Not an ironclad rule but do try not do solo posts about gals who are less than eighteen and actually have been 100% successful at that these last two years. Well, that is except for Mei who I've had five posts for in recent months and now the good news is that she turned eighteen yesterday and that is if you live in Japan. To me Mei is going to be such a popular actress sooner than later, instead of jumping on the bandwagon when that happens thought I'd assemble the wagon first for a change.
Think my prediction of her becoming a star is coming true as Mei will be the lead actress in next Spring's asadora "Hanbun, Aoi". That's a huge honor as those morning dramas draw huge ratings and so many of the lead actresses have gone on to have mega successful careers. Did one post for the press conference announcing her as the star, pics here are from another event that took place in August to announce the other cast members.
If you're hoping for many gravure pics than this post will disappoint you as there will be zero. To date Mei hasn't had to do any of those spreads and have a feeling she never will which to me is quite refreshing and one of the reasons I like her. Mei has Instagram/Twitter accounts, she updates them often and the top pic is her kind of celebrating her birthday.
Since April Mei has been the host for the 'Girls Locks!' show and does the last week of every month. These ones here are from August and she'll be hosting next week's show.
For last month's show there was a special guest who was....
.... Rina Kawaei and that above pic has to be one of the top ten ones of all time, whewwww! The pair are currently starring in the "Bokutachi ga Yarimashita" drama which has two shows left.
Just started viewing that series and am up to the second episode. Unsure if I'll be doing recaps for it but surprisingly it's turning out to be a very fine show, not fluffy like I thought it would be. In the show Mei plays Renko, figured she'd play the cutesy type but that's not the case as she's going out with a tough biker from a rival school. The show is quite interesting as a high school has been burned down and four students from a rival school are the suspects though they're innocent. Now that I've written that out think I will do a few recaps and hopefully will do one or two this week.
Mei has been an exclusive model with Seventeen for exactly a year now, she also used to be one for Nicola and Nico Petit. She appears in their monthly mags but almost always with other gals, don't know why we don't see her in more mags but that could change in the future. Mei was at the August 24th Seventeen fashion show which was also the graduation of Ayaka.
Last item is that Mei has a big role in the upcoming film "Mix" which stars Gakky. Don't know all of the details but think they're rivals in the film, on the ping pong table and fighting for the same man. On September 20th the film had it's first screening at the TOHO Cinemas in Roppongi Hills, hopefully we'll see much more from Mei promoting the movie.
