Bit of a weak Winter season for dramas, just too many medical and police series and not too many original shows that I'm really interested in. This drama was subbed so thought I'd give it a try for at least a few episodes, have watched the first 2 shows and it's really not a must watch show but so far it's been good enough to continue with, also it's been a fairly simple series so that'll make it easier to do recaps for.
Title of the show translates over to alimony lawyer, Tanaka is a skilled lawyer but his his office is really not all that busy even though he's quite successful at winning cases and getting larger alimony settlements for his clients. First episode revolved around a new client named Kanae who is seeking a divorce from her husband of almost 8 years. He doesn't abuse her nor use any kind of violence but thinks so lowly of her and gives her such a scant amount to live on every month, she doesn't work as she had met her husband at an office some 8 years ago and had quit right after they were married. Kanae had been thinking about divorce for a while but didn't think she could win the case in getting on, that is until she found out her husband has been cheating on her and has some ironclad evidence. She happens to meet Tanaka on a cafe one day after she found out about her husband's cheating and he has agreed to take her case guaranteeing a victory.
It did turn out to be a rather easy victory for Kanae, now the question was how much money she would get for her alimony and whether her husband would pay it. At first the settlement was for 5 million yen and the husband wasn't going to pay it even though he had agreed to at first. However he made a huge mistake and that was stopping Kanae's new manga from getting published as payback for owing her all that money. The mistake was Tanaka found out about it and said he could send the husband to prison for doing that, the husband did relent to start paying Kanae the alimony but now the figure has increased to 10 million yen! Have mentioned that Kanae is an aspiring manga artist, she hasn't had anything published yet but is doing it as she'll need to somehow start supporting herself, the settlement was quite big but really not enough to last her a lifetime.
That really sums up the first episode, wasn't boring but really not that interesting either. Second episode was much better as unlike this divorce case the next one was battled out in court and it really was so much better then this one, recap of that is two posts down. Also the next post has many screenshots from this episode to help you follow it a bit closer but really not all that much happened, mainly we were introduced to all the characters.
