Welcome to this Baka's blog on his fave Japanese Pop Culture interests.
Welcome to my humble site....
Hajimemashite minna san....welcome to my site on my fave Japanese Pop Culture likes such as dramas, movies, magazine scans, promo events etc. Mainly concentrate on my faves...Risa Watanabe... Kyoko Saito... Yui Kobayashi....Miyuki Watanabe.... Nene Shida.... if you're a fan at all of any of them then you've come to the right place(!) but many others are featured here besides them. Do mainly quick reviews on things I've watched, try to make the reviews brief, quick to read through with not too many spoilers, just whether they're good or bad and why I thought so plus whether you may find them enjoyable. Many, many screenshots are included from everything I've watched plus any video trailers if they're available. Hope you find something that interests you, don't hesitate to comment, arigato gozaimasu!

Mayu Matsuoka: Her most monumental post to date....
Mayu claims to be the world's most avid Morning Musume fan, two years ago she appeared at a concert and joined in on one of their tunes. Have posted many pics from the performance but until today never knew there was a video. Naturally then that's the one at the top which is definitely worth a view, the tune is "One * Two * Three" which was a single from 2012 and hit #3 on the charts.
In the heading said this is Mayu's most monumental post and it really will be as there's over eighty new pics and the majority are for her new film "Katte ni Furuetero", more info as the post goes on. Mayu finished 13th on my top twenty list this year, eleventh among Japanese faves and if you think of the fact there's close to 65 million females in Japan that's one impressive feat for her.
Pics above are from Mayu's Instagram account, she's not much of a social media user and luckily most of my bigger faves tend not to be. Fourth pic is from the J-Wave radio show which she hosts once a month and no doubt was promoting the new film. Plenty of Mayu interviews the last few weeks for the movie and there's so many couldn't post them all but that gives us an excuse to do another post soon. Here's some pics from a pair of sites with the first five being from Otocoto with the remaining ones being from Eiga.com.
Even more interview pics as all look quite oki doki, these are from the Real Sound site.
Have had the film's trailer in about five posts so not going to have it again today. Sadly it's going to be a long time until it's available for us in the Western Hemisphere to view but to me it looks like it could be the best movie of the year. In the film Mayu plays Yoshika who is a 24 year old office worker without a boyfriend(Nao is available). Yoshika is a fanatic about ammonite fossils(?) which I guess could be cool, it really sounds like a quirky film and Mayu excels in those kinds of roles.
One thing that's been lacking over the years are Mayu appearances in magazines. Just have two spreads for today but they total up to be well over twenty pics as both sets could be her biggest ones to date. First off is from the December 14th edition of Tokyo Walker Plus where she also graces the cover.
No cover for the second spread but Mayu looks even better in the pics which are from volume 26 of BLT Graph.
Isn't Mayu one of the cutest and adorable gals around? 🙆 To me she is and what a fave she's become of mine since I first saw her in the "SHE" drama from 2015. Also from that year was the series "Genkai Shuraku Kabushiki Kaisha" and I highly recommend that drama as it's one of the best ones from the last few years. Have viewed it twice but never did recap it and now that I think about it one does need to be done so that'll be near the top of the '2018 to-do list', it's just a five episode series though the shows are about an hour long.
Back to the "Katte ni Furuetero" movie and there's been two screenings for it which were have been posted about. On December 20th Mayu and the director Akiko Oku were at a special question and answer session for the film which does have a video on YT.
Finally reached the end of the post and if all of these pics had come out a month ago Mayu would have been much higher than 13th on my top faves list. The film had it's premiere today at the United Cinema Toyosu in Tokyo with the main cast on hand. Pics here are of course from today's event and after them is a short video of the premiere. February seems to have the birthdays of more faves of mine than any other month, Mayu will be hitting the age of 23 on the sixteenth or 55 days away.
