Many, many screenshots are included from everything I've watched plus any video trailers if they're available. Reinoryokusha Odagiri Kyoko no Uso episode 1 review

Like a few other dramas I've watched and posted about here thought instead of waiting until the very end to write a review for and post a mega amount of screenshots would just do some mini looks at each episode, seems to work out better for me and others wanting info on a show.

Satomi plays the part of Kyoko Odagiri who is a clairvoyant with her own TV show and is immensely popular, her secret up until now is that she's really a fake psychic who gets by with her powers of reasonable deductions. In this first episode and not sure if they're all like this but think so, Kyoko has to solve a case at a women's college, it appears as though some ghosts have been groping the female students in the library at the school and Kyoko is assigned to find out what is going on, not for the reason of solving a case but whether it would make for an interesting story on her show. On her first visit to the library she do is groped by a ghost but it is frightened off by her scream and in then appears what looks to be her partner for the series, Ichiro Taniguchi who was secretly a detective for the police and had been assigned to find out whether Kyoko was the real deal or not.

From that point on the pair work as a team to find out who these ghosts are, no doubt they weren't real but who exactly were they and why were they groping the students. To keep this short which I haven't been doing lately, for some reason it was a woman professor at the college who was groping the students, she was running for president of the school versus two male professors and according to Kyoko's deductions it was done to put the blame on her two opponents which would enable her to win the election for president. While not a psychic or at least she professes not to be Kyoko's way of thinking and being able to solve crimes, riddles and the like so far is interesting. The episode ends on Kyoko's TV show where the guilty professor is there but in an act of kindness Kyoko doesn't tell the audience who the real criminal was but came up with a story that it was a real ghost of a female soldier who had died many decades ago, she thought of that on the spot after viewing a shirt(!) in the audience but also because she wanted to spare the professor and students, it appears as though she has a soft side.

After a few so-so dramas lately may have stumbled upon a winner here, while not the most of interesting cases to start off with the show was fun, fast paced and quite quirky, Satomi really reminds me of Yukie from the Trick series in this show, let's hope it stays at the quality level that it did. For a bit more of a description of this episode and the characters check out the next two posts where I explain a bit more plus there are many screenshots of Satomi and Yuko who plays Kyoko's cousin and manager.

Cast:

Satomi Ishihara as Kyoko Odagiri
Shosuke Tanihara as Ichiro Taniguchi
Yuko Oshima as Karou Ibushi

For the first episode that was the main cast besides the guest stars but at the very end of the show we briefly meet Kyoko's brother who is in the hospital, not sure what his role will be in upcoming episodes.
