Maki Horikita: Miss Pilot drama episode 8 recap

Main Cast:

Maki Horikita as Haru Tezuka, pilot in training
Saki Aibu as Chisato Oda, pilot in training
Takumi Saito as Konosuke Kinukida, training instructor
Koichi Iwaki as Kazutoyo Shinozaki, pilot
Shotaro Mamiya as Taiji Kishii, pilot in training
Yu Konayagi as Sho Kotari, pilot in training
Nanami Sakuraba as Suzu Abeno, Taiji's girlfriend

Have been reviewing two episodes at a time but figured the pace was going to pick up as there's only a few episodes left, my mistake thinking that. This was by far the slowest and least interesting of the shows so far, certainly watchable but really boring and as far as their training went to become pilots zero happened and I do mean zero.
At the end of episode 7 Chisato was the only one of the 6 trainees to have failed the final test to become a pilot, she returned fro America to Japan every sneakily and no one could find her. Eventually she did return to the airport and tried to hand in her resignation, she did fail the pilots training course but still have done any other job for the airline or gone through and of their other training programs. To Chisato those weren't options and for most of the remainder of the episode it was Haru, their instructor and her father trying to get her to stay and do a different job.
By her father I mean pilot Shinozaki, it came out this episode that he was actually her father, he had divorced her mother many years ago, she and him kept their relationship a secret from all the others at the airport until this episode. That secret really didn't add anything to the story but between him and Haru by the end of the episode it looks like Chisato is going to stay and train for another position, that as of right now is being a dispatcher, think that job fits her better.

And that was 98% of what happened in this episode, it really was such a boring episode that went nowhere, that Chisato storyline should have been so much shorter. At the beginning of the episode when the trainees were returning to Japan it was late March 2013, by the end of the show it's mid-September so for that 5 1/2 month stretch we saw them do no training at all, made no sense why. To date their training has been the most interesting part of the drama and there was none this episode which really, really dragged it down.
Watchable episode but for some reason you couldn't get this episode or wanted to skip one this would be the show you could miss, would grade this a 6/10 but up until this episode the drama had a 8.5/10 grade going, 3 episodes left so there's plenty of time for it to redeem itself. Actually the next episode looks promising, the trainees are now about to learn to fly the 787's, at the conclusion of this show they were about to start the simulations of flying them. Also at the very end of the episode Haru's mother is in the hospital, we don't know for what nor does she know her mother is there but sure that will play a big part in the remaining episodes. Check the next post for many Maki screenshots from this episode, show wasn't all that hot but she certainly was!
