2016 recapped four shows, about ten were subbed in all but just did the ones for the members I liked which features gals from AKB, SKE, NMB and HKT. Recently Skewed Subs has subbed seven more episodes and will be doing recaps on four, possibly five. Have a pair for today and both are for two of my bigger faves from SKE, especially Mina who is the 'star' of this show. These recaps will be quite short as episodes only lasted 11-15 minutes, two aired back to back at that late night hour. Sure this post could be done in two paragraphs but will try to stretch it out to five but do have 38 screenshots.

Episode title: STAIN

Mina played the character of Asuka who is a university student. Above she's visiting her best friend and classmate Mika, her face looks familiar and she could be a lesser known SKE member. Mika has moved into a new apartment which made Asuka slightly jealous as it's nicer than her place. But there is a problem which is a 'face' in the corner of the ceiling. To Mika it looked like an evil face and Asuka ribbed her friend for being scared of such a thing, it's probably just a batch of dirt or paint.

Shortly before she left Asuka told Mika to make 'friends' with the image, perhaps it'll disappear then. Jumping ahead just a tad that's what happened according to Mika, she asked it to be her friend and the following morning it was gone. But is it gone or did it relocate, it's the second scenario as what should appear at Asuka's apartment than the Stain which just happens to be the title of this episode. Asuka first noticed the stain in her kitchen but didn't realize it was the same one from Mika's place, for the time being she just moved a table in front to cover it up.

The following morning Asuka noticed another stain in her bedroom, she was late for school so for the time being just covered it up. But upon returning that night Asuka noticed something even stranger which was that it appeared the stain was growing! How could it be(?) wondered Asuka and she deduced it wasn't growing but was actually alive and moving. That's when she also deduced the stain had come from Mika's apartment, she had told Asuka earlier in the day the stain had left once she 'befriended' it.

So of course Asuka mused about how did it suddenly appear at her apartment and why? But that stain wasn't through moving as it slowly crept onto Asuka's body, mainly on her left arm. Asuka was in a panic and how could she quickly get rid of it before the stain covered her whole body? Not a great decision by Asuka as what she did was to grab a grater, as you can see by the screenshots it was a slightly gruesome scene but still the stain was on her and moved to a different area of Asuka's body.

Of course being TV it could only be gruesome to a mild extent but it was still a horrifying scene. That stain is slowly creeping into Asuka's body and she's becoming more deranged by the minute. A few days Asuka went to school for the first time in a while, she saw her friend Mika and rushed up to her screaming 'why did you introduce me to the stain?!' A few students noticed how out of control Asuka was so she had to flee before trouble happened and returned home. In the final seconds we saw Asuka even more crazier than ever as the stain now had complete control of her body, the final pic is above as it's finally taken over Asuka's body and it definitely was a takeoff from 'Ju-On'.

No time for filler when episodes are so short and thought Mina did a decent job in this show. It's nice to see some of my faves have a chance doing a solo acting role as most of the time I've only seen members in a season of 'Majisuka'. The show was eleven minutes long but really not even that as the final minute was a short interview with Mina. Plenty of screenshots from the episode and up next is the recap for #14.

AKB/SKE "Horror Night Adrenaline" drama: Episode fourteen recap with Akane Takayanagi

This episode aired on November 18, 2015 and the series ran until March 1st of the following year. There were 41 episodes in all, 21 were on TV-Asahi while the others aired on Hulu. Skewed Subs has done another seven shows but only the ones from TV-Asahi, this brings their total to seventeen done and will have at least two more coming up. As mentioned in that first recap these episodes are quite short ranging from 11 to 15 minutes. That's usually not a problem as it means there's no time for fillers but think this show would have been a bit better had it been 3-4 minutes longer.

Episode title: Video Upload

Akane played Sonomi and in the first few minutes we were believing her story. That's of her living in a 'haunted apartment' where a previous tenant had jumped from the balcony. We also thought that Sonomi was telling the truth to the audience in that it was her first time uploading a video to the internet. Of all places the video site was called 'YheaTube' and Sonomi thought that by viewers knowing of her horrific apartment they may be able to help her or even perhaps save her if a ghost appeared as she was making the videos.

It wasn't just one video but many as they seemed to be just a few minutes in length but weren't done 'live' as Sonomi doctored them up to make them appear 'scary' before putting them on 'YheaTube'. Sonomi confessed her scheme to her best friend Aki and the videos were all done for the wrong reasons. Sonomi is one of those gals consumed by how many likes they receive or how many views their videos get which was why Sonomi was doing them, to become popular on the video channel.

As you can see in the second to last screenshot there was a hand on Sonomi's left shoulder. She didn't put that there and where did it come from(?), she couldn't admit that there was possibly a ghost in the house to Aki. That video received over 10,000 views, a good amount but not too impressive according to Sonomi. But as you can see in the last screenshot some viewer is aware of her tricks, it wasn't Aki so who knew that Sonomi was doctoring the videos?

Sonomi came up with the idea that doing a live broadcast would attract so many more views, she's enlisted Aki do help her create some spooky special effects. During this time there's also been some creepy noises around her apartment but Sonomi couldn't find the source of them, was it just her imagination? The live video was scheduled to begin at 9:00 pm but things fell apart before the presentation. First the lights went off in Sonomi's apartment yet her computer and internet still worked? Actually that may have been a blessing thought Sonomi as she lit candles which gave the place a more eerie atmosphere.

The other snag in the live broadcast was that an emergency arose and Aki couldn't make it to help her friend with the special effects. That was a tragic happening for Sonomi for as you can see above shortly after starting the live broadcast a figure appeared behind her, we never did see the outcome as the episode ended there but we can guess what took place. All of these shows have had a reference to a classic Japanese horror movie, this one from 'Ringu' and the above post from 'Ju-On'.

Fine episode but as mentioned in the beginning a few more minutes may have made this a bit better. This lasted a little over thirteen minutes but the final two were of an interview with Akane and some of those pics are below. Will try to squeeze in the next pair before my mini holiday, looking forward to the next one which features Miru from NMB.
