Miyuki Imori as Shigeko Sakuraba, Mio's aunt

Getting closer to the finish and one thing I haven't mentioned until now but was the main part of this and some of the next episode was the relationship between Ren and his mother. They've been estranged for some time now, she was once a quite popular singer too but has faded a bit in the last few years, also no one in the public knows that Ren is her son. She's asked him to help her arrange a song for her next album, one she had once recorded and it was a big hit for her but she wants to do a modernized version.
The song was written by Mio's father, what a small world, Mio never knew about that until now. Also for the better part of two episodes she actually thought Ren's mother was her own, could she and Ren really be brother and sister. The answer to that is no but Ren's mother did have an affair with Mio's father which made Mio's mother leave him. Well Ren was against helping his mother do the new arrangement for the song but was pressured into it by the band's manager and eventually he relented but that still did not help him and his mother reconcile, they actually grew even more apart.

Ren's mother was really not a good person and I'm not going to talk about her much more but she also did not like Mio and tried to keep her and Ren apart, in the end that backfired as the two of them grew a bit closer because of that. Can't forget about Shu as he just does not know the word quit and once again tries to get Mio to start dating him. He plans for the two of them to take a trip to his hometown to meet his parents and Mio says yes, this was when Ren's mother was trying to break the two of them up which was the main reason she said yes to Shu.
The two of them are at the airport and all set to depart when Mio has a change of heart and says she can't go, she admits to Shu she will never be able to get over Ren. Shu is of course once again heartbroken but he's one who can hide his feelings well and goes on the trip without Mio. Meanwhile Ren had heard about the pair going on the trip and rushed to the airport to stop Mio from going. He's just a bit too late though as he arrives as the plane is departing, but he doesn't realize that Mio is not on the plane. The two of them end up meeting in the parking lot where have a bit of a tearful yet pleasant reunion, Mio finally admits to Ren that she loves him with all her heart.

And that's where we stand with 3 episodes to go, Ren and Mio finally seem to be a couple as they've finally admitted to each other their true feelings. However something always pops up to prevent them from ever being together and once again that's going to happen starting with the next episode.
Last 2 episodes and a bit of the last three have become much more serious and at time a bit depressing, Mio always seems to be in tears and there's always someone heartbroken, bring out your kleenex for the second half of the series. Though it's gotten that way hasn't affected the quality of the drama at all, still been a good watch just has changed so much compared to the first 5+ episodes. And as usual a bunch of ultra kawaii screenshots of Miori from the episode, she really looks magnificent and still can't believe how everyone thinks she's a male!
