"Fukushuu no Miboujin" drama: Episode five of eight recap

Air Dates: July 8th until August 26, 2022 on TV-Tokyo, Fridays at 2:35 am
Also aired on Paravi in March, title translates over to Widow of Revenge
Subs were done by Blitz Fansubs

Main Cast: Wrote most of this up after the first two episodes and know there will be a lot of updating with these bios as many will be going... to the hospital or their graves!!!! Most of the action will be taking place at the Planning and Development section of COD Techno Services, almost all of the main cast worked there.

Wakana Suzuki as Mitsu Susuki.... Her real name is Mitsuki but shortened it to disguise her identity. She was the wife of Yugo who worked at COD but he committed suicide a year ago. Mitsu knows there's much more to his death than calling it a suicide, was Yugo so stressed out he killed himself or was he 'helped'? Mitsu is now working as a temp contractor at COD to find out exactly how her husband died, she's out for revenge! Though a very attractive woman you don't want to get on her bad side as we quickly learned.

Yasushi Fuchikami as Yugo Suzuki.... Yugo's brother who is a detective. Like Mitsu he feels there's more to his brother's death than has been revealed, he's working undercover with her to find out the truth. Like his brother Youshi has known Mitsu since they were small children, were the two ever have a relationship?

Yuta Hiraoka as Yugo Suzuki.... Of course we'll only see him in flashbacks for he died a year ago, at COD he was a team leader and had been an engineer. Seems Yugo was harassed endlessly by his manager Hashimoto and was that a main reason for his suicide? His death happened by jumping off the roof of the COD building.

Renn Kiriyama as Makoto Saito.... Very diligent worker at COD who looked up to Yugo but didn't know him well. He really respects the new contractor Mitsu who quickly became the ace of COD, wonder if we'll see him team up with her to discover the truth?

Kenshin Endo as Yoshihito Sakai... Male worker at COD, was really abused by Hashimoto.

Yuki Morinaga as Kazuya Kotake.... Inept employee who spends most of his time playing online games instead of working. The only reason Kotake has a job is because his father owns a large shipping company who COD has an account with. His game playing has affected the office performance as he uses up so much bandwidth. Haven't seen him since the second show when he was locked in an isolated room.

Sakurako Konishi as Tomomi Itahashi.... Another inept employee who pushed her work off onto others, her main passion is her cat Mocha. At the beginning of the fifth show Itabashi had resigned and it was mainly because she was scared of being hurt like the others.

Yasuyuki Maekawa as Isamu Wakatsuki.... The president of the COD company and a former star soccer player. A very intelligent man whose post sports career hadn't gone as well as it should have. That is until he met his wife Erina who is the daughter of the man who found COD and thus Wakatsuki became the president. Has had many affairs and his wife is pregnant, at the beginning of the fourth show he resigned and why is in the third episode's recap.

Rika Adachi as Saeki Maho: The secretary to the president and the pair did have an affair. Saeki is currently dating a congressman's son who is kind of a sleazy man. She was jealous of Mitsu and wanted to bring her down, needless to say that didn't happen!

Satoru Matsuo as Masaya Hashimoto.... We only saw him in the first episode but his name will be mentioned often. He was the arrogant manager of the Planning and Development department whom all despised and he ruthlessly would humiliate his employees. Hashimoto may have been a key reason for Yugo killing himself but Mitsu got her revenge in the first show!

Previous recaps:

Once again this was a bit of a different episode, no killingss by the revenge minded Mitsu though we did see her first and only(?) killings which took place 22 years ago! But for the second straight episode there was no one who received a 'punishment' from Mitsu and could it be there aren't many left on her hit list? There were three stories in this episode and they did jump back and forth between two of them. So will write those up separately and I do have some questions about one major incident that took place two decades ago, what took place then is still a key to the present time. Will begin off with Rin who ended off the last episode, thought she'd be a key figure in this episode but only had one scene towards the end.

So looking at the stories separately means I won't be following the action as it happened. Rin is an eight year old girl who we met in the last episode. She had been 'saved' by Saito from jumping off a bridge to end her life but I don't think the girl would have gone through with it. Rin was brought back to Mitsu's apartment who talked some sense into the girl but that didn't last long as two days later Rin reappeared with some bruises on her. Rin's father had died many years ago, her mother got married to such a creep who abused her and the mother, Rin wanted nothing more than to kill this man! So the first screenshot shows a small vial of a still unknown chemical Mitsu had handed the girl in the last episode, it was returned in this show and as you can see it's almost empty! That's because Rin just didn't give her stepfather some of the poison(?) but also her weak mother who are both now dead! Rin wasn't upset in the least and told Mitsu she would go to an orphanage to live, kind of an odd scene that was a bit rushed and wouldn't the police have had some sort of involvement? But Rin made Mitsu think about her own upbringing and that major story will be the last of the three.

Not too much of the action took place at the COD Techno Service company. Fourth screenshot shows Haruna who is a newbie in the Planning and Development unit and was introduced in the last episode, so far her role hasn't been important. But she was 'forced' into doing a project for the shady COD salesman Hasegawa who is on the left in the fifth screenshot. Saito is the unofficial new leader of the department and he knew nothing about what Hasegawa was forcing Haruna to do until she almost blew a major project trying to do the pair at once. That scene didn't seem to mean all that much but is it a setup for something down the road? Haruna had erased much of her main work which of course was recovered by Mitsu who seemingly can do anything on a computer. Mitsu did secretly view Saito reaming out Hasegawa and I wished we could have known what she was thinking, least all turned out well for Saito's unit. And to celebrate the small team did have a mini party at the office where much of the conversation revolved around Mitsu's dead husband Yugo. Of course no one knows that fact yet and while most thought Yugo was such a nice man there was also something eerie about that talk.

Am having such a difficult time focusing, sigh. Not positive but think that mini get together with her co-workers has got Mitsu taking a different view of what took place with Yugo. During that shower scene above Mitsu had been talking to her partner Youshi though he was standing outside, I started to wonder if those two ever had a fling or will they? Mitsu was musing that even though her deceased husband had been used by many COD employees was most of it unintentional? If so should she still keep that goal of punishing everyone or change it, that we don't know the answer to yet. In the final scene which was barley a minute long Mitsu had arrived one morning at the COD office before anyone else. On Saito's desk was that photo you can see above, he was next to Yugo and no matter what Saito has told Mitsu were the two of them close? Mitsu did pry a bit into that possible close relationship and did ask what could have driven Yugo to killing himself? As you can also see above Saito made the biggest statement of this drama to date, "I Killed Him!".

So that's a cliffhanger going into the next episode which I haven't viewed yet. The rest of the recap will be talking about Mitsu's past which we saw in three flashback scenes. They began 22 years ago when Mitsu was ten in age, of course back then she went by the name of Mitsuki and thought she was older than 32 in the present time. She was being raised by her single mother and there's no beating around the bush, what an unattractive woman she was!!!! But the mother Kaoru was a successful picture book artist and had needed no help in raising her daughter. But Kaoru was so jealous of the rest of her family who were all good looking, especially her sister Yui. Don't know how it happened but Kaoru was invited on a blind date with this man named Murakami, along on the date was Mitsu. This man couldn't stop staring at the ten year old girl and what a creepy person he was, to the shock of many he soon wed Kaoru and was it to get closer to Mitsu? Yes but before we get into that the bottom screenshot above has Mitsu in the center, to her right is Youshi and to her left Yugo!!!!

That was a bit of a shocker as Mitsu had grown up with her future husband Yugo but seemed to be better friends with Youshi. This is kind of odd or perhaps an even confusing fact which is that the brothers were the sons of Yui who is the sister of Kaori! That meant they were Mitsu's cousins and could she have really married her first cousin, only other possible reason was that her mother had been adopted. So as mentioned the main reason for Murakami marrying Kaoru was to get closer to Mitsu, he abused her so badly mentally, physically and even raped her! What a disgusting man and while Yugo hadn't noticed Mitsu's injuries Youshi did, in that second screenshot above he was giving her a bottle of some chemical he stole from his science lab, they're still using that chemical 22 years later! Youshi said if that animal doesn't stop abusing Mitsu to use it on him, a few drops will make him blind for about a week but using much more should kill him! There's no way Mitsu wanted a little punishment for her stepfather so instead of a few drops poured quite a bit into his alcohol which of course went unnoticed, within a matter of moments Murakami fell to the ground hurt badly but still alive and kicking.

Not for long as appearing out of nowhere was Youshi who bashed this creep over the head with a statue, now he's finally dead. Youshi told Mitsu they better run away quickly however waiting at her bedroom door was the mother Kaoru. She entered Mitsu's room to see what had occurred and saw her husband Murakami lying dead, seemed to me Kaoru was happy about that as she may have finally been aware of how badly Mitsu had been abused. Living alone with her mother again would be no picnic either so you can see in the above screenshot how Mitsu solved her problem, she threw the entire contents of the acid(?) into her mother's face, she was dead within minutes. So that ends the final story and what happened with Mitsu after that isn't known yet but if it wasn't for Youshi who knows if the ten year old Mitsu would have lived to see eleven in age! That ends this recap which was much different than the first four shows but least we've learned so much about Mitsu's past. Three more shows to go and the recap for the sixth episode is the next post.
