We've finally made it to the end and it's rare for me to recap an entire long Korean series. These recaps have drawn about a third of the views that other posts get but still enjoy doing these more. Thanks if you're among the few that have read many of these recaps, think I'm slowly increasing the Korean fan base here for actresses and dramas. Two episodes last for 59 minutes, that's what these two did yet there had to be a twenty minute stretch where close to zero worthwhile happened, may take one paragraph to describe those events but did take as many screenshots as usual.
On to the action and there was quite a bit for about fifteen minutes, but after that point is when the story petered out for too long. The first ten minutes of episode 31 were almost the same as the final ten of the previous episode though we did see some flashback scenes which answered a few questions. We had left off at the hospital room where Da-Ii's live body was lying in a coma. The time is about to strike 1:00 am, that's when the ghost Da-Ii hasdto enter his human body. But if you read the above recap you know that Da-Ii just scared Woo-Hye out of Yeo-Wool's body, her spirit is lying in a weakened state on the room's floor.
Quickly Da-Ii rushed Yeo-Wool out of the door plus he locked her out as Da-Ii didn't want her to see what was about to happen. Just as the scene played out in the previous episode Da-Ii wrapped his arms around the weakened Woo-Hye as she was laying on the floor. When the clock struck 1:00 am he disappeared back into his body and with him came Woo-Hye! Didn't know Da-Ii was able to bring anything from the real world with him, perhaps it was because she was in her spirit form?
Next step on the plan was for.... Chae-Won to remove the breathing tube from Da-Ii's mouth!!!! That she did and because of that act Da-Ii rapidly fell to his death and surprised that Chae-Won actually removed the tube. She's such an expert at ghosts and the supernatural, would have thought she would have come up with a different way to finally kill off Woo-Hye but that unfortunately wasn't the case. Now the question was what happened to Da-Ii and Woo-Hye now that his body human body is dead?
As you can see above that's what happened to the pair. They were in a deserted field on the outskirts of Seoul where they had had a mini conversation as it wasn't a very long scene. Woo-Hye had told Da-Ii that even though she may be gone from the world there are plenty more evil spirits like her which does get proven towards the end. Woo-Hye's body may be 37 years old in age but when she went into her coma she was twelve. Her spirit form reverted back to that age for a few seconds as shortly after the transformation her body disintegrated and blew off in the wind, it's the last we saw of her in the drama.
Back to the real world and of course everyone close to Da-Ii is grieving over his death. Especially Yeo-Wool who had grown to love him over the past two months(?), there was never a time frame or dates that were mentioned. Eventually though everyone moved on with their lives, Sang-Sub recovered from his stab wound and continued operating the detective agency. Jung-Dae also made a recovery from his gun shot wound and was back at the police force working harder than ever. Also working harder than ever was the coroner Chae-Won though one thing that never happened often were any of them getting together as their main links were the dead Da-Ii and Yeo-Wool.
There was no Yeo-Wool around as she left Korea and traveled to America, none of her friends knew what happened to her until she sent a postcard some months later. One person whose fortunes didn't go so well was the attorney Baek. She didn't receive enough credit for her work but if it wasn't for her pulling the strings there may have been no way Woo-Hye could have been defeated. However Baek pulled one too many strings and was involved in a scandal which led to her dismissal from her law firm though she does end up working at the end of the show with the Sopo police department.
The show shifts ahead one year and the scene is at the airport where Yeo-Wool had arrived after spending that year in America. She had no job to return to though she still had an apartment which Sang-Sub had looked after in her absence. That's where Yeo-Wool is about to head, she waited at a bus stop to return to her home though without Da-Ii around life almost seems pointless to Yeo-Wool though not for long.
This is the final segment as this will be the shortest recap out of all sixteen, main reason was for that twenty minute stretch after Da-Ii died where virtually nothing happened. Yeo-Wool's bus arrived and there's definitely something strange going on inside it as almost all of the passengers streamed out of the side door. After what's happened in Yeo-Wool's past nothing fazed her anymore and she entered the bus to find the driver slumped over the steering wheel. He had been stabbed and there was a younger woman knelt on the floor with the weapon in her hand.
Yeo-Wool quickly called the police department for help, naturally it was Jung-Dae who had arrived n the scene to take the woman away. But before that Yeo-Wool had talked with the woman who was now in a normal state of mind. Seemed as though she had been 'controlled' for a few minutes, just like Woo-Hye was able to do so what she she said about there being others like her was correct. But the woman wasn't able to finish killing the driver as some person had grabbed her wrist and prevented the woman from going through with the murder. She told Yeo-Wool that is was a very tall man who had restrained her, to Yeo-Wool that could only be one man but was it possible Da-Ii had returned?
Wanted to throw a few more screenshots in so this will definitely be the final part of the recap. But as usual there are a ton of screenshots at the bottom that are all in order of the events to help you possibly follow the story better. Back to Yeo-Wool and the bus, now that Jung-Dae was on the scene she quickly jumped off it as she knew the only person the woman was somehow the dead Da-Ii. About eight episodes ago the pair had spent an afternoon at a park along the Han River, there's no doubt in Yeo-Wool's mind that's where she'll find Da-Ii if he actually has returned. Her deduction was on the money as you can see in some of the above pics as walking along the river was Da-Ii, the pair had a heartwarming reunion which luckily didn't end up being overly sentimental. There's others that Yeo-Wool needs to reconnect with as she hasn't seen them for a year, as you can also see above those two are Chae-Won and Sang-Sub, he's even hired her back to be his assistant.
Yeo-Wool though had the biggest surprise of them all as she had slipped Da-Ii into his old office. After the trio, which is now a quartet with the arrival of Jung-Dae, had finished their reminiscing the door to Da-Ii's office burst open. And who should be coming out of the room but Da-Ii himself which almost gave his partner Sang-Sub a heart attack. Doesn't seem possible but Da-Ii had explained that he was able to return to being a live human due to Yeo-Wool's voice. At the hospital when he was about to die he heard her voice saying they'll meet up once again some day, that seemed to give his inner soul the strength to return as a living being though it does sound implausible.
Not quite the end as the final scene sets up a possible second season though with the ratings it doesn't seem likely. The Sopo police department where Jung-Dae works now has an unofficial and secret ghost hunting team. His boss now fully believes in their existence and Jung-Dae's full time gig will be hunting down evil spirits. Not alone though as his boss also wants Da-Ii's agency to work with him along with the attorney Baek who though disgraced still has quite a few connections. As the series finally came to it's conclusion the team were on their first unofficial case as a human was seemingly being controlled by a spirit and was about to kill a person on a bridge. The new team was heading for that possible incident when this drama came to it's ending.
Doesn't happen often as mentioned but did all of the recaps for a long Korean series. Usually finish watching what I've started but very rarely do all of the recaps for a 32+ episode drama. Haven't looked too hard but I may have been the only one to recap the entire series and that's understandable as there's just so many Korean dramas to view. My final rating for this show will be a 9.2/10, may have dropped slightly because of the final episode but all in all do highly recommends it.
Once again thanks if you've read this post and any others for this series, hopefully they were good enough to make you interested enough in watching it. Up next for recaps will be the short Japanese series 'Kono Koi' which just had four episodes, have already viewed the first two. Then after that will be starting on the 2015 series "Missing Noir: M" which had ten episodes though they are an hour each and will be beginning on that show in a few days. One last thing is that I'll be working on more solo posts for Eun-Bin who looked so fabulous in this show.
