Emi Takei: Otenki Oneesan episode 1 screenshots and recap
Was a bit disappointed in Emi's last drama Tokyo Shojou, had a solid cast and aired in prime time but even though she and her castmates did a good job the show itself wasn't all that good, too boring and predictable. However her current series looks to be a winner, went in cold on what it was about and after two episodes have to say I'm really enjoying this show, bit different but that's what's made it so good so far, let's take a quick look at episode one.
Emi plays Haruko Abe who somehow got her meteorologist license when she was 11, think that was the extent of her education as she mentions that she's only a middle school graduate. Haruko is around 20 years old and a bit new to Tokyo lands a job as the morning weather announcer on the News Z show, she's a very stern and blunt and probably got the job for her looks, she dresses oddly most of the time but in normal clothes she's really a knockout. On the morning news Haruko really drives everyone to the edge, she has a very different style to delivering the weather, she doesn't rely on the feeds the stations gets but by her own instinct which means sometimes she starts her forecast without knowing what the weather will be like. Though Haruko is certainly different than all others she rapidly becomes very popular so there isn't much her producers can do so they let her be as long as the ratings keep climbing, hasn't come out yet as a storyline yet but one of the news announcers Akane seems to have it in for her but is keeping her true feelings or intentions hidden.
If you watched Ayame's Biblia drama or read some of the recaps here the main story is like that show, while Ayame solved mysteries by getting clues to books in this series Haruko solves much more serious crimes by using her knowledge of the weather. She somehow gets involved with a detective from the local precinct named Aoki, who is a young detective but full of energy, to make this a trio there's also a coroner named Mikumo who has a big time crush on her despite being at least 20 years her elder. The first case had to deal with a murder, the suspect claimed to be far away from the scene and the police tried to break down his alibi but were unsuccessful and when it looked as though he would be cleared Haruko used her vast knowledge of weather and proved the suspect was at the murder scene at the time of the crime, much of how she figures cases out is by using a lot of science that's above me and others but still proves to be interesting.
That's the first episode in a nutshell, looks like the rest of the series will be following the same pattern as far as there's a major crime but it's only Haruko using her expertise in meteorology that can solve the crime. Like to keep these recaps short but there's plenty of screenshots here to better explain the story, actually would recommend watching this series as so far it's been quite enjoyable and fast paced, episodes are close to 49 minutes but don't seem to be nearly that long, also check out the next post for brief look with many pics from the next episode.
