"Yuru Camp" drama: Season two, episode one recap

Air Dates: April 1st to June 18, 2021 on TV-Tokyo Friday nights at 12:30 am
This special aired on April 1st, the regular season began the next day.

Main Cast: Same as season one and the city where the gals live is Minobu which is in Yamanashi prefecture though Rin often goes off to other locations for her camping trips. This will be taking place in the girl's final semester in high school, all are 22+ in real age but are still playing eighteen year students.

Haruka Fukuhara as Rin Shima.... Could be considered this drama's 'Heroine' as most of what's taken place to now has revolved around her. Rin is such an avid camper but prefers to go out on her own but in season one for the first time she went on a trip with her four other friends, plus she did have a pair of trips with Nadeshiko who kind of pops up out of nowhere.

Yuno Ohara as Nadeshiko Kagamihara.... Is also into camping but had never gone on an overnight trip until the first season with Rin. Nadeshiko is such a bubbly girl and is a glutton when it comes to food, don't where she puts it! Near the end of season one Nadeshiko joined the Outdoor Club.

Momoko Tanabe as Chiaki Ogaki.... Could be considered the president of the Outdoor Club which had only two members until Nadeshiko joined. She too had never gone on a camping trip until the end of the first season.

Yumena Yanai as Aoi Inuyama.... With Chiaki the other original member of the Outing Club. In the first season the pair had accumulated much camping gear but had never taken a trip, until Nadeshiko joined it appeared the club would be discontinued for lack of members.

Sara Shida as Ena Saito.... Rin's best friend and is such a lover of dogs. Though such good friends with an avid camper Ena had never taken a trip either until the final two episodes.

Links to the final two episodes of season one if you're curious on how it ended.

No sense in rehashing what took place in that special episode as sure you've read it. So it's January 1st and Rin's new year began off in high fashion as for the first time she was able to see the sun rise over the ocean but what's up next for her? Rin is supposed to meet her newish friend Nadeshiko in the city of Hamamatsu which is in the Shizuoka area and I have to use a map to follow Rin's path. She's spent the night at a campsite in Omaezaki that lies on the Pacific Ocean and it's not that far from there to Hamamatsu. However it appeared Rin wanted to travel back home to Minobu as her funds are a bit low but after calling her mother back home that plan had to be aborted.

No snow but the Yamanashi region was covered in ice and there was a travel advisory, as you can see in the top screenshot Rin was moaning how she had two days to kill before meeting up with Nadeshiko. Obviously a camping site was needed and there was no way Rin was staying at her current location that costs 3,140 yen a night. To her amazement she found a small site not too far from Hamamatsu that only cost 420 yen a night or just $3.50, that was a gift from the Gods are Rin's money supply is quite low. Least sightseeing is cheap and as you can see above one of her first stops was to admire the Hamana Bridge that goes across Lake Hamana. But in an interesting tidbit it's no longer a lake as it now connects to the ocean so it's considered to be a Black Lagoon though no creatures have been sighted!

Guess to many Rin may be considered an unexciting person but she has no problems filling up her day with interesting activities. She was able to kill those two days away before meeting up with Nadeshiko rather easily and even had a bit of extra dough to buy some special pastries in this immensely popular local bakery. It was so popular you had to arrive early to get a number and their products sold out in the blink of an eye. Every person in line ordered fifty(!) of the day's special though Rin herself just had the cash for four of them. So with her present of pastries for Nadeshiko it's on to the city of Hamamatsu to and not sure if the pair will be there in the next episode too.

Nadeshiko has become an avid camper, not at the level of Rin but it's her second favorite activity. With her top one being Food and she eats so much yet where does it go... if you know Yuno you may have a fairly good idea! So the pair visited an Eel shop highly recommended by Nadeshiko and though inexpensive Rin was worried about how she was going to pay for such a meal. Don't worry replied Nadeshiko as her father gave her a gift of 10,000 yen for her trip and Rin breathed a sigh of relief. While mainly a travel show we've also seen many different food dishes to date, Eel is something I'll probably never try but it does look a bit yummy and Rin did relish that fish to no end.

There's a screenshot of Lake Hamana right above though as mentioned it's now officially referred to as a Black Lagoon. Nadeshiko seemed to devour her plate of Eel in less than five seconds to the amazement of Rin, surprised she didn't order a few more dishes! The reason for the trip to the area for Nadeshiko was to visit her grandmother who lived in Hamamatsu, all of these locations are in the prefecture of Shizuoka. So the pair arrive at grandma's house and there we met Nadeshiko's cousin Aya who is right above, kind of shocked that the episode ended there.

Shocked because there was still three minutes to go and will this visit to Hamamatsu open the next episode? Haven't viewed any shows past this one but the reason for it being a bit short is because there was mini segment after the credits called Room Camp. This featured an outtake scene from one of the later episodes and unsure if this will be a regular segment in all of the shows. Kind of hope not as I prefer seeing Rin on one of her trips, final five screenshots below are from that segment. So will be back in a week or perhaps sooner with the next pair of recaps for episodes two and three.
