Hajimemashite minna san....welcome to my site on my fave Japanese Pop Culture likes such as dramas, movies, magazine scans, promo events etc. Mainly concentrate on my faves...Risa Watanabe... Kyoko Saito... Yui Kobayashi....Miyuki Watanabe.... Nene Shida.... if you're a fan at all of any of them then you've come to the right place(!) but many others are featured here besides them. Do mainly quick reviews on things I've watched, try to make the reviews brief, quick to read through with not too many spoilers, just whether they're good or bad and why I thought so plus whether you may find them enjoyable. Many, many screenshots are included from everything I've watched plus any video trailers if they're available. Hope you find something that interests you, don't hesitate to comment, arigato gozaimasu!

Mayu Matsuoka: A long overdue post #1....
That top pic gets such a thumbs up from Nao. 😋 Have been working on that top twenty list I've been talking about and will be starting on it soon. Complied a list of eighteen names and stopped there, figured I had missed an obvious huge fave or two. And did I ever as didn't realize until last night that Mayu's name was not on that list, can't believe I almost forgot her.
There was one other name I had forgotten and talk about all of that in the post above this. Just forgot all about Mayu and not just for the list. She's done many activities this year and that's why the post is titled #1 as there will be another post coming up for her very soon. Actually two as she will have another as she's on my top twenty of all time list, Mayu won't finish in the top five or maybe even lower than tenth but she won't be far off from that number.
Looks like she won't let me forget about forgetting her. Seems Mayu has a lot of fans here, a post I did last December was the most viewed one for 2017 and it's currently the sixth most popular post of all time. Mayu is such a down to earth gal who doesn't do gravure spreads, perhaps that's why so many of us really dig her and that's besides being the world's biggest Morning Musume fanatic.
MM was just on a recent special 'Music Station' show, Mayu was there cheering them on but sadly didn't get up to perform with them again. On to all of the recent events and one thing Mayu has never been known for is appearing in many mags and it's such a shame as her conservative style beats almost all others who have to dress skimpy to be noticed. Just one small set for today which is from the September CQ Japan as she was chosen as one of their top ten women of the year.
Five pics here are from a June interview with the Project Dress site, it was for her latest film and will discuss it below.
The film I'm truly dying to see is "Katte ni Furutero" which came out last December, so far it's not on DVD. Mayu has the lead role in the film which has a bit of quirky and off the wall story, those kinds of roles suit her the best. The film wasn't a major hit but it's proven to be very popular and some cinemas are still showing it. To me it appears to be the best film from the past few years and Mayu has won a few awards for her role in the film. One was at the 27th 'Japan Film Awards' show which took place on April 26th, she won the Best Actress award.
Mayu's latest film is "Manbiki Kazoku" which translates over to Shoplifters. This appears to be another fun film for her but once again it's a shame it'll take us on the other side of the world so long to have the chance to view it. The film had it's premiere at the 71st 'Cannes Film Festival' which happened in May, what's impressive it won the 'Palm Doll' prize at the festival.
It's okay that Mayu doesn't appear in many mags as she looks so tremendous at events and she appears at many more than most actresses do. On June 2nd she was at an event for the new film along with it's director and didn't she look ultra fabulous?!
On June 8th the 'Shoplifters' film had it's premiere at the TOHO Cinemas in Shinjuku. Besides Mayu it has a very impressive cast and there were two other events for the film after it's premiere which I'll be getting to soon. Plenty of fine looking pics here from the event and following them is the trailer for the film.
