Welcome to my humble site....

Hajimemashite minna san....welcome to my site on my fave Japanese Pop Culture likes such as dramas, movies, magazine scans, promo events etc. Mainly concentrate on my faves...Yui Kobayashi... Miku Tanaka... Nagi Inoue....Maria Makino.... Nene Shida.... if you're a fan at all of any of them then you've come to the right place(!) but many others are featured here besides them. Do mainly quick reviews on things I've watched, try to make the reviews brief, quick to read through with not too many spoilers, just whether they're good or bad and why I thought so plus whether you may find them enjoyable. Many, many screenshots are included from everything I've watched plus any video trailers if they're available. Hope you find something that interests you, don't hesitate to comment, arigato gozaimasu!

Haruna Kawaguchi: Even more recent happenings

That top screenshot is from Haruna's 2012 film "P,O.V.- A Cursed Film". Did a review on it many years ago and really enjoyed it, it's one of the better movies from the last five years and highly recommend it.
That second pic is from the 2011 drama "Ouran High School Host Club" and that's something else from Haruna which many of you may like, she had the lead role in the series. Her popularity was really on the rise until 2013, that year she starred in the drama "Otto no Kanojyo" which translates over to Husband's Lover. That series was a complete flop and was one of the few dramas that was pulled before the show was finished, that's how bad the ratings were.... 3.8% for a prime time show!
I saw two episodes and didn't thing it was a bad show or at least not to end like it did, the competition in that time slot was very difficult. It's taken a few years but Haruna's popularity is back on the rise and it may be higher than ever. A month ago she released her second photobook
"Re:Start", wonder if the title had anything to do with her becoming popular again?

Those are from a fan signing session Haruna had for the book on March 4th. It did okay sales wise selling about 3,500 copies it's first week out, tough competing against all of the recent Nogi books. Haruna's last film 'One Week Friends" was released on February 18th and also was very successful as it was in the top ten at the box office in it's first three weeks out.
That's actually very impressive as in Japan there are so many foreign films from America, China and Korea to go against plus anime movies are so much more popular over there. On March 1st Haruna was at a special thank you screening for the film, thanking all of her fans who made it successful. The event was held at the Shinjuku Picadilly and a few pics here from it.

Around the time of that event Haruna also did an interview for the movie with Hustle Press.

Here's a Haruna mag spread missed from last month and this fine set is from the February 9th issue of Shukan Bunshun which was promoting her photobook.

Haruna has been almost everywhere as of late, in her(our) case that's a terrific thing. On March 25th she was at the 'Tokyo Girls Collection' Spring/Summer show, she doesn't appear at too many of those shows and she was there representing Lowrys Farm.

Haruna has to have done at least five new CM's this last month, hard to choose one but here's a video which has four of them for Ichikami.

Haruna Kawaguchi: "Re:Start" photobook event pics and video

Quite a busy last month for Haruna, after being AWOL for a long stretch seems as though she's been everywhere as of late. First there was a calendar released last month for Haruna's tenth anniversary in the entertainment business, now she's just released a PB to mark the occasion.

There was also another event that took place earlier last week for her "One Week Friends" film. That's done well at the box office as it was #3 in it's first week out and it was in the fifth position in it's second week. Haruna and a few other cast members held a 'thank you fans' celebration for it, may do a post about it tomorrow plus she just had a new CM come out.
"Re:Start" is Haruna's second official photobook, her previous one came out when she was 18 and it was a look at her career up to that point. This PB was released on March 1st, on the 3rd there was a fan signing session for the book. Plenty of fine looking pics here from yesterday's event followed by a video of it.
