Shinya Shokudo: Season 3 episode two recap and screenshots

Karou is the really only main character in the series but there are many guest stars who pop have popped in and out for the first two seasons, this time around some of the guest stars will include Jo Odagiri, Jun Miho, Yutaka Matsushige, Ken Mitsuishi and many, many more.

 Really can't give a good explanation about why I enjoy this drama so much, it's very slow and to be honest a bit boring at times yet it that unexplainable something which makes you want to keep watching it. Obviously others must enjoy the show too or else it wouldn't be in it's third season, first season was the best by far though and highly recommend viewing ot if you haven't.

 Going to try to give this recap in one paragraph or two small ones, the episodes are short at about 22 minutes each and not all that much happens in them so will attempt to explain enough though very briefly.
 In this show like all the others it focused on one customer who came into the Master's small restaurant, sometimes the episodes focus on a pair of people. Hashimoto was a manga artist and one who an editor thought had great potential and was pushing and promoting his works. However that early success kind of fizzled out quickly and no matter what Hashimoto wrote it was rejected at his publishing company. On the show it didn't seem as though he really enjoyed creating mangas and was doing more for the potential glory and money, think his priorities had changed which really affected the quality of his mangas. Hashimoto had also quit his part time job leaving him with no income and he was totally reliant on his girlfriend who he was living with. However she wasn't happy with the way his life was turning out and though she doesn't want to break up with him it just may turn out that way. At the episode's conclusion Hashimoto was ready to give up on his dream of being a  manga artist, however he was given some advice as he was leaving the Master's restaurant from another artist who had been in his shoes a few months prior and now looks like he was going to get his big break, will the advice be enough to keep Hashimoto's dream alive?

 Kept the recap to one big paragraph and though small that really covers almost all that happened, just left out some of the minor details. Didn't talk about the Master at all but his role was bigger than in the first episode, the shows are always better when we see more of him. Episode 3 aired earlier this week and after this post have another short recap for that show. It is hard to describe this show or what really makes it a solid watch, it's one of those dramas you need to watch as it's a bit hard to say what it is about this series that has viewers wanting more, perhaps we'll even see a 4th season.

 Kept the previous recap for this drama at one long paragraph and will try to do that again, as I mentioned at 22 minutes a show not a lot happens in each episode so if I give away too many details which would be easy to do you wouldn't want to watch the series though I do recommend that you do.

 This episode followed a newer customer named Satomi who worked at a private investigation company and her main task there was to expose cheating spouses. Satomi is training a newbie in the field named Sasaki and he doesn't appear to be cut out for the job, he can't understand why a husband or wife would cheat on the other one. Sasaki, though close to 30, has never had a girlfriend plus he was a virgin until one night when he got a bit tipsy at the Master's restaurant and spent the night with Satomi. He immediately felt that them sleeping together meant that they should be engaged and he somewhat proposed to her but she quickly shot him down.

 Satomi then gives Sasaki his first solo assignment and that was to prove that a husband was cheating on his wife. He did a solid job and was able to prove that the husband was indeed cheating on his wife but the woman he was cheating with was.... Satomi!!!! She set the whole thing up to be discovered, the man she was with was an old flame from a decade ago and the two hooked back up. I can't explain why she set herself up like that, there had to be some message she sent deep between the lines. Satomi then was promptly fired and disappeared from Tokyo though we see her at the end of the episode living in the country, Sasaki was also at a loss why she did what she did, even the Master had no explanation for what had occurred.
 That sums it up fairly well as you have all the major points except for some of the minor details of what happened, perhaps one of those minor details I missed which explained why Satomi had set herself up to be caught cheating and thus getting fired from her job. Through 3 episodes would rate this an 8+/10, not as good as season one so far but still a very solid watch and better than most dramas these days. Will be back in two weeks with another pair of recaps and if you haven't seem the series yet it's easy to get the raws and subs at d-addicts.

 I do mainly post about my fave actresses's dramas but there are others that I do watch but never post about, watched the first two seasons of this but never made any kind of mention about it here. The second season was solid but it faded a bit at the end but season one is truly a must watch, I highly recommend watching it if you haven't, the episodes are only 23 minutes each so you're not giving up a lot of time to check a few episodes out.
 Not going to go too much into detail about this first episode for the new season, mainly wanted to post about a show which I very rarely post about plus also to pump up some interest in it. The drama is a late night one as you may have seen above, really think for the last few years the late night dramas have been the best, those shows aren't going for high ratings so they can put out a solid and interesting show and sometimes the shows get lucky and attract a following like this one has or else it wouldn't be in it's third season.

 Will just give a brief explanation of the series with a bit about the third season's first episode. Kobayashi plays the 'Master', if he has another name I forget what it was but that's what all his customers call him. The Master owns a very small restaurant set in a small nook in Tokyo, he's only open from midnight until 7:00 am. Even though the restaurant is open so late it doesn't draw a lot of people coming from the bars at the time but instead a small core of regular people who just come for his food and conversation. the Master, though an excellent cook, only serves pork, soup, beer and sake but if someone makes a special request and he has the ingredients then he'll make it for them, always seems that he does have what it takes to male a special order.
 Every episode or every two as sometimes they're two-parters focus on one of the Master's customers and some problems they're having with their life. Through his food and wisdom he can almost help the customer with their problems or sometimes it's another customer who helps out. The Master is a man of few words, he almost always lets his food do the talking for him but when he does give advice it's usually correct.
 The first episode dealt with one of his customers who was a food critic, one night he confided in the Master that his wife was ill with cancer and was in the hospital, he didn't expect her to survive. The customer's wife had one request and that was for him to get a CD of an old song she loved from a singer who had quit the business many years before, The CD was out of print but it just so happens that the woman who had sang it was someone who also was a semi regular at the Master's restaurant. The singer had quit singing after her husband had died, he had written the songs for her and once he died she could no longer bear to sing them. Though there was no CD to be found the singer instead sang the song live for the ailing wife at the restaurant, by the end of the episode though the wife was no longer ailing as the cancer for now was in submission.
 That's a brief look at what the drama is about and what happened in the first episode, the shows only being 23 minutes doesn't leave much time for all that much to happen. There's usually also another minor storyline through all the episodes but haven't figured out yet what it will be for this season. Episode one was solid but I do prefer the shows that take place more in the restaurant with the Master helping out his customers with their problems, that didn't happen in the first show, quite a bit of it was set outside the restaurant and the Master's role wasn't as big as it normally is.
 All in all I'm looking forward to the rest of the season even though it's started out a bit slow, really recommend watching the first season if you haven't. The drama actually is quite slow and there's zero action but it has that special something which keeps you drawn in. Not sure if I'll be posting about every episode for this season but will be back with some more recaps at least for the next few shows, here's a few screenshots from episode one.
